Yes as Bond says we celebrated the 11th of the 11th yesterday also BUT the BIG march and laying of wreaths was today, on the Sunday.....also once again 2 minutes silence today as it was yesterday.

Yes Prince Philp is 97 Carole, the Queen is 91.  Prince Philip did well to be doing what he did right up until last year.....standing at all the various venues the way he did.

Sorry been nattering on the telephone  to Susan......we can't half natter  Smile

We went and bought some more christmas presents.......and Lily's Christening present.

I had a brown suede mini skirt Bond.  *bats eyelashes*

Oh no I meant I've still got some of the Dots sweets Carole, being really good....one  or two every so often....think I've got 3 left.

It's the same with the Merchant Navy Margaret it took a while for them to get their recognition, they only got to March in 2000, Women have only just got their recognition in what they did in the wars.

Went to the BIG Palmers today Sir Graham.

Awwww Carole as  a little  baby though we can only see a bit of her.

It looks really cold this morning over in London, most of the spectators
are in thick winter coats.
Prince Phillip being an ex navy man who served in WW2 will be attending
this event until he falls off the perch.

Nice article on BBC news on my iPad about the Indian participation in both
world wars saying that even Muslims volunteered as well as all the other sects.
It listed how many Victoria crosses they won and how many died but it is only now
it has been publicized more after Ancestry research had been done into
how large their contribution was.

It was the same here, for many years after WW2, no mention was made about
the Japanese American Unit that fought in Italy and got the name as the
"Go for Broke" group. they ended up being the most decorated unit of WW2.

It was only about twenty years ago as they got older that someone started a
campaign to recognize all that they had accomplished. There is now an oral
history museum in one of our local towns in the South Bay to honor them.

Gardena has always been the center of all things Japanese but they were
losing their history fast because all the Vets were dying so instead of asking
these old people to write their memories and history they used a recording
machine and photographed the old pictures in the Vets homes.
These young men went to war knowing that most of their relatives were in
Internment camps here in California!
I find History fascinating no matter what time period or country.

The weather looks really like an English winter this morning.
Its over cast and misty but it would be warm for you guys at 68f!
Got some shopper to do is all. Then its back to the house
and more sorting and tidying up.
Its like putting your finger in a dyke, you stop it at one end and its leaks at
another!

More clouds here today and its only 26f at 745am
GOOD boy Buddy since the cold weather started he has
not been running around in the morning trying to wake
us and in fact was still cuddled up on the bottom of our bed

But up now and I have to go to the  shopper

I will look at the white bulkie package later
yes Gil would pop into Thorntons while we waited on
the #21 outside the Hippodrome as we often walked
down from Broadgate after going to the Empire ,LOVED
their toffee as well

I hope you meant you STILL HAD some of the Dots I sent you
and not that they made you ill Vicky   had to read your post again
to make sure .....

Lovely Avatar again a lot of our early baby pictures were lost I am afraid

we even had a local biplane owner fly his red biplane over at 11:00 and then dip his wings but sadly he has died, but still its a very big turn out from the town young and old nice to see
Good breakfast this morning some porridge me thinks tea coffee and L&Ls

Er .....the light soft one is for your birthday.....the heavy one you can open when ever ....you'll be able to feel the weight.    Can't remember which colour tissue I used for which  confused2

I remember you saying you & Gil used to buy the chocolate when you went to the cinema after you'd found them in the parcel last year.  Smile .....glad you're going to ration the sweets Carole I didn't want you taken ill.    Like me with the ones you sent to me.....and which I've still got some left.

I was wearing mini's when I was into my 40's Carole....as we all were.      We'll have to order some more radio times Carole I can see.

New avatar .....it's Steve at 2 sitting on the wall with ....COOMBE ABBEY in the background.    little did we know that we'd stay there on our 40th and our 50th. paid for by the little boy sitting on that wall (also Rob & Susan) Smile

I am surprised David allowed you to wear
a mini Vicky Scottish kilt or not
That is where your daughter gets her young
looks from, her mommy
Did you Sir G LOUD ENOUGH Vicky
obviously he never heard you
They have the Vets outside most grocery stores
here offering the Poppies and you make a donation
That was nice of you bringing  one back
Now I am  confused ???? about the package ,there is one
in red tissue is that for my birthday ?????

I know you sent some candy last year but then I
was not bothered about eating it,so I will ration
these trust me ,I am I guess getting unsweetened as
have not had any Cadbury chocolate now in months
Today I made a one egg omelet for breakfast
Had one slice of bread with some ham and hard salami
on it for lunch and we had WeWah General Tso chicken
for dinner minus the white rice it comes with I could not finish
my portion which is unusual as I can normally eat it all

Any way folks have a good night ???? speak tomorrow

We went to the smaller Palmers  "SIR GRAHAM WE WENT TO SMALLER Palmers"    I had a scone but I also bought another poppy for  she's not been able to get one,  the Co-op isn't selling them .....neither is Asda or Aldi and Morrisons have allowed them to sell the poppies but only outside the store.  Mad  not good at all....and we know why  "Oh we might offend some people"   We're changing to Sainsbury's....anyway saw these poppies and decided to get one for  so she'll have one tomorrow at least.     I bought one from the Electrical store we went to.

I hope they're not getting married next month Carole the Divorce isn't through yet.....I think everything is as it was....not good, Laura was busy doing her homework this morning so we didn't have a conversation apart from  "Do you want any breakfast?"  which she didn't
No Carole they get married next August on her birthday, the day after she got married to Rob    confused2

Silly sausage thinking if he came out you couldn't get pregnant .....though lots of men thought that....one little drop, even at the start.  nono

I nearly didn't because of your diabetes ......btw you got some last year in the parcel I sent over.   Anyway be careful don't eat too many in one go......Oh er you know I'm trying to think.......don't open the soft parcel that's your birthday present .....is that the one in the tissue?   oh anyway don't open the soft parcel.....open the heavy one.Smile

No it wasn't the under 21's......the under 21's did come on to show their Trophy but the game against Germany was the England squad with quite a few England players missing due to ...hem!....injury   Shocked  it was a friendly you see.   Mad

I wasn't out Bond. Smile

You did not cause the argument Carole, it was the way Ian
handled the situation when we were clearing out the hall coat
closet . Sometimes he gets me so confused as he goes so fast
and I did say I wanted to keep the overcoat but he took it anyway when
my back was turned thinking I was too muddled to see he took and hid it
in the trunk of his rental car.

I basically know what I have got here after all these years and can tell
if something I thought I had is not still here.
If I get rid of something I know its gone because I saw it go but Ian
does not run everything by me before making the decision for me.
I am sure there will be other stuff that has gone also without my permission.
The helping hand strikes again!

Big Red is running a treat. The guys at Hillside took it to a carburetor shop
and without knowing it, went to the guy that Chris recommended to me!
So Tim will be on my phone list from now on.
The young Mechanic that helped work on BR also gave me the name and address
of a place in the next town who will do the weather stripping on BR!

The trouble is, all the after market parts are an unknown when you open the box
so you don't know what quality you are getting until it fails. In this case I think we went
through at least three carburetor's in this process which I did not have to pay for as they
were all under a years warrantee and hillside got their money back each time.
I am sure that if these carburetors were put on regular engines they would have been fine.
its just that BR needs more.
I am also sure I got a deep discount anyway as I told the owner when he drove me, how much
sentimental feeling there is about this car as a direct connection with Peter. Its not
about the money anymore.
I got a "Hope we don't see you real soon" when I left the service station. I did call later
to give a message to Dave that BR was running the best it has in years!
Got a couple of errands to run this morning so going to take BR out again cruising.
It seems that Mike is back at work on half days at the moment, after I asked him if he was back
at work or just hanging out. Dave said he was hanging out and Mike said he was doing half
days to begin with. Even the new young man they have working in the office is enjoying the
banter.

The game was a friendly so I only found it by accident and recorded it.
It was on at noon here. Neither side was giving much away so a bit boring for me.
I have the BBC Sports app on my iPad. They list the games at GMT so have to
work out the time difference.
If City stays in the FA cup long enough we might even get to see them play on TV here!

Not sure what I will be doing on Thanksgiving here as Teresa invited Lorna and I to
dinner at her house but it seems some of our Neighbors want to do a get together here
at someone's house. I will go where I am told with a contribution to the pot luck. tongue
I had better drop by Pam's shop to see what English boxed chocolates she has.
I like Quality Street or Roses chocolates but she has others I know.
Well, its time I got going here before the Saturday rush starts at 11 am . TTFN

Vicky .....ummm Thortons LOVE them THANK YOU xx
been MANY MANY years since I had them Smile

now was it the white package I was NOT to open ?

Just back from the store ,but I thought I would pop into the
Food Bazaar at the top of the road as they have family packs of meats
and cheaper than where I do my "big shop"
So I picked up 6 nice pork chops four thin cut steaks ,and a piece
of beef that I have cut into two making for two meals ,probably
use one for ThanksGiving with a small Turkey breast just in case David pops
in as living in New York more now I never know

I am SURE Spencer will be going to Carmen's and as I have said
MANY times before Blaine my human garbage bin does the rounds
of his different mates eating a plate at each as he goes funnytvprog

It is a LOT warmer "feeling" at least out there today as the wind has dropped
even though the proper temp is still only 33f at 1145am

Did not see Vinnie I figured he would not be out with his normal place
he hangs out being closed ,so the coat will stay in my 4x4  till Monday

The hospital called last night and Gil has to go for the scan for DR Small
next Thursday at 1030am so have to get Blaine to ask Danny to come around
and get him down stairs ,once I get to the hospital they will provide a wheel chair
so no need to take ours

Gil watching the replay of England vs Germany as I did not find this the other
day when I guess it was on ,I am assuming its the under 21's confused2

Ok so chat amongst yourselves I shall be back

Morning its cold here but very sunny
They are saying its not going to be as
cold as it was yesterday so should be in the 40's affraid
They had snow in Chicago yesterday so its only a
matter of time confused2
So hows things at Lorna's Vicky don't they get married
next MONTH ?
Always nice seeing the old pictures of when our kids were
little I got pregnant with Spencer when Blaine was only 10mths
old ,even though Gil kept saying "but I -- it out" so you cannot be
BOY did our GP give HIM  talking to when we went to see him nono
So they are only 18 mths and 2 days apart ,my Nan had a FIT as we were
living back at Purcell Rd by then buying her house so her and Grandad
could stay together as neither daughter had room for them both
THAT was the WORST thing we EVER DID ,and I feel guilty for talking
Gil into doing it as even though my Grandparents kept saying "we will
not live forever" ,we were living on top of each other with no privacy
and that was the reason Gil applied for his job over here to get away
Of course my Nan did pass away 2 mths before we left in April 1967
and we sold the house to my Mum for no profit so she could move
out her council house around the corner on Shuttle Street so Grandad
would not have to move then Grandad passed away four  yrs later in 1971
So all in all we would have been living together from when we bought
the house 7 yrs ,and probably divorced by THEN even staying home

OK just threw in a load washingbasket , have to go get Gil up
and so starts my day again

I found a coat of Gil's for Vinnie ,thought I had given it away when we moved
here as its one he was given when he first came over here ,a leather fur
lined bomber jacket that is REALLY heavy and he only wore it once or twice
So will be taking it to him later hope he is out there though as the PO is closed
today other wise I will take it to him Monday

OK MORNING MARGE
LATER you guys hoover lift them feet gotta hoover  the new carpet
run run

Hi yes it looks lovely but another cold one, I've been working I have the garage for a hour making rails for side screens for Oz and my hands are a lovely purple blue colour so can I warm them on your pot?
Just watched the lord mayor show on TV and a friend is flying a balloon there but there was loads of them I can't think of what you call them when they are in the shape of a animal or other object? But you do have to have a ballooners licence to fly one he was in a early bat man film with one of the jokers clown balloons
Toasted teacakes and a cuppa
Glad you still skip around the kitchen littleBlond
talking of emails I'm off to check my ones

Morning.......grey here, Laura's here at the moment it's footy training.

Steve was 2 yrs and 1 month when Rob was born.

We have to renew our licence every 3 years once you get to 70 Carole. I've thought about letting mine go, with my tablets I've not driven for a while.....David drives my car every week to keep the engine going.   He says "Well you never know your body might get used to the tablets and so you could start using it again"   confused2   I think the Statins aren't doing me any good.....I'm going to have a word about them when I go to see my doctor in another 2 months.

I can still dance around the kitchen Bond. Smile

Toasted tea cake please Bond....and a cuppa

Got to look at my emails yet Carole.

Loving my book.

Great avatar of Steve & Rob doing a bit of gardening funnytvprog   Steve 3 and Rob 1. we were living in Bulkington then.

Ahh cute Avatar Vicky ,Tracie was
2 yrs and 3 mths old when we had Blaine
Oh well you see its like this Vicky Gil's drivers
license expires next month {we renew ours every 6 yrs
now we are over 70} and even though its only for a few
outside visits its going to be a lot easier having a disabled
parking permit when he is with me ,I was going to suggest
he not renew his license ,but # 1 he threw a FIT
and # 2 his Alien card also is due for renewal so will
need that to go there ,that was for 10 yrs
Well better go speak tomorrow

I'll be under my duvet soon as well Carole.....it is cold.

Oh at lunch time after the guy had gone I went with David & Benjie for Benjie's walk....or should I say "March"....left right left right....pick those knees up you horrible little female"   Mad  I've never walked so fast in all my life.....until I just stopped still....that was after we'd walked for about half an hour...."I've had enough" David said "Oh do you want to take the quick way home?"  YES I shouted.....to be honest I think he just didn't want me there so was trying to make sure I didn't go again.   Shocked   Now do I still go BUT make sure he walks normally OR do I give in and let him go off on his own....for what ever reason. littleBlond

Avatar is when I brought Rob home from the hospital and his brother looking at Rob in wonder. Steve was 2 yrs and Rob 9 days

He says I agreed with him and I said he was out of his mind.
Anyway its gone so sorry Carole .
Just got back from giving Big Red a test drive and its all fixed now.
Dave is going to order the passenger side headlight pod and when it
comes in I can take BB in to have it replaced and do 30 point
safety check for me.
Going to sit down and have a bite to eat and see what is happening in the rest
of the world today.

These days over here most  dogs get fed on dry food, "kibble" and the odd bit, not a lot,  who said that?  Smile  sorry Carole & Margaret I expect it's gone over your head....a magician called Paul Daniels who died last year was it last year  Bond?   Paul Daniels used to say "You'll like this....not a lot"  anyway back to dog food, kibble and a small piece of chicken for a treat and for breakfast as well as the kibble a quarter of a cooked sausage, we grill 3 sausages and then cut them into quarters which lasts him all week, of course he has a dental stick to chew on every couple of days....and the odd dog treat, though he doesn't like dog biscuits .   NO soft dog food in tins OR BEV  nono  human dinners or human biscuits. Mad   oh Benjie has the odd carrot or frozen pea which he throws about and catches.

Yes Benjie kept looking for me while I was in hospital  Sad  and when I got home he kept looking at me as though he was thinking "Where's she been?" and for days if David came down first he would run upstairs and come and look for me.   So yes they would be
wondering where Dawn was .....awwww.

Oh I didn't say I hadn't a PM from Sir Graham Carole.  Smile

Slide up Bond?   Not around here, you had the wire going through the concrete posts    confused2   the wire was tied off.....no sliding up.

Oh that's nice Carole, you helping that guy.

Oh I love the City Wall Margaret every time we walked by it I used to think of all those people from way way back standing by that wall gossiping (the one in Lamb Street I'm talking about where David's Company used to be)  if it could talk....well how interesting that would be.

Yes England tonight.....That penalty against Ireland certainly wasn't any such thing...... Mad  never in a million years.

Marge that would be lovely
if you ever find it as Vinnie is tall and skinny
I am thinking of going to either Goodwill or
Red Cross to see whats on their racks
I like to think this is my way of giving back
to someone who is even worse off than we are

Just been to the Geriactic care Dr to pick up the paper
work he signed for Gil's handicap marker and its
getting colder the wind is really whipping up and thus dropping
the temps was glad to get home run run run

That's how the City wall disappeared after it was "smitten"
by Henry the VIII !
It made good walls for pig sties and cow Burns and I will bet a lot
went into a few cottages as well.

Weather cannot make up its mind this morning. Pale blue sky with some
white clouds but there are also some grey clouds coming in from the Pacific.
Its about 68f and 52% humidity  but its early yet. The  sunny keeps peeking
through as the clouds go by
Got the International "friendly" at noon on TV here, England vs Germany , always good
for a laugh.
Hoping that Big Red comes home today. Then I can make an appointment to take BB in
for her new  eye and check up.
Must go and get some breakfast as my tummy is doing a rumble rumba.

Carol, I have Peters full length over coat with a fabric fur liner. It might fit him if he is about a
38-40 inch chest. Let me know and I can send it to you, I would rather someone
who needs it get it, than giving it away out here as no one wears those out here.

Morning Bond at 1120am here the temp
with the wind chill factored in is a WHOLE
26f/-3c .that will wake you up
I ran to the store and I have taken under my wing
a almost blind black man who stands outside the Post Office
opening the door for people and hoping for a few cents in
thanks
So for the last few weeks any extra food I have left over
I have been putting into the plastic containers I have and
taken them to him ,he is ALWAYS so thank full and when I see
him the next time he tells me how much he enjoyed it ,
one meal I gave him he told me he added a can of chicken broth
as it had rice and chicken and made it into two meals
I also gave him some of the sweaters too small for Gil and when I
saw him yesterday he said thanks for the warm woolies and opened
his yellow rain coat to show me he was wearing one of them
I noticed when I handed him a dollar yesterday his hands were FREEZING
so this morning I took down the dinner Blaine did not eat last night
along with two more sweaters and a pair of those "magic" stretch gloves

He always calls me beautiful once he sees its me as he can barely see you
unless your right on top of him ,and when he saw the gloves he could not
wait to put them on as the wind was really whipping around the Post Office building

After I went to get Gil's scratch offs I stopped off at Burger King and bought
Vincent {that is his name} a large coffee with two sausage egg and cheese
croissants as they were two for $ .again when I pulled up along side
him he was SO happy said ahh a nice hot cup of coffee thank you beautiful
when I saw him open the other bag with the food it made me feel good with
the look on his face Surprised
I believe someone drops him off or picks him up to go home or he walks all
the way with his white cane from where I buy my gas as I asked him where he lived
I know the medicine he needs for his eyes is expensive and I think that
is another reason he stands collecting what he can, anyway THAT is my good
deed he REALLY needs a warm coat though Mad

OK back later stay warm

Good afternoon ladies, your right about don't be fooled with the sunshine, the wind is bitterly cold, just been into Nuneaton and the wind whips through the toenails centre
I've got. My Pudsey ears for next week's leading players as we are selling cakes and as a couple of them don't know when they are full I can see it being a busy time,
Yes Vicky when they did start putting concrete posts in and fence panels that slid down a Gruve, I used to work a bit of overtime and when the other workers had gone you would see the panels slide up and the occupants would be out like greyhounds from the traps after the sand and slabs
Afternoon tea

That is me when I see these people with their
dogs off leash ,my sister Dawn who raised and trained
English border collies with the whistle know what I mean took
the leash out with her but not on them once they got away from the house
into the country side she would let them go but to watch her with
one whistle get them back to her side was amazing
I am sure when she passed away so young and unexpectedly they
could not fathom where she was ,Paul my BIL hired a walker for them
as he was at work and did not have the time ,even though Dawn worked
but would go home on her lunch break to walk them , in the end he let them
go to a lady who knew Dawn and wanted to raise them Sad
She also made ALL of their food no can dog food for HER babies Shocked

Sent you some pictures Vicky in your email
Gil still in bed had me up at 330am needed the loo ,BOY did those
sausages fried tomato's mushrooms etc do a number Mad
and he was saying he wants to go for a ride today ....I THINK NOT
we could have power outages later when the wind picks up even though the sun
is up now there is also the WHITE stuff knocking at our doors over night coming
in from the North West ,you should see my car flag its standing
to ATTENTION
Diffidently a SOUP day today

So no PM for you Vicky from your EX boss confused2
I LOVE IT

Waiting for the guy to turn up to bring the TV Recorder & fix it.

Well you didn't expect the builder to put wooden fencing up Bond so wire, concrete posts & the two strands of wire, was used until the houses were sold and the people moved in and sorted out their own fences.

sunny  out but don't be fooled.

The avatar of Steve was when we were in my in-laws back garden btw.

No you should never tie a dog up Sad   ......though a dog does need lots of exercise, some dogs more than others.....take it for long walks once a day at least, (though not miles & miles) shorter walks maybe at night.   We'd love to let Benjie off the lead but he loves exploring...."Oh and where does this path lead to?"   and we're always worried he might not come back to us when called....on the beach when we go to visit Susan Nessie is off the lead but never walks/runs  very fr in front of Susan or Matt....we'd love to let Benjie off, when he was a puppy we'd let him off when we took him to Pauls Land but he jumped into this ditched one day and David had to climb in to get him out, that was that from then on it was the long lead.....though our Vet said "Awwww won't they let you off the lead, don't they want you to get dirty"  I tried to explain but he said "He'll come back, he won't have liked being stuck in a ditch and he'd not do it again"  we're not too sure.....AND some paths lead to roads and though he's good and will sit at a road and wait until he gets the "Ok across the road"  I worry maybe he won't if we're not there.....so he has his exercise at lunch time, and a walk just around the block in the morning and at night.    He'll only run to the bottom of the garden and back into the house UNLESS we're out there too AND he'll not go to the loo in the garden.

Ok back later...... about the carpet Carole
