I think it's 3 days a year when Stores are closed over here......though clothes stores close around 9:00 or 10:00 in the evening but food stores like Asda stay open around the clock, though they close on a Sunday at around 5:00. I remember when it first happened, donkey years ago, the church wasn't happy about it, but the Government met them half way and so the closing on a Sunday around 5:00.

Been talking to Susan on the telephone she went with Matt watching Rugby BUT they're going to the Mal tomorrow....well she said "Fairs fair I went watching Bristol v Wasps with him so he's got to go shopping with me tomorrow" she said she'll tell me if she buys anything.

Ok I'm off as well.....night night

Carole I was going to suggest Amazon for the police whistle..

I so agree Carole she'll be crying if she doesn't allow the doctors to treat her ....they're having the meeting on Friday Carole, but she's saying "I'm not having an operation" ......she's not in denial, she knows what they've found, I just don't understand her.

Right I'm tired and off to bed.

Tomorrow guys.

Oh dear me I can ALSO picture her Vicky
I just read your postings to Gil ,he said
he feels SORRY FOR HER as she does not know
the kind of pain she could be in ,as to the whistle
Marge a great idea but WHERE does one get one from ?
The phone would not work as Gil has enough problems
trying to push the TV remote with his left hand ,and never answers
the phone as he cannot hear and by the time he gets it to
where he CAN hear the caller has normally hung up

The Dr yesterday suggested that "Life Alert" thing that
you can rent I THINK its like $10 a month ,you see the ads on TV
all the time "I've fallen and I can't get up" she says after pushing
the button that is hanging around her neck ,this would be more
for when I go to the store or Fran's once a month and he falls or something
else God forbid

When are they having the meeting Vicky to discuss treatment
I cannot believe she was still smoking and WANTING A
And she is a "actress" as well @ she is probably in denial

Marge your doing GREAT by the sounds of it ,nothing much on your
dance card well done ,but sorry about Big Red hope it does not cost an
ARM and a LEG to fix him

I fancied spaghetti with tomato sauce for dinner and Gil AGAIN cleared
his plate so guess he enjoyed it as well
Spencer went to the movies with his old girlfriend Migdalia's grandson
Nate who is Autistic and still misses Spencer it seems according to
his dad Ivan
Blaine went to help out at a Easter Egg hunt they had 4000 eggs hidden around
this park near where we used to live back in the 70's in Bridgeport
Looks like we shall get the showers over night ,but supposed to clear
for tomorrow

So had my shower washed my hair and now going to lay me down
till I get CALLED

Cliff will be with her Margaret but he's a push over where Sylvia is concerned, well scared of not doing what she wants.  Mad    I could shake her as well Margaret....and Cliff.

Also you know when you've been crying a lot and you get red & puffy eyes......not a red or puffy eye in sight, she puts the tissue to her eyes and makes "Boo hoo"  and sobbing noises, honest she says "Boo hoo" with the tissue up to her eyes but when it's removed no tears or anything, unlike her Cousin Bev who can cry real tears when she wants to.  Rolling Eyes

I can see the picture now, anything to get home and lay in bed
yelling "I'm dying!"
and getting her way all the time.
I hope someone is with her when the Drs. explain more
about her condition and how it can be treated, if it
can be treated .
She ought to know that dying from liver cancer is very
painful and all the wine in the world will not take it away.
I am sure there are options for her but she wants to
play Camille on her death bed! confused2
I don't understand people like that.
I wish I could come over and shake the S*** out of her.

Hi Choccy P.....Oh Dave Phillips flippin heck.

Though the  sunny  was out the wind was very cold.

As I said it was a cold wind ....so I was shocked to see Sylvia & Cliff outside the front of the hospital, not at the entrance but near to it and Sylvia was smoking, she had her fleece and a blanket but she was still cold  ....I said "What on earth are you doing sitting out here?" she said "I'm having a fag"  then started to cry (yes she knows Carole)  between sobs she went on "They're trying to take me away from Cliff" I told her that they were trying to make sure she was with Cliff longer, she kept saying "I've got this thing in me" I said "Yes Sylvia but they've found it now and they'll come up with the best way to treat it"  she then said ....I kid you not...."But I want to go home and have a drink with my cigs"   Shocked  I said "Don't be so silly....drink is out for you from now on" and Cliff agreed but Sylvia said "It's not the same having a fag without a drink as well"   THEN she said "I'm going to ask the nurse if Cliff can bring a bottle of wine in"  well my mouth was wide open I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. Cliff said "She won't be having a drink" and Sylvia said "Huh you don't know what I'll be having when you're at work"   Mad  we then went back to the ward, I was frozen if she wasn't, she then had another cry and then she said "Cliff I want another fag" and into the wheel chair she went and he took her outside again.....I came away.   AND from being able to get out of bed and walk about she's gone backwards....couldn't get from the bed to the wheel chair without help.  OR put her fleece on without help. And her arms were working on Monday  I've tried to tell her if they've caught it early enough she'll be fine  "No I've got Cancer you don't get over that" I told her about you, my friend Lynne and Cliff told her about her neighbour across the road.....but no.  No talking to her.

Mmmm chips, think I'll put some oven chips in.

Well said Margaret about the whistle   OR the mobile/phone

Sorry to hear about Tabitha Margaret.

Carole, for goodness sake get Gil whistle!
I had a police whistle from the UK which
Peter used often when he was in bed and he was
only steps away from the living room but had
not much power to talk above a certain level
let alone shout. They have no idea of time.
I got lots of complaints that he had been
trying to get my attention for over an hour
when I knew that was not true either.

Peter did get to the point where he programed
the house phone # into his old flip phone so
he could call me in any room in the house
as we have phone hand sets in each room.
It was easier to solve the problem if I could,
than argue about it. Other wise I would have been
arguing all day every day.
I hung the whistle on a long shoe lace round his neck.
At that stage, he was already wearing the tiny remote
for his hearing aids around his neck also his Medic
Alert tags so one more item was not a problem.

Well, its getting a bit more complicated with Big Red.
Seems they will be sending it out to have the fuel
system looked at as it is beyond the repair they
tried. It won't be taken until Monday and it might take
a few days. I waited until 4pm yesterday just in case
they called me to pick it up as I was ready to do a dash to
the DMV before it closed at 5pm but I had to do some shopping
as I was out of canned cat food and they called the house just
after 5pm!
God job I have another working car so I am not stuck at home.

Tabitha is suffering from some kind of allergy and I think its the
clumping cat litter so bought home a plain clay cat litter and am
going to toss out the old litter and see if that helps.
If it doesn't, I will call the vet to ask about antihistamines.

I am trying to decide what to wear for the posh brunch that I am
going to tomorrow, its Sunday, its Easter and its at a posh country
club. I am sure that the others will be in dressy casual. Now I
have to see if I have something to fit the bill.

Right now I have nothing on my calendar except my meetings for
the next two weeks at least, I have a meeting with Brian on the
5th of May and if I get Big Red back I will take it for the plates.
I might go to the Wednesday night dinners but that is it for now.

It gives me a chunk of time to do a few things like hose down the
front porch and furniture and plant the two big bowls I have on
the steps.
There are also two porch rail plant boxes and a box on the outside
plant shelf under the bedroom window that is also waiting.
These only take a watering can so I can manage that.
It will be a start anyway. the rest will come later.
I have all the windows open and there is a nice clean smell in
the air. Humidity is close to normal for here,39%.
Its shirt sleeves all the way!.

Morning Choccy ,hope YOUR catmilkbowl did
not wake you up then take himself back to HIS
BED to SLEEP headbanger
Fancy the headball player was buying a bag
of CHIPS funnytvprog funnytvprog

Morning Vicky ,umm so it is cancer ,how bad I wonder
so hope you will let us know when you come back
Your right about ANY liquor taken in moderation is
normally OK but not the way you said she used to
guzzle it down bondchamps

That was part of my friend "Lester's" problem he liked his drink
but not just beer hard liquor something I hated in them
days and one of the things that broke Gil and I up the first
time around ,Gil does not drink anymore or but with
all his health problems now makes you wonder should he have
kept on as I know he enjoyed having a few beers and a smoke confused2
Could it have been ANY WORSE confused2

Life is funny right ?

So does Sylvia KNOW Shocked

As to ear plugs Vicky .more like as it was not on THAT loud
and another thing the Dr said was that Gil whose hearing has been going for
years after working in the Drop Forging for 40+years, in the ear where he had
a perforated ear drum back before we married in 1959 and why he was turned down
for active service as he wanted to go in the Dragoons ,he could see the scar tissue
but it was loaded with wax that he would be leery removing
The earphones I have for him to watch TV in the living room he has up
SO LOUD they BLAST your ears ....no he was just being MARDY Rolling Eyes

Anyway see you later sunny out and its going to be a lovely day
once it warms up as we dropped into the low 40's over night ...
warming up to around 60f today then MUCH warmer Easter Sunday
with a shower over night

Hi all,

Carole B, looks very much like the cat I used to have. catmilkbowl

OK went for a curry in Leamington last night before a gig watching a band called Secret Affair, anyway between courses the door open and I immediately recognised the guy none other than (you had to be a City fan to appreciate this) Dave Phillips, former player and F.A Cup winner for us. Anyway he ordered chips, so he was quite common chattable

So this Stroke was a blessing in disguise. So much for talktohand "Oh it's red so it's good for you" well yes the odd glass but bottles. Mad

Ear plugs for Gil Carole.

Morning everyone tired
Wish SOMEONE had not taught
Buddy catmilkbowl  to tell clock
had me awake at 5am trying to open
the bedroom door
Now I am up he is laying here on the floor
next to me ...
Spencer did not roll in until 230am ,not sure if
that was a PLANNED stay over or if he fell to Sleep
again at Carmen's as he has done a few times after
going over there after work .....

Gil was in a bitchy mood last night ,I came back out
here at 9pm and he was laying back on the sofa saying
he had been CALLING me for AGES as he could not get
up confused2
I told him he must not have been calling very LOUD as
I did not hear him ,anyway walked him into bed and
was watching the remainder of the program I HAD been
watching and he is snapping "TURN THAT OFF"
I said no and did not turn it off until it finished at 10pm

Anyway glad Bond arrived OK and that the food is good and places
to visit
I will have the same as Vicky Bond with maybe a few slices
of crispy bacon on the side of the

Whats on YOUR agenda today Vicky are you going anywhere
to eat tomorrow ?

Morning all from the left coast of the US.

Its going to be a lovely day today, hope it will
last all weekend.
Had a good day yesterday, took Big Red into
the service station and got a ride home in a
BMW convertible!
After that I went to the DMV and as it was their
slow day I go to the desk quite quickly.
Told the clerk what I wanted and he asked if the
car was outside that needed the replacement plates
I told him it was in for service and he surprised
me . It seems if you show up with the car and the
form, they can give you the replacement plates and you
can fit them on the car right there the same day!
He said to show up with a screwdriver and I will be
good to go. They must have a plate stamping machine
who knew?  confused2
Businesses usually do not observe Good Friday here,
They know that their Catholic staff will go to early mass
and come to work.
They don't observe Easter Monday either.
I looked the DMV up online to make sure and all government
offices must be open today.
If I get Big Red back in time I might take a run back there
today.
Got a good nights sleep last night (apart from one  run
to the little room) so quite chirpy this morning.

If the same person is left in charge of Cov City it will just keep
going down until it disappears down the drain.
Its such a shame that there is not a group of investors who
can dethrone the wicked witch of the east.
It seems the evil ones are not going to give up until the
club is bankrupt and they have drained every penny they can
until the end.

I learned my lesson after one of my early cats was shot at with
an air gun on the street below. Fortunately the pellet was not near
anything vital so it was left there the rest of her life.
I had one hit by a car and got a dislocated hip ($$$)
and one that was chased by a dog and as he was climbing the fence
the dog got a good chomp on one of his rear feet ($$$) again as
it became a big abcess !
So it was a relief to have the later ones indoors.
There are too many dogs around locally now (not that any are left out
off leash) but they do escape and too much traffic on our street, it used to be so quiet.
Now of course we are coping with Coyotes!
The other creatures seem to take a benign attitude towards cats so
no problems with Raccoons, Skunks or Possums.

Trump is getting himself into deeper and deeper hot water as every day goes by.
I won't watch the news anymore on TV. I give a once over to CNN and BBC
on my ipad and I am done.
Think I will have a mini bagel with a little cream cheese and a dab of lemon curd
and a frothy coffee. TTFN
Just caught your post Carole, at least you know where you stand with Gils health.
It could have been a lot worse. Sometimes you just have to count the very small
miracles in life as a tick on the positive side.

Well shortened version of a long story
Dr was nice but says Gil has cataracts in BOTH eyes
and a heart murmur and that one of his valves sounds
"tight" and Gil might need an operation to which my husband said
NO! and he does not want to be resuscitated should the need arise
Also suggested we get a power of attorney in case something should happen
to ME as we do not have any in place right now so guess he is sending
the paper work to me as I have NO IDEA confused2
Otherwise he said Gil is in pretty good shape has no dementia
and his memory is OK {it was better}
He has ordered a echo sound and a chest Ex-ray and blood work
all being done here
He asked if Gil had ever seen a cardiologist ,I said no except whom
ever he saw while in hospital so being as HE works FOR Bridgeport
Hospital he can access Gil's files ,as she said maybe its not THAT
bad confused2

Anyway that's my news ,he will be back in a month ,and then his PA Brenda
will be coming to see Gil every 3 mths
They also have two nurses at the hospital that are called GEMS,they did extra
years so are almost like Dr's who can help move us through the hospital
faster should we have to go during the day time hours
This is all to try and keep seniors at HOME and out of hospitals etc

OK must away your book sounds interesting Vicky

Bound feet Vicky very cruel Shocked

Well sad day today Cov's been relegated, we're now back to the 2rd Div well 4th Div really. where we started off all those years ago when Jimmy Hill started the big climb all the way to the top flight.   Sad

And Bond burns the hot cross buns. Mad    And Trump is being the " I'm the BIG man"  and he isn't. They're both totally mad.....no not you Bond Trump and the other idiot Kim Jong-um two mad men together....no not you Bond..   BOND BOND    is he still looking at the picture of that girl on the scooter?

My book is really good though very Sad  this little girls Daddy (she calls him Baba) does work for the Emperor, one day he displeases the Emperor and he's arrested and beheaded the next day....his number one wife doesn't know what to do with the child (she's 7)  her mother was a Concubine, but much loved by her Daddy, number one wife hated the Concubine so she didn't much like the child,  a hag came to the gate and said "I hear you have a child to sell" and she gave the wife this Contract to read and sign, so she signed it for 6 silver coins, of course she knew the child would be sold by the old woman to a brothel....and she was, though a maid at the brothel befriended her.  The child's Daddy hadn't bound her feet because he wanted her to run, jump and skip but the brothel madam has called for the "foot binder"   and it tells you how they used to bind the feet,   terrible, just terrible,   oh what we used to, AND STILL DO,  do to our children in the name of beauty, religion or culture.  AND IT'S WRONG.   soapbox    Looks down...."BOND"

HOLY smoke Vicky better SEW that slit up
your showing your BUM cheek
don't want a cop pulling you over ,well
unless he is CUTE

Hi Marge I have never seen a flea on Buddy
either which surprised me being as he was in and out '
{BEFORE} been "IN" now for a MONTH all day AND NIGHT
He only fusses when I go near the back door ,but once
I go back into the living room he calms down and either
lays in the front bay window or goes into his room
and into his bed to
No excuses funnytvprog funnytvprog

I grew up from age 4 to when he got poisoned when I
was 12 with a cat called Ticker ,he did not come in the
house at ALL as he got older got fed by the back door by my Nan and
not sure where he slept at night as she would not allow
him in even though my Step dad bought him for me as a ball of fluff
He would jump up into my arms and suckled on my
lapels of my coat or dressing gown if I saw him before
my bed time ,I can hear her yelling NOW
"GET THAT FILTHY THING AWAY FROM YOUR FACE "
and he was not a dirty cat ,he followed me every where
down to the corner shops stopped outside while I went in
then walked back by my side to the house
He even attacked a dog who jumped out on me and got
bitten on his neck for his trouble  ,that was when Nan allowed him in
and doctored him ,she said a few inches more and he would
have been dead that was about a year before we moved
to te new houses on Deedmore Rd ,but even though I buttered
his paws he always went back to my Nans house ,he died two weeks
before she dared tell me ,we think the next door neighbor done it
as Ticker would chase her cat out of Nans veggie garden wher he used to
try to do his "business"
Nan said she found him in the gutter at 7am barely alive and could
see he had been poisoned confused2 ,what made her mad was the neighbor
MUST have seen him three at 5am if she could have got him earlier
maybe he could have been saved as it looks like he had crawled home.... Sad

Anyway Spencer due home ,Gil once more CLEARED his plate
I asked if it was because I was getting better at
cooking or because he was hungry ...his reply "cos I am hungry "
then started laughing
Catch you tomorrow
When again do you go Bond ?
Gym in the garage @ with FULL LENGTH MIRRORS

Rubbish Carole some cats stay in at night some don't doesn't mean to say the ones which stay in at night are house cats because it doesn't, I grew up with cats some stayed in at night others didn't.....and you didn't think about Buddy being hit by a car when you were "enticing" him to your house with meals, don't make excuses Mrs Bourne    talktohand  THOUGH Carole....stop sulking and listen....it's a good job you did or heaven only knows what would have become of Buddy.     Well with your Chocolate cake   talktohand  no I can't have any, BUT I've got iced fingers....no not MY fingers the finger cakes AND hot cross buns AND doughnuts....we can having    any crisps Bond?

Our kids are off next week as well Carole.....we've got them  Thursday & Friday.

Yes Bond we need keeping an  eye  on..... run  run  run    Specially Carole.

Ohhh I hate that Margaret de-clawing catmilkbowl  no you wouldn't be able to let him/her out doors because the cat just wouldn't be able to defend it's self....poor little thing.     Same with tail docking because they think the dogs look better .....the Kennel Club have a lot to answer for.    Grrrrr!!!    now look what's happened I've gone all green and I've ripped my shirt.

Benjie has flea & Tick in tablet form,  as is his worming also which he has every 3 months......he does have Lepto 4 which is an injection once a year and that covers  Weils disease & he has a spray up his nose for Kennel Cough once a year.

Most of the cats I "adopted" were outside cats
but managed to get them coming in for the night
at least. After a few vet bills I vowed that from
then on it was inside only for future cats.
I adopted a cat that had been declawed by its
previous owner and I got it on the promise that
it would be kept inside only.

My cats react the same way when I put the flea stuff
on.I have never seen a flea on my present cats and
I check regularly. It seems they are immune so
I don't use it unless its really needed.

I use a very old fashioned device called a flea trap
which works, its a small round or square dish with
a cage like structure over it with a small light and
a sticky pad in the bottom. When its dark, its the
only light and it attracts the fleas (and other insects).
Its small enough to hide out of sight behind a chair
or in a corner. You can get replacement sticky pads
but I don't have to change mine but every few months.
We near the beach tend to have flea season all year
round as it does not get cold enough to kill them off.

There were only seven of us at Sizzler last night (seems
some ladies are a bit snobbish about going to anything
but a normal coffee shop or restaurant) They like to
be waited on. The only thing you do yourself is the
salad bar, the entrée is delivered to the table!
The company was still good and we all cleaned our
plates.
I am off in a little while to deliver Big Red to the service
place, its only a five minute drive and I always get a
ride back from one of the staff. I am sure its only
a dirty clogged fuel sensor as everything else is working
fine. I have to be able to see how much fuel is in the tank
so I don't run out when I am out driving somewhere.
Big Red does drink a lot! :-D
Need to get going here so TTFN

Cruel Vicky .....no keeping him safe
what if he got hit by a car while crossing
the road to where we THINK he was abandoned
from ,what if he got hurt fighting with another cat
or a Skunk/Raccoon that roam our back yard
Or got REALLY sick from a Deer tick confused2
A Ferrel cat will ALWAYS want to go out but its obvious
that Buddy USED to be a house cat otherwise he would
not settle down the way he does and stay in all night

As to coming out of the EU I understand all that talktohand but
it does not help when I count our pennies ...

Went to the store in a tee shirt even though its only 50f
as the sunny is brilliant today and little wind around

Kids are off this week for Spring break

I have taken out a whole chicken to cook for tonight picked
it up for under $5 so better get to it before the Visiting nurse
arrives run run run run

Bond any more muffins and could you MELT some cheese on mine

Cruel Carole cruel. nono catmilkbowl

I know all about house cats....The Witches cats were house cats because they were Persian cats and it's not safe to let them out, until HE told her he didn't like cats and she had to get red of them, so she ended up giving them back to the breeder she'd bought them from....Willow was/is a Feral cat so didn't like to be indoors much at all.

I'd rather be out from under the EU Boot Carole.....sorry, I want OUR laws not the EU bullying us "Can't have this can't do that.....and give us all your money" Holland would leave tomorrow IF they were allowed a vote.

Yes I've got a little barbie doll pink shoe as well funnytvprog

Oh dear no wonder Louie is tired it's not good doing all that and only having a couple of hours sleep.

Well it's chilly out there.....off to Rob's to give the kids their easter cards with £5 in each one. Then it's to the pet shop to get Benjie his food....then a look around and nibbles.

Morning ,sorry I was AWL last night
Buddy was not feeling well after I put his flea
drops on him {but is back to his normal self
this morning thank goodness} I would not have
bothered only thought,IF I let him out again I do not want
him unprotected
Spencer was not pleased at me said I had "killed" him
and that he did not know why I did it if he is staying in now
,anyway he even came onto our bed last night and slept
for part of the night with Gil and I so knew he was not feeling good
I remember Vicky you saying he was not a house cat then ,well none
are really unless never let out from the start of when you have them
like Tabitha {Spencer's cat} ,but they can become house cats if you
have the perseverance ....

Anyway up earlier than normal as I want to give Gil his shower
before the Visiting nurse comes at 1030am ,and straight after
the Occupational nurse will be here between 11-12noon

I see my UK Social Security $$ went in today instead of Saturday
when it was due ,guess because of it being Easter weekend
the £ is at $1.25 this morning ,but still getting on MINE over $50 less
not so bad mine but looked back at what Gil was getting on his a month
and before the  came out ,he is down about $200 a month Mad
Got the raise as well this time but hard to tell what it was confused2
Ah well what you don't have you don't miss they say   Sad

Bond has a LONG memory I see Vicky ....I always fancied a little scooter
when we were living at home ,closest I got was my Raleigh PUSH BIKE

Marge hope your neck is back to normal today as well ...and you completed
your LIST of things to do WELL DONE

Glad the P/T therapist who filled in yesterday is not the one we have
normally  talktohand  I was waiting on Gil falling as the things she had him
doing, cannot explain on paper but she KNEW his balance is whats off
and had him doing walking exercises that I thought any minute he is going to go
over and pull her with him and she would not be able to stop him as she was
a slip of a thing and when Gil goes down he goes like a TON of BRICKS
I think she realized that and stopped thank goodness even I who have no problems
had a job doing what she was making Gil try Mad
I know every one has their own methods but headbanger
Amanda will be back next week thank goodness

I see Trump is saying we are not getting along with Russia ....NO KIDDING
SHERLOCK ,he fires off the shot heard around the World then says
he is not going into Syria talktohand  don't get me wrong what they did
to those poor people was not right ,but you do not bomb someone
and then basically walk away ,and what about all the OTHER times
the Syrians have been killed like this as its not the first time , Shocked  WHOOPS
sorry soapbox
Onto another subject yes a lot of April babies born in here

Anyway Spencer is managing so far as Louie got the other job but its
third shift so he is working from 8am to 3pm at the service station doing
emissions {which frees Spencer up to do any repairs} then he goes home
to sleep a few hours before going into work at 11pm at the University
doing maintenance work
Spencer said right now its killing him as he wants to go to sleep tired when he gets
to work with him ,so not sure how LONG he will be able to keep it up
but on the other hand he is only doing 40hrs at the new job no O/T so
needs the $$ he makes from the station  plus it allows Spencer to continue
taking Saturdays off
Not sure whats going to happen in September when Spencer goes with Carmen
to the wedding in Puerto Rico ,seems it will be flying out Thursday returning
during the day Monday  so he will miss Thursday friday and Monday  confused2
I see I have written a "missive" as my dear departed Aunt  Dotty used to call my letters
Sorry run run run run run
