First topic message reminder :

Yes that's her Carole though like you she doesn't spring to mind, just have Marilyn Monroe of pop in my mindI know she had twins Paul & Barry who took up singing but Paul I think it was gave it up and just wrote songs and his brother went solo.....but I couldn't tell you the songs of either the Mum or the twins. I do remember the boys slightly

Yes it was Lily sitting at a table opening one of her Christening presents......this one is Lily getting Christened, hope you can see her ok....and the lady Vicar, who was lovely.

Hi all, thanks for the information Vicky confused1
Michael has just been, they went to Brum yesterday and picked his suit, a three piece with Scotch tarten waist coat with a pink time and pocket hanky
Funny he said he was getting it from Moss Bros, and look at me a bit odd when I said
Yes Moss Brothers they must of been going over a 100 Years, I don't know if he thought Moss Bros was a new hip name,
They still think its odd that I had. Made to measure suits and all ways wore a suit on a Saturday night, Friday and Sunday a jacket and trousers if not a suit, but we all did the mod bregade scooter1 under our parkas

funnytvprog  very good Bond.

Yes Lee Child was born in Coventry Bond, though at the age of 4 I think it was the family moved to Birmingham to get a better education, he ended up going to Sheffield Uni doing Law, but after he left he went into TV and then started writing  using Lee Child as his pen name....his younger or older brother Andrew is also a writer ..... oh Lee's name is really James Grant, he's married and lives with his wife in New York.    Malc & Jaffer are fans of him.   I've read a couple of his books.

I see that guy who kept those hostages at the bowling alley got 12 years.

 well done Spencer.

Good afternoon ladies, when I walked back I saw a mate who's dog is new the the snow and when he took her out first thing this morning and nobody had been about to flatten the snow she was jumping in it on all four like a spring lamb loved it
am I getting my auther mixed but wasnt Lee Child from Coventry? I don't know what he made of TOM THUMB from (bedside a lot of money) top gun playing Jack Reacher in the films as Jack is supposed to block out a door frame when he comes into a room

The main roads are OK but the paths and side are still hard packed snow and slippy
We are now going for Sunday lunch and the Kings head in Atherstone now not Orton on the Hill as the name says its on a hill and still a bit slippy
Right back to my book
Kettles on, tea or coffee and L&Ls in the fridge

Morning guys .nice avatar of you Vicky
So you still have the white stuff and we were
NOT thank goodness BLOWN away
although at times I was wondering hearing the
strength of the wind gusts even at 130am
Our NEXT exciting storm looks like to be WEDNESDAY
which is my day to go to Fran's headbanger
WHY Lord WHY
Anyway sun is trying to push away the clouds but its only
39f right now so a tad nippy

Good for Benjie liking the deep snow ,I do so miss watching
Saba racing around the back garden plowing into the snow piles
burying his muzzle then coming up covered in snow ,charging around
making SURE he disturbed ALL the fresh snow ,this was the ONLY
time he EVER went up on the flower beds mind you ,good job
my flowers were all "asleep" deep in the ground ,as any other time
he never attempted to go on the beds
Then I or Gil would make him pathways around the garden when
we had over 12" so he could run around like a motor car track and
he DID normally with Gabby Chelsea's little dog who followed him
EVERYWHERE close behind funnytvprog

Well another day dawns so I should away
Hope you who are up have a good day ,and that Marge had a good night
and is working down her "bucket list" of chores to do

Be back later run run run

Morning.......yes it's still white here too, though Benjie loves it he heads for the deepest pile to run through.

I gave up the book I was reading.....boring, after you've read a good book, as I had about the 1st world war and then the next one is boring talktohand  sorry can't be bothered, the one I've now picked up seems better.....tarot card reader Ms Dolly Greene sees murder in the cards of this client not just the death card but murder, of course she can't tell her so just warns her to be careful of her boyfriend.   affraid   "The Prime Of Ms Dolly Greene" it's called by E.V.Harte.

Later.

Oh btw Cov's game has been cancelled because of the weather.

You guys and your sexy undithings funnytvprog

Vicky will know more Monday as that is when Hospice is coming
to get all the paper work done ,I am not sure yet about Barbara
as I told the Hospice lady after she does Gil she normally helps
me with what ever I need doing or sits with him while I go to
the store or any appointment I may have so not sure what another
Aid would do but she said we would talk about that Monday
Of course as Gil gets worse I may need the extra help
they basically are here to make sure HE is comfortable and that
I get any help and support I need ....

Well on top of all the rain and high winds  54mph so far
we have we now have the rain turning to SNOW
Lots of power outages in areas where the wind has uprooted
trees so they fall on power lines ...
One thing I HOPE we do not experience

Anyway stay warm people just ordered a sausage-mushroom-onion pizza
as not in the mood to cook

Oh just heard from David ,he is in California till Wednesday
for work
Speak tomorrow

We just had a drizzle shower but the front is still out there
north of us waiting until later. Its a slow moving front so
no winds for now.
The mountains are happy as the snow level has deepened
so all the ski resorts will be up and running.
It might be a tad dangerous getting there as you need chains
or studded snow tires. just 4 wheel drive is not going to
cut it.
The most rain will fall in the valleys inland so we are not expecting
to get more than a inch here at the coast. Inland its a different
story as the places that were hit with mudslides in January are
already under orders to be ready to evacuate now!
Its the same temps as yesterday, only one degree difference up
or down.
Ian let me know that he has set up Vince's payment schedule so
he will get his whole years amount in one lump sum. Then we wait
for what ever will happen.

He also got on my back about what I should be doing here and I had
to tell him that I have been dealing with an upset tummy and that
Imodium is the watchword here right now. I cannot go to the DMV
and stand in line outside for an hour and a half and sit waiting for
another hour to be seen and constantly running to the toilet.
The office holds about 200 people so you do the math.
I can however do short runs which won't take much time like
putting something in the mail or dropping off the tax documents
at Brian's office.
I will probably be better in a couple of days so not to worry.
Got some instant oatmeal and some Black berries to go on top.
(the Raspberries are from Mexico and even though they are organic
I won't take the chance ) the ones I picked up are from Canada.
The Blueberries come from either Mexico or Chile at the moment
so I am sticking to Bananas and the Blackberries for now.

I know I can pick up frozen blueberries any time, I just can't remember
to put them on my shopping list and remember when I get home!
I have been eating an apple a day, got some lovely sweet crisp ones
that are also organically grown. That is my snack in the evening
along with some cheese slices and some light corn chips and a
half glass of red wine.
I have also taken to having a low salt V8 drink with my lunch as well.
I have a roll up of a flour tortilla with a thin slice of ham and a slice
of Havanti cheese(like baby Swiss) and a little relish to taste. or for a
change I have a small can of Red Salmon (on Sale) which will make
two lunches when mixed with English salad dressing or malt vinegar.
I do eat hot house small tomatoes on the side as the big ones here
give me acid reflux now. I have not been eating lettuce lately as
I don't fancy it right now but will try a butter lettuce this time instead.
(it goes off too quickly so I end up throwing half of it away.)
you buy the butter lettuce as a growing plant so you can water it
and hopefully keep it alive until you have eaten it all!
I also buy low sodium soups, my favorite is Tomato and Basil.
stick a few croutons on the top and I am in heaven.

I too used to wear circular skirts that I made myself after I made
one in sewing class at school but as you say ,don't let the wind get
under it or its stocking tops in view! (hope Bond doesn't read this far
or it will be the Radio Times again.)

Good afternoon all, Vicky I can see you now with you white heels with the pointed toes the pictures a bit of a fuzzy is it stockings or bare legs
Mind how you go then Carole its the wind here thats making the cold air Really cold

It's not the first time my skirt has blown around my waist......once walking along Blackpool promenade with my mate Carol, her brother and his mate and this gust of wind certainly blew my skirt up.   Again on the big wheel I held onto the bar and blow to my skirt.

No no Carole the doctor said IF my BP drops below 100, and that's the TOP number, I must stop taking the tablets.    And I never feel stressed that's the odd thing about it, though I must be.....today at home I was 116/ 82

Yes Bond we've certainly got away with it from how other parts of the country are and of course when that snow melts.....flooding.  Mad

Ok back later......might go out.

Morning Bond well we are likely to get BLOWN AWAY
today and any brollies  will be turned inside OUT
The wind has been getting stronger all night as I have heard
my wind chimes that I have hanging on the fir tree outside our
bedroom clanging away ,even Tabitha was up when I got up at 5am
sitting in the bay window watching the rain
The weather man is saying the strongest gusts will be around noon time
and 9pm tonight but that already some towns have  started seeing
some gusts around 44mph plus its a FULL MOON and HIGH TIDE so people
preparing for flooding ,glad we live on a hill at times like this {well for
the flooding not the WINDS }

So I thought maybe an English Muffin with melted cheddar and
a tomato  this morning  would be in order ....

Vicky you said your Dr said when your BP gets BELOW 100 you can stop taking
the pills ,your referring to the "bottom number " right ?
Gil's top number has been up this last week as its been normally in the
130's but has been 150 when the nurses took it ,but his bottom number
has stayed around 70,which is what the Dr was interested in saying only
if the top number went to 190+ we should be concerned and call
as that top number is your stress number {the reason YOURS flies so HIGH}
and they were interested in the BOTTOM ones more
My last BP was 126/80 don't know HOW as I can feel it rising when Gil
has an issue Rolling Eyes

Anyway will see what today brings have two nurses due one Physio one O/T
and Barbara of course ,not sure about next week yet confused2

Hope everyone got home safely

MORNING LADIES ....Bond what you going to be doing

Vicky I think you will have to change into leather trousers to get on the he back of the bike or a he lovely skirt will be up around your waist
Another hot breakfast so porridge and honey cornflakes and hot milk toast and marmalade Coffee tea orange juice and L&L Back later

David's just got back from walking  snows high in places, nothing like how other parts of the country have though.

Hope Matt got home ok and wasn't held up for hours.

Yes Margaret our hospitals over here have the coloured lines helping you to get to a certain dept.  sometimes you have footsteps.

The doctor said to the nurse "Are you using the right cuff?" and she said "It's the smallest"   it did feel very tight, as though it was cutting my arm in two....though sometimes David has it really tight but my BP reading is still fine.  confused2

I've been lucky with all the medication I take Carole......he did say if my BP drops below 100 then I've to stop taking them.  confused2     I'm feeling fine though.

Later. Oh David took this the other day.

Wendy just sent pictures of heir "SNOW" fall
or as Tracie told her "aunt" dandruff funnytvprog
But Derek said its not the snow so much as the cold that
is causing all the problems over there

Glad Ian made it back to the UK and hope he got home OK Marge

Your filing systems sounds very good .....

I know Vicky that any medication can create side affects
guess I am one of the lucky ones that have not had any
with what ever the Dr's have given me ....lets hope you get yours sorted
sooner than later ...

Well Visiting nurse has been and gone ,not sure if she will be returning
until they sort out this Hospice thing
Gil's oxygen was still only in the high 80's {should be 92 or better}
so she was going to call the Dr's office after they return from lunch
At least his MOOD is better today Tracie had him funnytvprog

She has to Intern for the job she is studying for a month so cannot
for 4 weeks ,how she will live with no $$ I do not know
but she said she will work it out ,that's my daughter

OK so I am going to sit for a while before fixing dinner
Back later

Got a FB message from Ian that he was on the ground
at Heathrow so don't know if he is actually home yet
if he has to take a train to Woking
He says he is still reading The Great Escape book he
chose as his reading material for this trip.

I told him I did not think that Brickhill was his real name
as I cannot find his name in any of the lists of all prisoners
that were at Sagan. He was shot down over North Africa
I think he spent a long time getting to the camp in
Occupied Poland going through camps in Italy along the
way.
I do know that he would have used a nom de plume for
The two books about the escapes from Sagan, The Wooden
Horse and The Great Escape. He also wrote Reach For The Sky
about Bader and how this legless Spitfire pilot ended up in Colditz.
Being dropped new legs to replace the ones he was wearing when
he was shot down.
All of them ended up being block buster movies so bet he didn't
need to work anymore for the rest of his life. The books are still
being printed.
He passed away in 1990 I believe according to Google.
I do know that there is a second biography being written about
Brickhill as I read about it in a post on a POW website news
letter asking if anyone had details on him. Bet he does not know
about Bob Goods book.(the author I helped).

There was more than one airman who was really an undercover
agent in the camp as there was an American who worked
for the for-runner of the CIA. His name was Sage.
If the Germans had know that, he would have been given to
the Gestapo as soon as he arrived in camp.
Another mystery to be solved.

Its still nice and sunny this morning but the rain is due to be here
later tonight and over the weekend.
Its even more cold this morning at 44F current temperature,
a high of 58f is expected with an overnight of 44f with a 40%
chance of rain(anything over 30% is a good chance ).
Did not feel up to going out for dinner last night as I was a
bit wound up about Ian's trip back home from Budapest
this morning. I was hoping he would contact me ASAP
and he did.

Our hospitals have not gone that far Vicky. We have a sign in sheet
and time of arrival and Drs. Name. Everything is entered into
their computer along with Drs. comments and findings by the staff.
But the hospital does have colored lines to each department on the
floor. It can be a bit daunting if you have never been to a particular
department before so following the "Yellow, blue ,green or red" lines helps.

I have lots of problems with the electronic blood pressure cuff so ask that
they take it manually before I leave with a bigger cuff. Melanie is
just the opposite ,she needs a child's cuff to get a correct reading.
I wonder sometimes how on earth they know they are getting a correct
reading !
I too have a BP cuff at home and if I take a reading first thing and last
thing before going to bed for a week I find that I am in the normal range
all the time!
When I turn the card in they look at me with great suspicion that I cheated
some how. I have given up trying to please them. It is what it is !

All I know is, my blood work results are about the same as they were so
not getting worse at my age is a plus, I must be doing something right.
I get a copy of the results with the average range readings listed so
I can see for myself if anything has changed since the last one.
I am going to see if they can fit me in for a hair cut today as its
getting out of shape again. Won't bother with a car wash for BB
if its going to rain. Going to send off the contract to the Termite
company and make sure I have all the tax documents that Brian
needs to begin my taxes then I can drop that off to his office
which is five minutes drive away.
Another one bites the dust!

My new filing system is going be what I wanted in the first place,
I will use large vanilla envelopes, one for each item that I need
to keep track of with the date and item printed in BIG letters on
the outside. I can do it by year, do not need to do it by month.
Can do one each for the cats and one each for the cars and
one for all the warrantees for the appliances I have.
the rest will be for the monthly statements I get ,in their own
envelopes Its only 12 per year. I am capable of filing them
in the order they came in. I had better get it done before Ian
decides to come over again or he will try and talk me out of it.
Must run away, lots to do on my list for today. TTFN

WOW did you see the info on the new drug

https://www.everydayhealth.com/drugs/indapamide
I could not take that having had Thyroid problems

Are they SO THICK that they do not realize you get
SO UPTIGHT when at the Dr's having your BP taken
that it shoves it SKY HIGH
Your BP the first time is what Gil's was the day in 2004 when he
had his brain Aneurysm when the Paramedics came to the house
and then rushed him to the ER

Well I am back from the bank ,should have KNOWN better
to go this time of the month as all the welfare people get
their $$ put into their bank accounts and are at the ATM's
withdrawing cash.they used to get checks/and paper food stamps
now its all done with bank cards

Came home washed Gilly and got him dressed and up
now sitting here watching TV waiting on the Visiting nurse
she should be here within  15mins then he can do the scratch
off lotto tickets that I bought with the $$ Tracie sent for me to
buy for him

So back later ,its not as sunny as it was yesterday but mild
rain is supposed to start ahead of this Nor'easter later this evening
so if you see me fly by on me broom throw out an anchor will ya
{you have to be SILLY or one would go    ,wouldn't you}

Back later  run  run

Red alerts are the highest of level warning and they are issued when it is highly likely the weather will cause a high level of impact....delay on public transport, deep snow blocking roads etc.

The new tablet is 1.5mg Indapamide.

One was hard centre the other two were soft centres.  Smile

Oh started a new book  "Death Comes To Lynchester Close"  by David Dickinson.

Avatar is the yummy pudding I had at Coombe Abbey ....rice pudding but not any ordinary rice pud....first caramelised apricot, toasted almonds, rice pudding, ice cream  & sprinkled toasted almonds.....oh a rice pud to die for.

Oh so glad Gil has agreed to have the oxygen.    AND Keith's finished  .....put the bunting up.

Glad Jim's getting his act together Margaret and Melanie's getting more & more healthy.

Yes Bond some have been stuck for 16 hours.  Shocked

Awww great photo Carole.

As to the hospital WELL....first of all it's a nightmare, you go to the reception desk (usually it's then they say "sit over there".... nono  not now)  went to the reception desk, handed in my letter at which she says "Book in at that screen over there" now we do that at my doctors so that was ok....THOUGH why have the bother of trotting off to the reception desk?  confused2   unless of course you're elderly and confused Shocked Watch it....anyway off to the screen we go I put my details in and it says "Go to zone blue"    Shocked   I'm elderly and confused now....."zone blue zone blue...that's red...ah that's blue"  oh btw you get a ticket, like you do at the blood centre Bond,  we sit in zone blue.....then on another screen it says "Will number.....go to nurses desk 2"  I said to David "Oh flipping heck, hope mine comes up 3 because I can see desk 3 but where's 2"  now I do like to be early so I set off half an hour early.....to read next to the guy I was seeing he was running 30 minutes late....we sit there and sit there, watching confused faces wandering about....people saying to nurses "Why's my number not come up yet?" to be told because their doctor is running late  "But numbers after mine have come up"  to be told it's because other doctors are on time yours isn't.  THEN my name was called.....not my number, anyway I went with this nurse and I was weighed then taken down to his office and she opened the door telling him I was waiting.....20 minutes later I was still waiting, he did have someone in his office  though but the same nurse came along and spotted me "Are you still waiting?"  at which she opened the door, put her hands on her hips (I thought Bond would be smiling at that)  and just stood there looking into the office.....she closed the door and said to me "Don't know what's keeping him, they've been in there ages"  a couple of minutes later a guy in a wheel chair being pushed came out but he still didn't call me for about 10 minutes.....THEN he came out and asked me to come in saying "Sorry I've kept you waiting"  he went through everything heart everything fine and then...."Right come with me and I'll get the nurse to take your blood pressure" I told him it would be up and he said he'd seen on my file I've got "White Coat Syndrome"   so off we went and the same nurse took my BP  and it was 210/90  right she said I'll leave you for a couple of minutes and see if it'll drop ....No it went up to 214/100  the doctor (he was the Consultants underling btw  nice guy I have to say) when he saw it he said "Oops"  went back to his office...."Are you in a rush?" he said  "Not really" I said so he told me to sit outside the office, he'd see someone else and then I'd have my BP taken again, I'd showed him the BP numbers at home btw,   anyway he saw this other guy and after he'd gone I went off to have the nurse take my BP which had gone down to 199/90 the doctor said "I'd love to sign you off but with you blood pressure I'd better check with my boss"  and of course the boss said "No"  so I've been given another BP tablet and I've got to go back to see him  and they're going to put a BP wrist band on for 24 hours to see what's going on.  SIGH!!!   My surgery did that last year and it was fine at home.     So I was later getting home, so late doing dinner and after that I went to bed....I was cheesed off in fact I took 3 boxes of chocs to bed with me...."Oh stuff it" I said and had 3 chocs.     this morning I was 111/70

Sorry I went away Susan telephone  they're on red alert.....luckily she's working at home today, though Matt gone in.

Having a  so I'll be back later.

Morning Bond glad you dodged the worst
part of the snowy then ....
Have fun with the "mask man"
We have a Nor'easter on our doorstep
for tomorrow ,from what i can see the worst
part may be the high WINDS that will be gusting
to 60mph and could disrupt power service in areas
so better make sure I have my flash lights handy and
some cold cuts ready in case we lose power
Good night Sleep ,and only the visiting nurse due
at 1130am ,then both therapists tomorrow and that will be it
from this agency according to the Dr's office confused2
Hope they let me keep Barbara on though as it does help having someone
here so i can go to the store without worrying about Gil being alone
and if she loses the hours she does here I will feel bad for her...

Again hope Vicky comes in and tells us what happened confused2

Morning Marge back later run run run

to eat anything I made him a plate of 1/2 a ham steak
some mashed potato and diced tomato's and he ended
up eating it ALL and said it was nice

I will most diffidently give you a telephone
NOT COLLECT BTW as we have a good phone service
can even call the UK for 6 cents an hour    as I know I may need
SOMEONE to talk with who has been through it ....

I am off to shower now

Wonder if Vicky stood up for her rights at the hospital
confused2 run run run run

I am beginning to think that The Gasser Brothers
are from the same family.

Carole, glad the work has finally finished.

I am beginning to think my Gasser Bros are
related to Keith, its taking so much time to get
BR fixed.
I think what I really miss is the odd phone call
keeping me up to date and telling me what it
might be going to cost. Hillside always kept me
in the loop.
I did tell them to fix it once they had it so......
Luckily I can go ahead and reregister it at the
AAA and get the 2019 tab to put on the license
plate (When I get it back).
I was a busy bee yesterday, I got BB gassed up,
Dropped Melanie's B-Day card off at the Post Office,
Went to Staples and got copies of my eye
exam and the Termite contract. then went grocery
shopping and got rid of $25 worth of change at the Coinstar
machine in the store.
Had some lunch and had a long easychair nap.
Woke up a few times in the night from dreams I was having
about Peter and I, not bad dreams but confusing dreams.

I have been having a long distance chat with Ian in Budapest
about a book he found in a local second hand shop. Its
called "The Great Escape" which he has never read.
This was all done on FB messenger I might add.

I was telling him that the winter of the forced march was the worst
in decades across Europe in 1945. I asked could he imagine what it
was like for the POWs being marched and going by goods trains
from Sagan to Lubbeck in Germany in the cold and snow.

Talking of snow, Melanie posted a graph on FB of the amount of snow
expected She is at 2,000 ft. so will only get a light dusting but at the
higher elevations of the Sierras it could be 4-6 ft. or above.
The Senora and Tioga passes are closed for the winter now.
They are dealing with black ice problems nearer her home.
Snow falls, melts in the sun and freezes at night on the roads .
early morning it just looks like shade from the trees until you
try to brake on it.
Jim got a little bump on the back of his Smart Car from a lady who
did not see that there were patches of black ice even on the
main street of Sonora only a mile away from where they live.
No damage but a scare anyway.

Its seems that Jim is doing all the right things this time, he asked
for help and he is getting it from all quarters.
Melanie is getting better every time I talk to her and she is getting
stronger in her resolve to help Jim beat his addiction this time.
She knows only he can do it but opening up truthfully to anyone
was Jims biggest problem which he is turning around we hope.
Sometimes your deepest, darkest thoughts are what keep you
from getting well.

Carole, some times it takes a while to sink in.

Hospice means he has been diagnosed as terminal so
needs only passive care from now on. Peter was on oxygen
when he passed away , it just makes it a little easier on them
not having to struggle to breath. Peter also had a DNR order
which just means not standing in the way of nature taking
its course and that they are not in pain. Its not a time linked
process.
It can be at home or in a facility. I want you to promise that if
you need any support on the phone , you can call me collect
any time.
God Bless.

Hi Marge I see another post went MIA again
I wonder where they go to

Well I do not know what to think right now
as after convincing Gil to have the oxygen I called
the Dr's office to tell them and she was very pleased
and said that Gil also qualifies for "Hospice" home care
due to his circumstances ,so the O/T  will stop and they
would send in nurses to care for him ,not sure about Barbara
the Dr's Liaison will let me know ,but will not start the process
until next week
I know it has to come but do not know how to handle this right
now

Be back later
OH BTW KEITH HAS FINISHED cheers

Did the big shopper food shop......no snow in the Asda car park though it was packed.....it's this "It's going to snow some more" stupid warning have got people in a panic confused2 Mad you'd think we'd never had snow before.

I hope the Occupational therapist can convince Gil Carole,

And the snow is coming down.

I'll be going off to the hospital this afternoon.......later then.
