Morning Marge ,sorry to hear that about
Jim ,the word "stubborn" comes to mind
lets HOPE he takes his sponsors
advice and takes a time out before he makes
it REALLY bad for Mel and him

I have stuff to go through Marge boxes and bags
still in the garage from when we moved back here
obviously I am now thinking that what EVER I
put away I have not needed so it may be "let go"
when I DO get to it
My Aid said she would help me any time I am ready

Yes there you go I know its to do with the Three Kings
day ....about taking the decorations down ...

Marge what you have done this year has been an accomplishment
so keep doing it "one step at a time" have you given any more
thought to passing the baton to someone else at your meetings ?

Spencer just went over to Carmen's as she gets off at 1pm
she sent me over two miniature rose plants one is Lavender
the other Red and White on one bloom ,of course I cannot put them outside
until Spring so have had to find a place high enough out of Tabitha's
reach {Buddy does not seem interested like SHE IS} she was standing on
her TIPPY TOES with her front paws just reaching the top of my kitchen
table trying to see what I had when Spencer first gave them me
Carmen also sent a nice top home for Gil ,which was good as he likes
it

When the Dr's PA came last time she suggested trying Salonpas deep
relieving Gel or spray on Gil's neck that he CONSTANTLY complains
about ,so $10 later I bought some this morning ,he said it was
helping a "little" so I will take that as a good thing

Anyway have a wonderful New Years Eve every one ,I shall be under
my Duvet tired tired

Its about 12th night Carole,
It was the day the 3 wise men (or Kings) departed from
Bethlehem to go another way home.
It was my mothers birthday on the 5th so all the decorations
in her parents home were kept up until then.
I kept up the tradition as did my sister.

There are so many boxes to be gone through here that I have
not felt like adding to the mess by bringing out a whole lot of other
stuff to add to it and then have to put it all away again.
Maybe next Xmas I will if I get enough done by then.

Got a call from Melanie yesterday evening while Jim was at an
NA meeting.
His sponsor has suggested that Jim move in with him for a week or so
to give everyone a time out.
You cannot make wise decisions while angry and upset.

Melanie says Jim is trying to cure himself through will power alone
and won't take meds that he has been given or follow up with his Dr.
and councilor. No one can make him understand that you cannot cure
a chemical imbalance in the brain by willpower!!!
Melanie went to one of her meetings on Wednesday night after losing
Jeff and talked to a friend whose dog used to play with Jeff all the time
in their younger days ,5 was a Jack Russell terrier while Jeff was a Rat
terrier so very close temperaments. They would play until they wore
themselves out!
(the 5 was #5 in the line of dogs they had taken in). They had the same
agreement that Lorna and I have for looking after each others animals
while the other was gone. I remember going up there one time with
Jeff's head stuck out one window and 5s out the other side while we rode
in the back of the car watching their ears standing up in the wind!
This was on country roads so no traffic about.

I think Melanie is more upset that Jim could not hold it altogether
while I was there so I guess she had tried to get him to hide his condition
but she knew I would see it for myself when I got there so there was
no way to hide it then.

Its darn foggy here again this morning, visibility is measured in feet
this morning!
I am not one for watching American Football on TV here and there are
4 games today so its a good excuse for turning it off and listening to
music while I work. TTFN

Shocked affraid DECORATIONS DOWN
BEFORE New YEARS EVEN ,I have enough bad luck
with out tempting it to come visit 21 Lakeview Ave

Just reading on FB Marks daughter Keri took hers down
and the back lash from her friends about it ,we were
ALWAYS brought up that they stayed till JANUARY 6th
that is 10 days AFTER Christmas ,never knew WHY until
I came over here and found out that is Three Kings day
that the Spanish people celebrate and also I believe its
Russian Christmas as well so makes sense
But also was told its bad luck to take them down BEFORE
and so I DO NOT confused2 and before you say it talktohand
I KNOW its ALL SUPERSTITION

Your not the first Bond to suggest a helmet for Gil,but you got
THAT right ,he would NOT like or WEAR it Rolling Eyes
as Spencer said when he first started falling that he needed one

Glad the knee is improving ,now if I could only figure out whats
going on in my right hip /thigh we would be in business
Guess that is ANOTHER Dr's appointment I shall have to make
in 2018

OK have 1/2 the $20 roast beef I bought yesterday cooking
in the oven
Just popped to the shopper for the tea bags and a couple
of other items I forgot in my haste yesterday
Main roads not bad some of the side roads not so good which
is typical....
BUT BITTER cold even with the sunny shining now

Better get Mr Bourne up I guess as after making SURE he did
not need the loo I left him in bed

Back later ...and as Gil always says to ANYONE leaving the :house:

"WATCH HOW YOU GO" run run run run

Carole, I've been going to say this from the last time Gil had his fall, I bet he wouldn't like it but what about a wooly hat rolled up thick around the end around the forehead or like the old cycling head gear before the new plastic and foam ones or the rugby scum cap
this would give his head protection in a fall as that seems to come off the worst
Coffee please

Good morning Carole, I was thinking a bit about death in our friends
at the end of the year as always
the BBC go through the death of people in the spot light over the last year,
I don't know how long it normally goes on for but this time it was 30 minutes with all the ones you remember from the time but others you didn't know about
, from Glen Cambel to the John Hurst sorry if the spelling thing takes over
I'll get some drinks

Morning Bond ....
16f /-8c here ,but only feels like 2f /-16
only going to get worse they are saying
not better when the sun rises . one day next week the
LOW over night proper temp will be 2f
Seeing lots of water breaks and steam pipes bursting
because of it ,need to let the bathroom tap trip next
week if that is the case as that is where it will freeze
the pipes as our bathroom sits OVER a ledge facing the front
of the house that is not well insulated ,its probably a bit better
NOW after we had the plumber last year take the panel down
under the bath from the outside and he was shocked to see
it was an open space with nothing protecting the pipes ,so he
stuffed insulation as best he could into the gap ,and so far we
have been fine .... headbanger bang on wood

Yes makes you wonder about "life" doesn't it Bond when you
hear of people you know passing

I have gotten a text via FB from the much younger wife of
a man who was an electrician at our company Sandy Bozsar
Seems he is not doing good as she said he has what Gil has {had}
bladder cancer ,has tubes from both kidneys because he cannot
urinate and now has Shingles ,we all used to wonder what it was
he had to attract a lot younger girl ,but even now she tends
to ramble on not making sense so she is either on drugs or
not right in the head confused2
But says some of what I am going through, how he hates and yells
at her ,probably because she can still go out and he cannot etc
I have tried to tell her we are going through some of the same
but what can we do but be there for our husbands confused2

Anyway it does not feel any different being 75
I just saw Chelsea posted the picture she took of her and me
when she came to see Gil on FB for my birthday ..appreciated
all the good wishes from my FB friends as well as my good mates
on here

Well waiting on Spencer to come home he has to use this
to file his unemployment this morning
Not sure if Carmen is dropping him off on her way to work
or whether he has taken her to work and will bring her car
back here as she picked him up yesterday

SO GOOD MORNING you all
confused1

I'm not letting Bev know.....Tony couldn't stand Bev, hadn't a good word to say about her.....various things.....I did try to smooth things over but he wouldn't have it....Julia wouldn't be best pleased if Bev went to the funeral, so she'll not know about it off me.

That's where Susan is right on the coast.

True Carole & Julia says he didn't suffer, went peacefully in his sleep.

I'd mentioned that your birthday was at the end of the month Carole though Susan says your birthday would come up on FB and your friends could, if they wished, wish you a Happy Birthday, as Rob did.

Susan, Matt & Nessie are off to Cornwall tomorrow to see the New Year in.....the hotel seems nice, they've got a lovely balcony looking over the sea, & of course being able to take Nessie is a bonus.

Ok back later on.

Sorry Carole on your birthday but Tony died this morning......can't believe it, when he spoke to me he was his usual "Tony here....." in his deep voice, and that was after I'd slipped on the ice and couldn't walk.....so that was less then 2 weeks ago. Mad

Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday dear Carole, happy
birthday to you.

Carole, you are as old as you feel and some days I feel like
I am 101 and other days I feel like I am 50 again! tongue

Got up this morning and it was so dark thought I had
woken up in the middle of the night but it was thick fog
with zero visability!
Its burning off now.
Bond, I am not a working lass anymore and its only a few things
not a whole load so am holding it until I have a full load.
We are still being " water wise " in this state as we may not have
much rain again this winter. There is enough to see us through
next summer if we ration what we use.
I have a cycle on the new dishwasher that senses how much water
is needed to wash what is in there

Its 53f outside at the moment with over 60% humidity but the sunny
is trying to break through. It is predicted to be a low of 48f tonight.

Cats are a bit clingy at the moment. I guess they are worried that
I will leave again. Hope they don't get spooked when I go to the grocery store
to stock up the fridgefood
I have to put gas in BB as she is almost on empty from the trip but enough
to get me to the gas station.
One tank of gas got me nearly 500 miles!

Malc, I bet it feels good to be at home like everyone else instead of :driver:

I have had two days rest so its back to the grindstone again.
I think the biggest adjustment has been the change in altitude.
Its at sea level here and Melanie lives at 2,500 feet, it does not sound like
much but it takes a day to just get used to the change.
At one point she lived in Long Barn at 7,000 feet, I got altitude
sickness for two days!
They have not had enough snow to open the local ski resort but
Mammoth Mountain on the east side of the Sierras is up and
running, they have snow making equipment ,Dodge Ridge does not.
Days were cool enough for winter coats but bright sunshine most
days so sunglasses were in order.
I have not heard anything more from Melanie but don't want to
badger her this soon after losing Jeff. I will wait until Sunday to send
her a message testing the waters so to speak, unless she calls me first.
I know Ian intends to give her a call.
Its off to the races here so TTFN

Should I mention ITS SNOWING here
so along with the FREEZING temps we have
to contend with SLIPPERY road conditions

Oh I only had Gil's things Vicky and some white socks
of Blaine's as I did not have enough for a full load so
had to wait until I did the towels today
Spencer came home and Carmen is coming by on her
way home to pick him up so his car does not get SNOWED ON funnytvprog
He bought me a beautiful card the words were VERY meaningful
we were just talking about that the other day ,as he said its
hard to find a card that suits Gil even being he is his Dad
as I raised them and was both Mum and Dad to them
all those years in fact Spencer always bought me a Father's
day card when growing up
But I know he feels awful not being able to give me a gift this year
even though I said it was fine

Anyway I only went up the street a five minute drive and got a gal
of moo some bread ,a tin of corned beef {Gil likes a sarnie of that}
and found a HUGE piece of top round beef for only $20 that I
had Spencer cut into half so have two dinners plus some pork chops

The snow is very fine but covering everything quickly

Yes Vicky I was beginning to wonder where I would come
up with another $300 for another 100 gal of oil at the rate we will
go through it with it being so cold right now as Spencer cannot chip in
with it like he normally does and even though Blaine throws in $20
a week out his wages it will not cover that as he does not earn that
much ,but just grateful he is working

I wonder why you cannot see your Avatar ,your on your
in the study right ? its normally when I am on my Kindle or tablet
that I cannot see the Avatar I have changed when on MY

So you must have told Rob it was my birthday then funnytvprog

I have had a lot posting on FB

Wendy sent me a lace table cloth ,trouble is its TWO TIMES longer
than my table ,also there was one of her "famous hand knitted"
scarfs ,Gil got one {brown} mine is light purple ,only trouble being
they are wide enough but too short
She said the boss in the Red Cross where she volunteers gave the
others she made away to the homeless
You have to say she tries and REALLY has a ♥️ of gold funnytvprog
but its a standing joke at Xmas and birthdays as to WHAT
Auntie Wendy has sent ,David said he got a can opener with "LOVE"
on it .....
OK I am making a beef soup as its THAT kind of day ,and from looking
at the TV they are saying WILL BE ALL next week
Whats that saying "out of the frying pan into the fire" and "from
one extreme to the other"

Back later confused1

Good news about the fuel allowance Carole......keep you warm at least.

Good isn't it that the books will carry on Margaret.

Hi Malc......that's good a good choice of vegetarian meals, that's what we look for when we're all going out for a meal, so many of my lot are vegetarian.

We've recorded "Gone Girl" Bond..... talktohand  nothing to do with with me David's recorded it....I read the book, well to be honest got half way through and dumped it, same with Susan.....no she dumped the book I didn't dump her. Smile   though Rachael read it and loved it.   It's true though what Mrs B said the book is always better.

NO don't you dare washingmachine  on your birthday  nono    I'll smack you.  oh well just Gil's lot and NO MORE.

That's nice of Rob, shows he does take things in sometimes.

Back later......the avatar is one you all saw last year when the Sitton Bros came over....though I'm not seeing that. SIGH!!! only on David's iPad.

Morning everyone... confused1

Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas.
Not sure just what the new year will bring to us, but let's hope
we will all be strong enough in mind and body to tackle with what lies ahead.

I had Christmas day and Boxing day off and now have New Years Eve
off but working next day so have arranged to go for a carvery with Jaffar's
younger sister and her daughter with there chaps in toe, the Toby place is
quite near us and offer's a good choice of vegetarian food for the girls.

Jaffar's sister and fella Mark are taking the Ford Focus off our hands but,
have to sell their old one first, so we now have 3 cars on the front drive...lol.

OK, have to get ready for the day ahead... :driver:

Have a good day everyone...
... ... ...at the ready.

He was not doing well while I was there so knew it was
only a matter of time.
At least he got through Xmas and Boxing day.

Just had a long phone call with Ian and told him
what I thought was going on with Jim .
Not a lot we can do at this point but be supportive of
what ever Melanie decides is the right thing for her
to do in this situation.

I took yesterday to just do nothing except get
the cases out of the car. I will unpack them today and
wash the things I wore and put the clean stuff away
again.
I did go to my meeting which I needed under the
circumstances. I can see why Jim might have relapsed
but its something that addicts and alcoholics have to deal with
without any outside substances. He seems to be not strong
enough to do that yet.
Its a shame as I had hopes that he might get it right this time.

Rebecca is still feeling under the weather with the Flu so made
an early exit from her parents home to go and sleep in her own
bed. She still has a nasty cough and feels weak.
They are going to have a quiet New Year like myself.

Glad you got the fuel allowance Carole, one less thing to have
to worry about for a while.

Ian says they have been having heavy rain which I guess will
mean black ice conditions overnight.
Its quite warm here ,in the low 70s.Its rather hazy outside as it was
while I was driving back. It could be from another fire which started
a couple of days ago, this along with the smoke from the Ventura fire
has given us some really dirty air.
Just saw that Sue Grafton has died, hope she finished the last of her
ABC book series. I know one just came out.
I have read all her books, most of them twice!

Robert Hillerman, (who wrote all his books based on stories
of two Indian Navajo police officers ) passed away and his daughter
is writing the books now. Its like Felix Francis carrying on his Dads
characters. They had been acting as editors to their parents so
have taken up the mantle as it were with ease.
Its lunch time here so must get something to eat. TTFN

Well we are back ,so do you want the "good "
news ,or the "bad"
talktohand Ok so I will start with the bad ,after
Barbara arrived she got Gil in the shower and because
he is a little sore in between his legs I said she had better
dress him in the bedroom so he could lay back on the bed
for her ,well that was OK but then I heard her yell HELP and
heard Gilly cry out ,as it seems as she was trying to get his
undershorts on ,while sitting on the edge of the bed he slipped
sideways on her and hit his HEAD on the floor ,as I have told
everyone he does not try to stop himself from falling ,just falls
like a lead weight ,so now he has ANOTHER red rug burn mark on his
forehead and a small bump Shocked She was upset as she said she had no
problem with him in the shower ,but I just reminded her again that
you have to watch him ALL the time even when your least expecting
it
Anyway had to leave him with her and a cold ice pack while we went
to try and get heating assistance .....which comes to my good news
I was SHOCKED to hear we QUALIFIED for $330 plus another $295
so that will help a LOT ,I will call the office Tuesday and have them deliver
the first amount that hopefully will give us almost a full tank {ours is
a 275 gal tank} as the 100 gal I had delivered yesterday only brought
it up to barely over 1/2 a tank full and the way the temps are this
week that will soon SUCK up the oil like a Donkey eating Strawberries
I raised the thermostat to 74f and we are just now only registering
69f up here Mad

Now Bond that is what I do rather than give $$$$ to these people
you see ,I give them food ,like Vincent ,if I have no left overs
for him and I see him I will buy him a sandwich and a large coffee
which he is ALWAYS most appreciative of ,a sure sign they are HOMELESS
not just looking for booze or drug $$$

Anyway Gil seems OK as Barbara just left ....
Sounds like your all set Bond ,are you partying New Years Eve

Whoops so I have seen my gifts Vicky ,that is OK then and I told you before
I LOVE my Elf

Anyway I will pop in later

Talking of age we just came back on the bus with a lovely lady we worked out she was eighty three, she had just come back from a week in Painton and walked along the front every morning stopping for a brandy and coffee and walking back along the harbour
She goes to the Oden silver screen every Tuesday or Thursday, she was a great lady
Just coffee for me please

Glad you had a good time Bond.....awww and Mrs B bought the young girl doughnuts and a coffee....much better than money which they just go off and buy drugs with.

Good Good Afternoon all, well that was nice we got a lot done, changed the Belgrade tickets to a afternoon one so we can go on the bus and make a day of it, go to the next year's Christmas cards from a Charity shop, talking of charity mrsb bought a young rough sleeping girl a coffee and a bag of doughnuts, I known you see lots of beggars sitting on a blanket with a cap or cup Infront of them but this girl had all she owned around her in carrier bags and sleeping bags
So then we went to M&S for or new year eve meal, a starter,. Main. Side. Pudding and a bottle of fizz all for £20,a meal at wetherspons and the bus home so it's a bit of a rest now

I watched "Mrs Henderson Presents"   last night before bed, did you get to see that Bond?

Yes it's lovely getting back into your own bed......as Bond knows.  "Carefully does it before Mrs B wakes up.... for breakfast"   funnytvprog

Oh I've started  "The Curse of Arundel Hall" by J.New.....set in the 30's she's an amateur sleuth. so far up my street.

You should have told Linda that Prince Philip left Greece when he was around a year old.....and he's got more German blood in him than Greek.   Oh and his Mum was born at Windsor Castle.

Lovely to have you back Margaret.....even though I'm pleased you went to see your daughter but sorry to hear about Jim.  Mad

Ok speak tomorrow.......nighty night, got to decide which book to start on. Got 3 more for Christmas......to add to my pile. funnytvprog

Hello my Darlin's
All safe at home by 4pm yesterday but after
messaging a few people my ipad needed recharging!
It took 24 hours to get a decent charge to take a few
photos at the Columbia national heritage site.

All is not well with at my daughters home and its
not her, she is getting better which is more than
be said about Jim. He is going down the drain again
really fast.
We think he is on street bought pain pills again.
We know it is an bad addiction to overcome but
he has already had two goes at rehab for it but
cannot seems to get the fact that he is badly
depressed and needs medication and that it would
lessen the pain he feels from his Spondolitis (?)
He was so quiet and withdrawn while I was there
and that's not like the person I am used to seeing.
He just wanted to sleep.
Melanie has a list of rules for him for his recovery and one
of them is to have a drug test if we are suspicious that he is
using again and Melanie asked him after I left Tuesday night
and he refused so that tells us all we need to know.
I am not an expert on addictions but could tell he was under
the influence on something.

I know about depression and could see that he was also showing
signs of that as well. He might be bi-polar which can be treated
but with the usual result that he feels better while taking it and
stops because he says he doesn't need it any more.
I don't know what is going to happen now but Melanie is ready
to call it a day if he does not do anything about this.
She has tried so hard to stay clean and sober even in the face
of all that she has been through and is not willing to go through
this again having it last only a few months.

Her dog Jeffery is not well as he is 14 now and had some kind of
spell the last day I was there, so spent the night wrapped up in
Melanie's arms in a blanket by the heater. She says he was doing
better while I was driving home. No Vet this time around.
We both know he does not have a lot of time left. All you can do
is make the time he has left as comfortable as possible for him.

Melanie and I enjoyed the brief time walking around Columbia and buying
a few hand made candies. I also picked up some house numbers from
the Black smiths shop made out of horse shoes!
The numbers over the garage door are so dark that you cannot see
them but these against a white plaque will be visable from the street.
We also have them painted on the curbs but when there are cars parked
you cannot see them either! The only ones readable are by the front door.
The Xmas day dinner at Murphy's went well. We all had the steak dinner
but we had different cuts. It was served with soup or salad and mixed
veggies, then there was a choice of desert, I think both Melanie and Jim
had the bread and butter pudding while I had key lime crème brulea (?)
A bit of a mixed bag you might say but I think Melanie and I had a good
time together at least.
At least now I am prepared to tell the driving examiner at the DMV in
January that I am fit to drive our states freeways! tongue tongue
TTFN

Hi Carole, glad you had a good time and the food sounds good morning like the sound of the grilled cheese and tomato, reminds me of the school dinner of cheese pie/tart with grilled tomatoes on top
Ice is starting to show on the window screens already
We are thinking of going to Coventry on the bus tomorrow you never know I may bump into Graham
I have a think - Tony is at home Carole and if he is it's not far from Vickys
must be drinks time

BOY was I spoiled ,Linda bought me
a doz red roses ,a BIG Happy Birthday balloon
a Amaryilis plant, a white confetti cake ,and some sugared
walnuts  PLUS she refused to let me pay for
breakfast .....
She normally eats what I do but when the waitress asked what
we wanted and Lin said I normally have what she has ,I said you
may not today as I wanted a grilled cheese and tomato but WITH
BACON inside ,and a side order of homefries ,she looked and said
OH MY THAT  SOUNDS GOOD and ate it all up lol

We had a good chinwag and a laugh ,I made her laugh as well
and got called a nut funnytvprog
So looks like it could be a regular meet up now I have Barbara
as Lin is off every Friday from her daughter and SIL's company
where she helps out ....I told her I NEEDED her today
Spent 2 12/ hrs then headed home

She said her husband George who is pure Greek keeps reminding
her that Prince Philip is a Greek boy {was talking about how OLD he
was and still going } Linda thinks he was trying to say Greeks are
long lived funnytvprog  and said she has to put up with George
another 20 yrs then as he is as old as ME funnytvprog

Anyway stopped in at the fire house and called to make an appointment
so they can come install free smoke alarms in a week or so ..
but the fireman this morning advised me to get a cheap one to replace
the one down stairs until then

The Avatar is what I lifted off of Melanie's FB page from Dec 24th
talktohand  no need to thank me Marge

As to visiting Tony Vicky is he in a hospice ?

and Bond 44K HOLY SMOKE those are some LARGE KNOCKERS
I see you in Xmas Green Vicky
