Ok I'm back.        Went to Wootten Wawen to have a look at the shopping village.....went to look round the antique shop really.....but it's not a bad place,  if it was nearer we'd have it on our "Places to go" list.....restaurant was good    and we saw some wooden coffee tables we liked.....and almost bought, but didn't.     I still like the Victorian Nursing chair we saw at "Whitemores"  but again  confused2  where to put it?    Didn't see what I'd gone for anyway "Edwardian pendant"    sigh!!!   I'll get it one day.       Did buy a print of Chiddingstone Kent though.

Yes Bond I did say " it only cost £5 anyway  confused2 last time it cost £14"   Shocked .

I brought 2, don't squabble over them,  home made farm house LARGE eccles cakes....we'll cut them and make sure there's  enough for the five of us.

You'll have to tell the story of how you came to life Choccy Penguin.   (he was a chocolate Penguin on a shelf Sad )  Smile

Oh finished my book.....it was ok. I can hand it back to Susan now,   I've started reading "One Wicked Sin"  by Nicola Cornick.....have you read any of hers Carole?

Avatar is the champagne which we brought home in the end..

From a FB friend

Bablake weather station,
Coventry weather.
October our first genuine autumn month, even though it may include
a brief "Indian Summer"; these short lived warm spells are so termed
as they originated with the North American Indians, who relied upon a
late fine spell to prepare for winter. However, depressions from the west,
having crossed still warm seas, are more vigorous now, and heavy rain is
more often the result.
Having said that, the weather through to mid-month is looking rather benign,
but pleasant enough, with just modest amounts of rain, and respectable
temperatures for a while yet; so bright and mainly dry just about sums it up!
So Tuesday fits the pattern perfectly with variable amounts of cloud and sunny breaks; with the breeze easing it will feel pleasantly warm in the sun at 15C, but cool perhaps under cloud.
As the cloud melts away tonight, it could turn chilly with minima around 5C over open ground, so getting close to a ground frost in sheltered spots from the breeze.
Wednesday may be rather more cloudy than today, but bright and dry by day with a breeze picking up again, so cooler at 14C
Outlook – windy and wet overnight into Thursday, then cool and breezy but dry into the weekend - showers Saturday & Sunday perhaps.

Good morning from another {going to be a nice day}
Bridgeport Connecticut USA ,somehow when you see all
this unusual weather and its October now a little bell
goes off in the back of ones minds saying " we are going
to PAY for this down the line" I mean close to 80f
NOT NORMAL at all for us up here on the East Coast confused2

Marge your doing SO well with your bucket list I am very proud of you..
Bond sign Marge up to over see Big Ben's fixing up

Look at that Choccy in as well ,,here you go lad fresh out the freezer
fish fish
I think its the same world wide regards road workers though ,it seems
like they are ALWAYS doing road repair SOMEWHERE over night ,and you DO
see some idiots trying to get where they are going weaving or going
FASTER than conditions allow and should anything happen to them their
family will be all crying crying

My bit of news is my new hoover arrived yesterday ,but its being returned
after I saw how the packaging was on it ,looked like it had been DRAGGED
behind the FedEx delivery truck ,I took pictures of it and emailed Walmart
telling them I was waiting until my son arrived home to see if it was damaged
after opening it ...well not sure about being damaged but it looks like it
must have been something SOMEONE ELSE RETURNED as it had none of
that foam packing they normally have them encased it ,and all the "tools"
were laying loose on top and the end of the cord was STUFFED into the hose
So emailed them back as they were very apologetic after I sent them the pictures
and they are emailing a return label that Fedex will pick up and re-sending another
They must think some people are STUPID to accept something like THAT
Its a Bissell

Ok so that is it for now

Marge SO happy Melanie is feeling good
Back later MORNING VICKY

Hi all,

What is it about motorways coming back from Walsall last night there were big queues as only one lane was open, with "workmen in the road" flashed up, no workmen spotted anyway and traffic using three lanes. There was one idiot weaving in and out of traffic that entertained us as we crawled along :driver:

Just finished with the young salesman they sent and decided that they
were offering the replacements at about what I thought it was going to cost.
They came in just under it. (due to an error on his part).
These will have a proper locking system built in so a bit safer than the old ones.

They won't be ready for about 6 weeks so enough time to get the work space cleared
inside and out of the way.
I can still go ahead and get an estimate for the blind and schedule the delivery date
and installation after the French windows are in.
I have enough in the company account to pay off in 3 installments which is what its for.
The last payment is not until I am satisfied with the job they did.
They are not local but it only takes one day to complete the job from start to finish.
This is an investment for when I eventually sell the house.
Its a straight swap out so no demolition work of house structure and no damage to
the stucco finish.
I have a hard enough nose that if they suddenly up the cost, I will cancel the contract
or not have the French windows done in the office. I can bundle that with new front
and back doors that someone else can put in for me later.

Talked to Melanie last evening. Her spirit is great and she knows her recovery will take
months not weeks. She still has a feeding tube so she only lost about 5 pounds in weight
through this whole thing. which is very important. Today is Jims birthday but they will be
celebrating at home as Melanie is only able to eat small amounts every few hours.
There are at least two follow up check ups in UC San Francisco and ones at her regular Drs.
office. That along with her PT and OT at home will keep her out of mischief for a while.
She was complaining that they removed her bellybutton during surgery and wanted to
know if they would make her one!! Only she would think of that after what she has been through!
Must away for some lunch and start on the next item on my list. TTFN

Hi, so did you pay £14 to see Victoria?
I went in last year to pick up the ladies, I was early, they had free papers so I thought I sit with a paper and coffee and wait in a leather chair, the lady said that's free so it must of been a silver screen day, Vicky you will have to take your birth certificate as you have to be over 55
Last drinks for the night

Oh "Churchill"  is the film of Winston Churchill during the war.

Yes our winter primroses went in yesterday, mixed colours they are in the shelter of the house and when the sun is out it is on them all the day
It's been a bit of a idle day after yesterday's busy day, just over to Tamworth to the Range then just down the road from the JT somthing or other a big members warehouse place where you have to be a member and add the Vat on at the cash desk, fantastic Christmas shopping for shops decorations, huge 20feet high Santas, and snow machines

Well, fingers crossed a new dishwasher and its working.
Funny how the gardeners and the installation team have
been trying to get some side work out of me but I do things
when I want not because they are in the house and its
convenient, the water valves inside the house are gunked up
with calcium deposits so need replacing , also the main turn off
for the house is getting very stiff as well.
I will be calling one of Ians friends who runs a plumbing service
to come and inspect everything and clean out the sewer pipes
while they are here. Also the shower stall needs re caulking as I think
there is a crack somewhere at the base of the shower stall.
Its all tile and its in fair shape for being as old as it is. It does need a new door
though. The original is not tempered glass or reinforced glass so could be a
hazard.
I had better call the Gastro Dr. and find out what my results are of the
ultrasound.
I am dreading that they will want to do an MRI. :-(

We went through stages with our kids that we were involved with.
AYSO Soccer league and Girl Scouts which took up all our free time.
I was also N/H GS chairman and involved with planning camp outs.
I was lucky I did not have to work outside the home as Peter earned
enough to keep us comfortable so I volunteered to be cookie and calendar
chairman as well.
Everything seemed to overlap so we were kept very busy. All our friends
with kids were going through the same thing so we rarely saw each other
more than once a year.

Vicky those plants would survive here in our winter months as well.

Spent a restless night catching up on the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
I am so mad at the government not making semi automatic weapons
illegal in this country. They are easily converted back to automatic at
home. They tried to ban the big banana clips that the military use but
it seems someone can always smuggle them across the border.
Again each state has its own laws about guns and gun owners.
California has some of the strictest laws in the country but mentally
ill people seem to get what they want just the same. Its all so
easy online.
Think I need a mug workscoffee TTFN

to ....Its like a roller coaster with the way this thing is hitting him

Weather is lovely though .....wonder if I can bottle it

Made the r/beef with oven potato's and along with the Bisto gravy
we will have carrots and broccoli tonight
In the mean time I brought back a chicken sarnie for Gil for lunch
NOW I am relaxing as I AM KNACKERED

CRAWLS along the floor ...Bong BOND L & L PLEASE Shocked

Wonder if Marge is washing all her dishes right now

Ahhh Judy Dench  looks like a great film
yes I know EVERYONE lead such BUSY lives
these days
I would like to see mine more often ,but glad
I am not like Migdalia's mother who EXPECTED her children
and g/kids to be at HER home every holiday ,I remember asking
Migdalia to ask her Mother to alternate with me for Xmas /ThanksGiving
etc but  talktohand  she would NEVER do it ,so Spencer and her would
have to come over MY house and eat a "little" of what I had cooked early
then go over  HER house and be expected to EAT A LOT after ,no wonder
my son had stomach problems  Rolling Eyes

This shooting is REALLY bad over 50 dead and 100 injured ,one 64 yr
old man was shooting from the 32nd floor of a hotel over looking where
the concert was going on ,he is DEAD

OK better get going before Gil starts calling my name

Going to be too cold soon over here for flowers Vicky  Sad

"Victoria and Abdul" Carole......I've bought her the book to read for Christmas.

No I see Susan more than I see Steve......but then at weekends the kids (Jack & Lily) are doing various things so we don't expect them to be here often, same with Matt & Laura, we see them on Friday because they come from school and Rob picks them up to have them Friday & Saturday (we have Laura Saturday morning when it's football training) and of course he picks Matt up Sunday from the Witches house for the game, though we've not been to watch them this season yet.  (3 games)  ......no kids, big & small, have busy lives, I've never been "I expect you to visit" sort of person.

Having the "vapours"   Smile

Right off to get some flowers for the gardens, pots & urns

Later........avatar is one of the posts of the bed......the work that's gone into that.

Hi Carole, no these are the clothes in the upstairs store we had to bring them all down to clear the area so we could put up the hanging rails to put them all back in some sort of order to be found easy, but you are right it is getting a little over crowded but people may see something they didn't come in for
Yes we work together well when I layed 1000 bricks at his place he mixed every bit of mortar on the spot to use, now today it was the other way round he did the drilling but I was there to pass the tools as needed, now John the other way he will say I'll clean your car or just take the kids out the way to give you a clear run but that's OK

Sounds like a sudden drop in blood pressure.

I have trouble with blood pressure spikes which
freaks out my doctor but I am not aware of them.
It means I am at greater risk for a stroke so that's
why the meds to lower it.
Sometimes it takes a while to find out what causes
these things through eliminating all the more obvious
ones.
One of my old friends was told to carry a packet of
sugar and a small one of salt with her at all times to swallow with
water to quickly boost her electrolites (?)as she went down
a few times also. That was many years ago.

Well, its all happening tomorrow, Dishwasher between 10 and 2,
Deposit box, and phone calls to gastro Drs. office, The windows
people and the roll away blind people.
Still waiting for Big Reds plates to come back and the embossed
floor mats to arrive. Once the plates come I can contact Chris
the hot rod guy(there is a big Concourse De' Elegance this weekend
so knew he would be busy preparing cars for it.)
Have to get my hair trimmed some time this week as it is getting in
my eyes again.

Poor Ian has a week end of pulling up all the old carpet from his stairs
and landing and fixing the squeaks before the carpet man comes to lay
fresh carpet. It was old when they moved in and now with the nice
finished hardwood floors it looks down right tacky!
What he does need is a hand rail down the right side of the stairs .
There is an open banister on the left but it does not go all the way
to the top step. He says they don't need one as they are fit as fiddles
but I know its a hazard for Barry when he comes over.
He did however install a banister outside on the steps as their house sits on the
middle landing of a three tier plot so 12-14 steps from the gate down to the house
from the pathway and the garage.
Think I will go and have some breakfast and start work on some washingbasket

Glad Ian got home ok Margaret.

What a pain about your dishwasher,  what is it with factories these days too many times you get something and it's damaged. headbanger

That's me Margaret.....I passed out (the second time I might add) at Rachael's wedding, was sitting at the table having lovely pudding and I suddenly couldn't hear what anyone was saying. they seemed far far away, then I became hot then cold and just not right at all, "I'll go to the loo it'll be cooler in there" I thought, stood up and I had to sit down again....I asked Susan to come to the loo with me, arm in arm we trotted off to the loo. Susan asked me if I was feeling ok, I shook my head, she advised me to go and sit on the loo seat and put my head down, didn't help, washed my hands and just turned to dry them and the next thing I was wondering why this chair seat was so hard and then I heard Susan saying "Mum MUM"  and tapping my face, I was on the floor, Susan had seen me go and caught me.....luckily only one more person was in the loo's I heard her say "Shall I call for an ambulance?"  "NO" I said thinking that's all Rachael & Lee need at their wedding an ambulance roaring up....Susan told the lady to get David....so David AND Matt turned up and they helped me outside....of course I was thinking "Susan can't miss the speeches"  she was maid of honour and I knew Rachael would thank her for all her help getting the wedding together......so we went back to the table....I had to apologise to everyone on the table, after a while I felt fine.....3rd time I passed out twice, came round and then passed out again that was when David called for an ambulance, tests carried out and I was fine  confused2   I passed out while I was in hospital this time and I have since I've been home.

Steve & the family are coming today, was supposed to be yesterday but he then text and asked if they could come today......so they're coming here around 2:00.

Did Bond say NEXT WEEK....... run run run run

then it sat on the road way ,until they loaded it back up
and they left a few days later they returned unloaded another box
opened it up she came out looked it ALL OVER before
they took it inside ,seems the first one was damaged

Glad Ian got back safe .....

No Vicky I asked the Dr about the gummys he said it was ok
as it was only giving him extra fiber and you only chew two a day
a little bigger than the "dots" I send you ...

Got Gil up but oh MY ,I said I could not believe how he has gone like

He scratched two lotto cards ate a small tuna sarnie and is now easychair
When the Dr's office calls me with the results of his blood test I am going to

What a day yesterday was!

I left for the dentist thinking I had enough time as I knew Ian was coming
by at 12 noon and I would be back by then.
I arrived home just as the plumbers were leaving and got the story from Ian.
Seems they had me down for 12 noon! Ian arrived just as they were leaving.
(they had left a note on the door because they came early!)
So he told them to go ahead and swap out the dishwasher, as they opened
all the packing they found a small dent which they knew meant it had to go back.
They had no way of knowing that it was dented as it was still factory packed.
They left it plumbed in anyway as it did work.
Then the phone calls went back and forth, plumbers reported the damage to Sears
who promised an new one ASAP then it was how soon could they get the machine
here and the plumbing crew together, it will be Tuesday now.

Got more parts for Big Red in the mail which all had to be opened and checked
as the return policy only lasted four days!
Its all going into Big Red until the plates come back when I can contact Chris Braun
at the Specialty shop he runs and get it all done.
Ian left as soon as things were settled and made his plane OK.

He messaged me when he was in the taxi going home that everything went well.
He has left me Five post-it notes on the mirror to remind me that I need to take the new
pink slips of ownership in to the safety deposit box ASAP and do a couple of other
things like the rollaway blind company and the replacement window company to make
appointments for estimates. He also upped my credit limit with the bank and talked to
the agent now in charge of my annuity, it seems I can take out a certain amount each year
without paying a big fee(which I did not know). Not that I am going to but its always nice to know
where I stand.
I won't know how much the window replacements will cost but it has to be done.
There are problems with the locks and they were fitted wrong in the first place with the moving
windows on the outside instead of on the inside so they could be lifted out if we had not put
small bolts to stop it in the runners. These were put in in 1973 when we put on the addition
and when a storm came out of the south the rain leaked into the runners on the inside.
Think they served their purpose after 44 years!
If I order the blind I can delay installation until after the windows are done so I get the
discount as a past customer.
So, a lot done this time with very little discord and I can carry on with de cluttering the
inside. Next item is to call Melanie and Jim to see how many days I need over Xmas with
them and can book a chain hotel room near them. Luckily all the action in the winter takes
place up the mountain at the ski resorts so easier to get a room in the flat lands.(I hope)

I have a friend who is suffering the same complaint as June, she went down in her bathroom
and got a nasty egg on her forehead along with a mild concussion!
She is only just being allowed to drive again. Its being investigated but as of a few days ago
have no idea what is causing her to pass out. confused2
Late start this morning, just needed a little more rest before starting my day here. TTFN

Maybe you should cut out the stuff Spencer told you about do you think and just give him what you've been advised to give, maybe the extra stuff is too much?   confused2

Ian's visit seems to have gone so quickly.

Opps just realised I've not pushed Tony's birthday card through his door.......I'll do that later.....after Come Dancing.
