Susan & our SIL were up here (both work in Bristol) Matt was cheering Cov on wanting them to beat the Rovers, big smiles when we scored. Susan said one of her work mates was up here for the match, she'd been saying they'd beat Cov easily....2-0 if not 3-0 HA!! wonder what she'll say tomorrow at work.

Coventry City Vs Southend United

33,000 fans didn’t turn up for this as no doubt they were sorting out travel plans for Wembley. MR made five changes to the side and on paper it looked a good line up, playing 5-3-2 we had Burge in goal, with Kelly-Evans, Rawson, Turnbull, Clarke and Haynes at the back, with Bigirimana, Reilly and Stevenson in midfield with Beavon and Tudgay up front.

United attacked the end where their fans were in the first half and nearly took the lead after the first attack when Wordsworth fired wide from just outside the box. Minutes later a player City could have done with Nile Ranger was allowed acres of space in the area and beat Burge who seemed to be wrong footed to give the away side the goal was assisted by another big forward Theo Robinson. “Sisu Out” chanted the home fans. City were struggling to get moving as Bigirimana was being closed down quickly or he wasn’t been given the ball quickly enough. Stevenson then did get a shot in on target but it was nearly all Southend as City struggled to get out of our own half. City were then pulled up for a foul by Tudgay, the kick was taken and it fell to Leonard his power shot took a deflection and beat Burge from distance, 2-0 to the visitors. No doubt Robins wanted to run away from the club again at that point. took the kick. It was a question of how many for Southend but at least Haynes had a go after a good run he fired over. City looked lost on the field and seemed to have gotten worse since Robins has arrived. The half ended with boos around the home sections.

Second half saw a change to four at the back as Turnbull went off and on came Kwame but again he was totally wasted out wide when we have three dedicated wide players in the squad. Tudgay and Beavon combined well to give Reilly a shot but no trouble for the keeper, “we had a shot on goal” sang the City fans. Kelly-Evans then went on a run but dived in when he lost the ball, thankfully the referee only booked the fullback it could have easily been a red but the City fans appreciated the effort from the defender. Bigirimana was passing better but then was taken off to give City more width and yet again MR ignored the wide players and threw on George to no avail. Not long after former City player Fortune came on for United. Burge’s distribution was as normal appalling as was most of the City side in a game that if Southend really wanted to could have racked up a big win, then another change for Southend as they brought on yet another former City player in the shape of Nouble. Robinson, Nouble, Fortune, Ranger all big capable forwards any of them would have done for us from the start of the season. The game petered out with Southend coasting and leaving City 17 points from safety with the real danger of being mathematically relegated before Wembley.

Man of the Match
1st The fans: For turning up
2nd Dion Kelly-Evans: Worked hard against far taller players
3rd Ryan Haynes: A couple of good runs

My thoughts on Slade he was a manager I wanted in for his League One experience but like all before him he didn't have the backing of the board, he wanted to bring in Ajose but didn't have the funds he was also on a hiding to nothing but it has got worse under him, his playing style is awful but I thought at Shrewsbury he was learning by brining back Bigi then I learnt it was only because Foley pulled out late Gael got in. Still the only reason to get rid of him if we started to build for next season so brining back Robins is a good move he is pro Sisu but will leg it when it gets tough again, at least we will start playing football again.

Well it's a new sofa but that's not what all this is about.....we also had a new carpet which I hated, it's growing on me "Like a wart" my husband said funnytvprog  when it was layed it just didn't look how I imagined it would look AND Benjie's paw prints show up confused2  of course we were talking about it on the site, as you do. so various photos have been put on the site....this is the latest one.  (close up of sofa & carpet)   it's a good job we only talk about football on here .....such excitement. Smile

BTW I got Paul Robbie Savage's autograph ....you mean he's lost it?    tell him "Smack legs from Vicky" it should be framed and hanging over the fireplace. Smile

morning morning morning morning easychair tired tired
Another game another defeat. Sleep

About five of six years ago we played Derby and one of Paul's workmates or friends was there because his young son was in their academy, years later he was at last night's game and he is Kwame Thomas' dad, small world.

His dad said Kwame wasn't been given the right passes because he is quite quick.

A brilliant win.....though the first caller Ian is still "That was a tough name for us" and he's being told what is he on about? So Choccy P what's your view?

I was "Ahhhh get it away" when I was listening....though it was a good game....once the whistle had gone. Smile

The dilemma for City fans, what to do on St Valentine's Day, I know lets follow a relegation bound side away from home miles away that have lost five in a row and hadn't won for 14 games there were quite of few of us as well

Sometimes it is a bit easier to watch defeats if the team put in the effort and they did we were unlucky and I will never understand how the ref missed the foul on Reece-Cook.

Also was interviewed by Martin Winch for CWR before the game
