First topic message reminder :

Yes that's her Carole though like you she doesn't spring to mind, just have Marilyn Monroe of pop in my mindI know she had twins Paul & Barry who took up singing but Paul I think it was gave it up and just wrote songs and his brother went solo.....but I couldn't tell you the songs of either the Mum or the twins. I do remember the boys slightly

Yes it was Lily sitting at a table opening one of her Christening presents......this one is Lily getting Christened, hope you can see her ok....and the lady Vicar, who was lovely.

Good afternoon all its going cold here Good job you warmed your hands Vicky thankd
As usual my hands are frozen this thin blood lark does seem to have knocked me about this year they go from a yellow white like the old bone handled knifes you used to get then a purple colour that mrsb says  was just like her mothers when she died nice
Well Ive spent some of the afternoon cleaning my two silver watchchains they have been in a drawer for the last 30 odd years so a bit tarnished but they have come up a treat
And the two watches are ticking away too
Lovely photo again Vicky

Well the snow's gone here.

It's looking as though Gil is getting his appetite back.

Oh that's good Bond......you'll be walking about with a dreamy look on your face for days.

That's bad of Chelsea Carole......I bet Gil was looking forward to seeing her as well.

Yes for people to stand outside and watch people come and go Carole.....big deal.

I'll have a sarnie of the pork please Carole.

My book is so so....I'll stick with it though.

Yes that was taken in Portishead where Susan & Matt have been looking at a new build house, though it's on the hill, wondering about the slope of the back garden.....so I don't think they'll be bothering, but they are looking around at other houses there or Portbury where Matt's parents live.

Yes I'm watching it as well.

Yes that's the one  & I went to see  "Darkest Hour".....it was good Margaret.

It's only £5 in the cinema here Margaret if you're an OAP .  they're trying their best to get people to the cinema, vouchers so much off also, I'm not sure how many go in the evenings but we go during the day and you find only about 8 in.

Yes when David's Mum died Janet & Marilyn were there going through her jewellery.....Jacket took her fur coat and it wouldn't have fitted her but she had to have it......same with my Gran even my Aunts sisters in law and the kids went there and took things that meant nothing to them.....caps belonging to my Gran's brother and her uncle and her relatives who had been in the 1st world war and they meant such a lot to her, it was "Oh the kids can play with these", though what hurt me was my Mum's necklace which my Gran had asked me on a couple of occasions if I wanted the necklace but she'd had it all those years and I used to tell her I'd have it one day.....well I never did get it and nobody would admit to taking it.    I do think she had a bank account also, she was very frugal ....well down right stingy and she had a good pension and up until I got married I used to hand all my wages over to her.....she used to give me my bus fare and money IF I was going to buy lunch on a couple of days, not every day, if I needed stockings or something she would also give me the money for those, as I say she was stingy with her money......so what she did with her money is anyones guess though I'm sure it went into the bank  confused2  so I expect Jim who was her eldest son got it, he never said though.

Right have to phone ......on orders.

good joke Carole.

box under their bed with TWO EGGS and $8000'when asked
what it was the wife said well every time I cheat on you I place
an egg in the box
Husband said well that is good you only cheated twice on me
but whats the $8000 from ,
Wife replies oh every time I make a dozen I sell the eggs

Watched "Darkest Hour" last night about
Winston Churchill and I hope it wins every
Oscar its up for, it was Darn good!

"Dunkirk" was a disappointment as it was
first class video wise but lost the plot along
the way. Young Director I understand.
I have also watched "Murder on the Orient
Express" and think my computer game was better!

I gave myself the gift of watching some of the nominated
films as it only cost me $5.99 per film which is
less than half price of the cinema over here. It was $18
for all three!

I don't go any more as the sound systems blast my ears
and the other people think they are at home watching it
on TV!  With chatting going on and iphone's  lighting  up
so they can text someone or other how the film is.
I also seem to end up with a tall person in front of me so
am forced to watch with my head crooked on one side!
At home, I can pause it if nature calls or I want a snack.
"Coco" is up to win the animated Oscar and that
is getting huge revues in the LA papers.
I only watch the arrivals to see what gowns the
ladies are wearing this year. The rest I can read or hear
later as it goes on for hours!
The TV stations in LA cover it on all the local stations so
you cannot get away from it!
Guess I am going to watch another movie!

Checked my Pontiac parts catalogue and there is a fuel
injection system built for older cars like mine that should
fill the bill nicely but it is only the unit not the parts
needed to install it. It could cost about $2-3,000 all told
but that is better than a rebuilt engine.
I would pass its emissions test easily and I could keep the
engine that's in there. BROOM-BROOM  :driver:
I have come this far so I intend to finish it.
After that its new sun visors and a set of mats and BR is
ready to go!
The pitty-patters    have all gone away.
Bright  sunny this morning again but its only 52f here
going up to a high of 59f. Tonight's overnight low will
be 43f ,BRRRRRRR.
BIG avalanche at Mammoth Mountain ski resort so its
closed until they can shoot grenades up the side of the
mountain and bring the rest down.
Mammoth is on the east side of the Sierras from where
Melanie lives, They recon that there is at least 12-15 ft.
of snow up at the higher levels. In some places it could be
even 30-35 ft. deep!
There was an avalanche near Squaw Valley which killed
a couple of people snowboarding off trail(this is near Lake
Tahoe ) north of where Melanie lives.
Good job neither she or Jim ski!

Its always about the money. I have heard stories of relatives
breaking into the deceased's  house while everyone
else is at the funeral and taking everything of value , not to
keep but to sell on E-bay or earlier at the market.
I don't care if I didn't have a penny, I could never do that.
Most of the people I know would not do that either.

I am always reminded of Mr. Scrooge in a Xmas Carole
with the cleaning ladies taking all the sheets and curtains
off the bed and also taking the night shirt he was to be buried
in before he saw the light and changed his ways.

One instance here, a whole crew showed up and stripped the
place bare and had a moving van to put it in .
fortunately the police were called and they were identified
and made to put it all back or they would be under arrest for
felony burglary meaning several years in the big house each!
Time for me to get working here. TTFN

Well Gil has eaten two so far scratched
off three cards and won $20 ,now he is
taking a nap easychair
Only 43f here and no sign of the "currant bun"
today so feeling cold
Just seen my other old Coventry mate who has houses
now in Florida and Up state New York after coming back
from living in Hawaii for two years {her husband came out of
retirement to build some indoor mall on the big Island }
She married well, she used to live near the "Donkey" Golden Horse
where Gil and his BIL Bill used to drink most nights near Peel street
Anyway Ness was posting beautiful pictures of Florida on a winters
day in the low 80's

Vicky did you get the email I sent you with pictures ?

Ok so I am going to relax for a while have some soup left over
that I made yesterday so probably warm that up for later

headball

Rolling Eyes Umm I love the apple selection
but also like that lemon dish ,

Well if your full both of you you will not want
the skinless chicken drumsticks I just made in
my new Air Fryer ,all I put on them was some
poultry seasoning ,and they came out great
and much healthier using no oil
Spencer said Carmen got one but its only big
enough for one person really where as in mine
I got 5 or 6 pieces hers only held 4 ....now I am
seeing what else I can do in there I am getting
more excited at the possibility's

Whose making the drinks then ?
Its flipping COLD here today only popped out for Gil's cards
and the chicken and my hands were FROZEN

Chelsea said she was popping over this weekend
no sign of her yet confused2

Your wearing my favorite colors Vicky I LOVE black
and how it looks

Back later   Gil's watching MC vs Chelsea

First off yes Marge wished Melanie a
on FB
You had her after I had Tracie in  Nov of 1960 and I had Blaine who
celebrates his 55th birthday Thursday March 8th in '63,it still boggles
my mind thinking I have KIDS THAT OLD Shocked

It sounds to me the best way to go would be to change
BR's engine as you might run into other problems with it
even if they DO FIX it ,not sure what engines go for these days
I know some years ago they would be around $3.000+with out
labor to fit it in ....
Did you get your locks trimmed BTW ?
Any word from Vinnie yet ?

No Vicky Gil actually spent most of his £ on made to measure
suits at Willerby's {if that is the right spelling} right next to the
Leofric Hotel and Owen & Owen ....and like Bond said if he was
not wearing a three piece suit he would be wearing slacks with
a sports jacket ,in fact on our first date he was wearing black slacks
white shirt black tie and an almost white with a small black fleck
sports jacket,{he had another one that was a light blue with a fleck}
VERY HANDSOME prrrrrrrrrr  blew MY skirt up tongue

Well been to the shopper  watched what I was spending
and STUCK to my list ,Gil is scratching his lotto cards while sort
of watching Liverpool vs Newcastle  after watching Spurs ....

Anyway I am going to sit a while have also done a load of colored
clothes while I went to the store
I shall be back later on ...clouding up again here but not supposed
to rain ,just cool and WINDY still

Well, it was no where near what we had expected rain wise
yesterday. as most of it broke up and came down as scattered
showers locally but boy, did mountains get a lot, up to 8ft.
in places.
I had a good talk with the Gasser brothers about Big Red.
I popped in during one of the rain showers when no one
was outside working which was great as I had one all
to myself for an hour.

It seems that when the engine was replaced 6 years ago,
Chris Braun put in a a high performance engine which
needs special parts that are not made anymore like
a special Carb.
He says he is going to try a few things and
that he has parts on the way but the best solution
would be a fuel injector instead of a carb. They are starting
to make them for these older cars as carbs are mechanical
in nature and so are very fiddly to work with.

That is one option, the other is to replace the high performance
engine (which would have been used for short track racing)
to an engine that is more normal in these cars driving on the
streets. I told him, I am NOT a racer but a cruiser so do not
need such a high powered engine but I know Peter would have been
delighted to get more power.
He also says he could detune the engine that's in there with a
different crank shaft. I think that would not work as well as I
will still be left with the same dilemma over the carb.
He says that he has had the car over to the emissions place
several times but just cannot get it through the test.
I did express that not being kept in the loop about what they are
doing is driving me up the wall and that one simple phone
call will give me the information I need to make decisions about
the car.
He says they are working on all the other cars that are coming in for
regular service as well as my car while its taking time to find out what
is the best option for my car.
I feel a lot better knowing what is going on over there.
Neither of us got mad or anything just plain speaking that cleared
the air a bit.
I feel that if its going to cost a lot to keep fiddling with it and
trying parts, it might be more cost effective to just spend the
money on a new engine and have it over and done with.
I have a thick manual of parts for the Firebirds and Tran Am's
so I can gauge what costs are. ( I ain't just a pretty face!)

I promised Peter I would finish what he started when I talked
him into restoring BR in the first place.
So for now the saga continues.
Now I have to bring Ian up to date(not an easy thing to do as I
know he will try to talk me into selling it or trading it in.)

Its Melanie's birthday today, she is 56 and still alive and kicking
after all she has been through, a real survivor.
