Thank you for that Vicky, hi Marge we have a Caldicote Hall near us, famous for a round head and cavaliers battle at the hall and the hall held out against them, the church in the grounds has the musket rounds in the door as these were on the hall at the time, when the did finally smoke them out it was only the lady of the hall and the kitchen staff that had held them at bay, the roundheads were that taken aback that they didn't rape and pillage

I guess he didn't have a lot of choice if she wants to
keep on smoking and drinking. Most homes don't
allow smoking indoors and don't normally allow
booze on the premises either.
Sorry to be missing yesterday but a last minute
invitation to breakfast at the Home Town Buffet.
Lorna tends to not eat properly for a while and
then craves "normal food".
I had scrambled egg, two small sausages, a couple of
strips of bacon, some home style potato hash and a
just baked biscuit with a cup of coffee .
The others all had a desert but I am trying to stay
away from sweet things and limiting my carbohydrate
intake as much as I can. I am addicted to a brand of
very light and airy corn chips with sea salt.
so probably getting too much salt. Last night I ate a
bag of popcorn while watching Call the Midwife and
Home Fires. Its already dry popped and has a slight
sweet and sour taste without anything added.

I did do a few things after I napped. I have a short list
of things I want to take care of today left over from yesterday.
I write it all down on a post it note pad at night

Had another long conversation with Ian on the phone and he
is still treating me like an idiot as far as the ancestry search fees
are concerned. After about half an hour of back and forth we finally
understood each other about the free trial offer I am using now
and that I need the level of search I willbe using as Peter and my
relatives seem to have wandered all over the place.
Germany (for Peter) and Australia (we both have cousins there)
and I have a bunch in Canada in Ontario to trace.

On Peters email account he was contacted by some lady who is
forming a single family name group for the all the Caldicotts.
She herself is one. Ian already vetted it so I think I will
contact her in the UK to add what I have.
There were an awful lot of Caldicotts in Warwickshire in the
late 1700 and 1800s
It was the same in Essex with the Porters, hundreds of them!
That's why even after reading the census records I have to
verify all the birth and death records that point me to the right
ones. Depending if the census was done before or after their
birthday, their ages don't match and some times, they out
and out lie about how old they are.
I went back and looked at a small branch of my family tree and
it does not fit with what I know now.
There are still gaps and I am not happy with the transcripts these
services provide of the records as a mistake can send you off all
over the place.
None of that today until AFTER I have done my other chores!

The sun is out here but when I woke up it was only 51f!
A little later it will be warm enough to open the windows again,
nothing better than fresh air!

It seems he's putting her in this place in Market Bosworth .....I'll certainly not be able to go and visit that often, he said "It's not too far away"     confused2  don't know how he can think that.

Right back later...... oh just looked it's not too bad just over 10 miles about 21 minutes.

Grey here too.

I did the same Bond when I was in hospital, and when I was leaving I said to the nurse "Thank you for all you're doing" and she said "Oh that's lovely of you" .... I always say "Thank you" to the nurses or sister when I'm leaving.    We can say "Oh she's ill you must excuses her" but I know her, say "NO" to Sylvia and she throws a temper tantrum  she's spoilt.

Popping in to see  this morning.

Morning Carole........will answer later

Good morning all from Atherstone a bit grey over here but it said to get better
That is terrible about the way she treats the nurse, when I was in I treated them like goddesses, I know they are not aways but I would never do or say anything to upset them, they are the ones that are holding you life in their hands
Breakfast and it's Shredded Wheat and warm milk, toast and marmalade Coffee tea orange juice
Back later before going to work

I don't know if they fold up at night Carole.....not been out to check on them funnytvprog I was thinking they *might* be primrose, but David said he didn't think so.....talk about the blind leading the blind Smile anyway I'll have to check up tomorrow, see what it says on the small stick.

Cliff says he's trying for tomorrow.....if it's where he says it is we'll not be visiting as often, it's a fair way for us to go.

We had nearly all of the "Five" books....still got a few left, most of them went to the grandkids though, I've got a lot of "Noddy" books and "Rupert" annuals I bought a lot for Steve & Rob and then Susan had them read to and then read them herself.....I've still got Little Women & What Katy Did....I've got those when I was 11.

Right it's bed time.....nighty night.

Susan said Matt replied well we'll take the tent you can camp on the bank. Oh they are funny.

Hi was just going to  when Susan & Matt plus Nassie came back from Jessica's......so they we're for the off and then I went to see Grumpy. Mad  I stayed only 20 minutes, she was vile to the nurses.....on being told her coffee was here "I'm not having that s%&@"   then trying to put her legs off the side of the bed and finding out the sides were up "Who's put these up?"  and the nurse who'd just come in the room said "Because you keep trying to escape"  Sylvia replied "And who put you in charge of this s%&@ hole?"  and she whispered to me "I'll be pleased to get out of this s%&@ heap"  I thought and they'll be packing you off waving madly.....she cocked her leg up and let a large one go and said to the nurse "I farted and that's what I think of you" and then yelled out to everyone "I did a loud fart that's what I think of you lot"  Ok ok I realise she doesn't know what she's doing or saying but I also realise she's angry because they're stopping her doing what she wants to do.     Oh she whispered to me "I've got a bottle of murlot hidden from these lot"   I thought I bet you have and I bet you have since you've come in.

Anyway had a lovely weekend, didn't do much yesterday but today we went to Sutton Wharf, lovely walk to Bosworth Fields but oh I wish dog owners would pick their dogs poo up, just because you're walking down the path with woods either side doesn't mean "Oh it's the countryside we don't need to bother"  YOU DO.    it gives us dog owners a bad name.  soapbox   BOND help me down please.    Though we stopped on the way back at the riverside cafe ....Oh I had club sandwich, they could teach the pub I used to go to with Sylvia on a Wednesday a thing or two...good food, and the presentation 10/10  and the service 10/10.....lovely watching the barges go by.

Oh Margaret   do understand .....spend on other things but   talktohand  "It'll last a bit longer"  Mad

Oh but that's lovely David dropping in to see you and you meeting his girlfriend at long last.

Glad you had a good day with your friends Bond.

You whooooo Vicky santa santa  here I be
so your doggie sitting @ lucky you ,,,
And Sylvia is going to a private home , well I guess
if they have the ££ why not confused2

Weather cleared up and its a breezy but very blue skied
and sunny  afternoon temps 65f right now

Was out side earlier before Spencer left and our beloved
Landlady came around looking for her 4 mths worth of
rent checks ,supposedly she came by twice before ,when
I do not know as she left me a message on the house phone
while I was out back and kept ringing the door bell that
naturally I could not hear ,and Gil could not answer ...we have told
her time and time again telephone  before you come out
but she never does she just turns up expecting you to be home
She of course was full of her family who have been ill etc etc
I told her about Gil as well ,she said is there anything needs
doing so told her a few things that I KNOW will not get done
as her favorite pitch is "she cannot get any one to do the jobs"
well that is because she she not PAY them headbanger
Anyway we will see what happens

Was going to do the washingbasket  but Spencer left late
and just did not feel like doing it after so will do it tomorrow

Oh Marge I love reading your ,I guess all you can do is
thank God Peter did leave you in good shape $$ wise ,had to funnytvprog
at your DNA definition  of a Scot/German funnytvprog

Hope they can do something with the sensor in Big Reds tank
so you do not have to make such a LARGE outlay ..

Now my Ex was just the opposite with his Classic cars that he had
did not care WHAT he spent on them as long as he got them in shape
always remember the argument we had when I returned from the UK
in '95 to find he had MAXED out a credit card on chroming the engine
out on one of them affraid

Anyway Gil is watching Cinamax ,made us a grilled cheese and tomato
for lunch ....

Going for a early shower  as I want to wash my hair

So speak later if not tomorrow

I got to Brian's office yesterday afternoon and
neither of us knew what the meeting was about!
confused2 confused2 confused2
Brian had to call his wife to find out what was to
be discussed and it turned out he could get more
information from Ian than me so they are having
a internet conference call this morning then Ian will
boil it all down and tell me what needs to be done
financially to bring my tax base down as right now
it looks like a mucho hit next year.
Guess Ian and I will have to do another incoming and
outgoing spread sheet like he did last year which helps
me a lot.

It is cool and overcast here as well. Local temp stands at
62f. Forecast is for a high of 67f and showers later.
I still have to run a couple of errands but they are very local.

Got a call from the service station, it seems that the fuel tank
and sensor were replaced at some point with generic ones
but they cannot find replacements now. To have a whole
new tank and sensor is mucho ,mucho $$$$$$ so
they have sent the sensor to a firm in Arizona to get it
reconditioned and see if that works. If not, I will just have to
bite the bullet and get a new tank and sensor.
It has to be done either way as its not drivable as is.

Just one of the things that happen with cars that old.
(and having a husband who was a cheapskate)
The tank had to have been replaced at least 20 years ago
and it would have been easier to get a factory part
then.
Frankly, I don't care how much it costs to fix, I say
fix it and be dammed!

With as much money as Peter was socking away before
he retired he could have afforded it . When I think of
all the money he spent on those trips, we did not have
to do a second trip on the QM2!
He knew that the mechanics were telling him how
special this particular car was all along.
Well, I am going to complete the restoration and have
to joy of driving it as long as I can.

Its amazing how thrifty a person with Scots/German DNA
can be. The Scot does not want to spend at all and the
German wants the cheapest and quickest deal going.
That described Peter.
Now I am stuck with 2 and 1/2 acres of sand in the desert!
Enough of the pity pot.
I have enough to keep me busy this weekend so will just
get on with it and not waste time anymore wallowing in
anger and self pity.
I am OK, I am in my right mind and fairly healthy for
someone my age, I have enough money to keep me
comfortable so what do I have to complain about?
a bit fat NOTHING !!!!!!

Susan, Matt & Nessie have arrived, though Susan has now gone off to have lunch with a couple of her ex work chums and Matt's gone to have a look around the camping store so we're doggie sitting. Smile

Cliff telephone he's found a private home for Sylvia to go, hopefully Monday....he mentioned where it was but can't find it, he'll let me know when she moves and then I can get more info.

Later I've got Nessie sat on my knee. Shocked

Morning from a SOGGY Bridgeport
BOY did it rain all day PLUS I let Buddy
out at 430am this morning as it looked
like it had stopped ,but then saw a few drops
starting went back to the back door and he was
wanting in...had not been in and I was back in bed
10mins when it TIPPED IT DOWN
Had eased off again by the time I got up at 645am
could see a brief shower this morning before it clears
up after lunch ,so the day will not be a complete
wash out as a lot of festivals going on today including
a Golf Tournament a Greek Festival {great food}
and some walks for cancer etc

Bond were those two dogs in seats ??

I guess Susan and Nessie will have arrived by now Vicky
Not sure what I am doing today yet ,oh except the washingbasket
that I cannot start until Spencer gets up and leaves

Did we have another "visit" last night ????
Shocked hommmmmmmmmm

Ok I shall be back later just confused1 my I had to make
myself funnytvprog funnytvprog

Hi all,
I think we are finally having a slight turn in the weather
here. Its overcast and hazy here at the moment, temp.
stands at 59f right now. High is supposed to be 66f today.
Forecast is for showers tomorrow and Thunderstorms on
Sunday.
May is usually one of the best months here as the sunny
is out but temps are in the 65-75f range so ideal.

Yes, I believe that Sylvia will not go gently into her goodnight.
Its going to be hard on anyone looking after her.
I hope God spares her that ordeal.

I have been spending more time than I should on my ancestry
research. Ian said "Mum its all on the family tree online".
I had to correct him, its done from Peters view of HIS family tree
and some of mine. I am trying to fill it out on my side as there
are living members on my side that might want this information.

Frank Guest(my Great Grandfather on my Dads side) is proving
elusive in certain places when he is not with his parents or wife
#1 or #2. Both died in childbirth. I only know of one child that
survived and that is my Grand mother.(Dads Mum)
Its easy to get side tracked as a lot of Guests were born
in Northamptonshire during the time range I am looking at.

If you were to read Peter's life story I don't appear very much.
I get a paragraph each about the birth of our children but not
much else. He wrote mainly about his career and his interests.
I am just trying to redress the imbalance a little.
I can look up Births, Marriages and Deaths and the censuses
as far as they go. The Chapman's will be interesting as my
Gran(my Mums Mum) had three older brothers and they
must have had families also.
Ian is still questioning me about my sanity on FB messenger.
As I said, most of it is on a free trial basis for another two
weeks. There is nothing else I would rather do at the moment
when I have free time.
Time to get the show on the road here, things to do and places to
go. TTFN
