Yes Vicky running very slow probably
trying to get back up to speed funnytvprog
Well I now know what I shall get from back there
used to be £75.10 week ,will now be getting the widows
pension I will now be entitled to £159.37 week
Gil used to get £161.73 week ...
Now I need the £ to go back up as it dropped today
to a low I have NEVER seen it at $1.29
And I THINK the US has figured out the PC problem
that kicked me out of the senior medicare extra help
program as when I called my Thyroid Dr's office to pay the
$50 co pay that the program SHOULD have paid but did
not because the crappc said I was not in it,she said
"oh its saying your WERE covered back in April",so she is going
to resubmit the bill
Getting sorted SLOWLY but SURELY

I am hungry but not sure what for just had some melon
but that did not hit the spot so have to go hunting

BE BACK LATER run run run

WELL thought this site would
never finish doing MAINTENANCE work

I go Wednesday to my Dr Vicky,he is on holiday
so have to see his PA confused2
Went to pay the Electric bill and cable and could
not WAIT to get home ,its feeling like 93f with a 72%
dew point and its not 11am yet ,they are saying we
could see triple digits even here along the shoreline fan

Picked up some buffalo wings and making rice and some veggies
for Blaine and I tonight do not want the stove on too long today

Threw two loads of washingbasket washingmachine before I
went out so that's all done and put away

Called the funeral home but they have no pick ups down here
today so Gilly will have to stay up there until they do,although
the owner assured me they came down here at least once a week confused2

Hope you got the prayer cards I mailed out
Looks like I have mail from the on my pension ,even the mail
person here is EARLY today probably trying to do their rounds asap

Ok so let me open the mail and I shall return.......

KEEP them a coming

Been nattering to Bev on the telephone  we're meeting up Thursday.

talktohand  oh well McDonalds Carole say no more..

You must need your sleep Margaret so don't worry......and don't over do it in that heat.

Yes Carole two years and one month apart for Steve & Rob....and then 6 years later we had Susan.       In one of the interviews Steve & Rob were asked if they ever fell out and Steve said "No we've always been close"   and that's true, they've always been really close.

Ok Bond speak tomorrow.......cornflakes please.

I'm hoping to see the doctor tomorrow also Carole, need to reduce my pills again.....also asking him about my foot swelling up, wonder if I need to go back on water tablets.  confused2     IF I can get to see him that is.

New avatar Steve & Rob on the swings at the park.

Just concerned after seeing you on
line but you left no words of wisdom Marge funnytvprog

They are saying we could break a temp record here
tomorrow in Bridgeport as on this date we hit 90*
when ever it was ,I know it felt like 93* when I got back
from seeing Linda with the dew point today so heaven help
us what it will feel like tomorrow
going to call the Dr in the morning to see if I can get in
to see him as my foot is not getting any better and cannot stand walking
like this
Anyway will say night night for now sleep tight everyone

In trouble again!
Post disappeared again.
Must be doing something wrong somewhere.

I am OK but needed extra sleep this morning
I was awake at 4am but will not feed the cats
before 7am. so dozed off and fed them at 7am.
Then I sat down to let them eat in peace and I
went to sleep again for another 3 hours!
Making slow work through all the chores with
lots of rest stops, yesterday changed the filter
on the furnace as I am using the fan so much.
Still have the new smoke/co2 detectors to
put up and managed to do lots of washingbasket
also, so no using the washingmachine or dryer
for a few days.
They are forecasting another hot week ahead of us
with temps inland going over 100f!
Going to mop kitchen floor a little later. and clean
up a few spots where cats barfed during the night.
Started giving them hair ball paste so hopefully it
will help stop it.
Two more wild fires near Melanie but further up the mountain
and blowing north east from her. Resources are getting pretty
thin right now so have sent for more water dropping aircraft
but state still won't allow the Canadian Super Scoopers to
help out. I guess they are holding them in reserve. What for
I don't know. they have a couple of fixed wing aircraft and some
water dropping helicopters but its not enough. A lot of fire fighting
is going on at ground level with inmate crews from the local jails.
They already lost a bull dozer driver and a fireman who got hit
by a falling dead tree at the Ferguson fire.

Evacuations are taking place from all the camp grounds and lodges
up highway 108 and not allowing anyone up past Mi- Wuk.
which is several miles up the mountain from Melanie.

Oh we even had a report of so many people
just  this week getting sick on McDonald's salads
Vicky ,and then there was all the romaine lettuce
coming I think from Arizona ?
I hear you about the seafood why I only had one
piece of calamari ,and one mini fish cake

We both enjoyed the time out which was the
main thing ..

I see Marge logged in now so better stick the
back on
You know Steve and Rob are about the same as Tracie and
Blaine in ages she was 48mths  when he was born ,just a nice separation
of course never thought I would be getting pregnant again
As Blaine was only 10mths  old when I found out I was having
Spencer ,there's 19mths  and 2days between them

I can STILL hear Gil saying "but you can't be expecting ,cos"
Yer  right headbanger

Drinks look good Bond.

Not had any reports of people getting ill with the salads Carole over here......and anyway you could say sea food is dodgy to eat out also, but the way I look at it is as long as the place you're eating is clean you've got no worries..     And they do really yummy side salads.....as they do lovely individual trifles.  Mmmm!!!

New avatar is when we were holidaying in Cornwall.....Steve is 2 years and 4 months, Rob is 3 months.

There you Go Bond ,BET you had no problem
with WIFI THAT time ,now take'th thy
and lets SEE some CLOSE UP SHOTS other than
your drinky-poos nono

Well new avatar is where Linda and I went
it was nice and I had small portions of
Calamari ,crab cake ,chicken on a stick, fried Plantern
Broccoli Spinach mushrooms
2nd time up I had fruit strawberries melon and that dish
they make with fruit and little white marshmallow things
and a 2"x2" piece of what was supposed to be chocolate cake
cost us $27 for us both so not bad
Weather is H O T H O T as was normal I was there earlier
than Linda and the parking lot was PACKED as this place
is in a mall .....we have decided next time we might go see
a movie on a Wednesday which Linda tells me is senior day
so we get a discount
I have not seen a movie since I was married to Robert Nancarrow Shocked

Where is Marge today ,hopefully sleeping in ,SOMEONE should be doing it

Yes I love salad as well Vicky but with all these people getting
sick on them I am leery to eat them out in public ,as it was Linda
was wiping her hands after we served ourselves the food we choose
as she said her daughter said THAT is also a good way of picking up
germs from when others handle them affraid

Just made it in the house though ,only problem with eating out
and the HOT WEATHER waitingloo

Any L & L's going run run run

I guess it was because you claimed off Gil's pension Carole...... Gil having reached 65   I would have had to wait 5 years after my 60th birthday before I could claim off David's, so it was pay out and get a pension when I reached 60.

Been to small Palmers .....had a side salad.   They do lovely salads.

It's really hot out though.

fish TO YOUUUUU Choccy fish
Extra fish in the fridgefood is for you...
BOND hands off now talktohand
Bond maybe your going to have to write
one or TWO liners if writing longer loses the WIFI
connection confused2

Again going to be HOT and dry here today sunny already
shining brilliantly through my bay window,so had to close
the blinds ,something Gil HATED me doing as he believed
in the old saying "and let there be LIGHT" ,but as I used to tell
him ,I had to pay the ELECTRIC BILL so nono

Barb said her son {whom I met yesterday for the first time } was thrilled
with the TV he is going to try & repair ,he is only 16 /17 but I believe
he is Autistic or slightly disabled as he was very hyper and struggled
a couple of times to get his words out
She had never mentioned this to me ....
Said she misses coming here to see me and Gil and keeps saying if
there is ANYTHING I NEED to telephone

Vicky you did good with your ,I see Bond took a close
up ,but NOT of his surroundings headbanger
We will have to interrogate him on his return as to WHY
we never knew they were going as a "family" again as I could have
sworn they were going as a "couple" this year confused2

Well hope Marge had a good night ,who needs an alarm clock
when you have a ,EVERY MORNING he wakes me
starting around 430am,as soon as I am up HE goes back to sleep

Some towns here yesterday with the weather that AGAIN missed
Bridgeport got 4 -1/2" of ,that is a months worth
They are saying our next chance of any will be around
Wednesday

I do not know WHY I or Gil did not have to pay any to get what I get
Vicky/Marge ,just lucky I guess or what I worked was enough, but like
Marge said taking early retirement knocked my pension
down a CHUNK to what I would have gotten back then had I worked
until I was 65 and 10 mths which for 1942 was how long we have
to work here to claim a FULL pension
Now a days my three have to work till they are 66+ in order to do that
and I saw where the Government was trying to change it saying
its a GOVERNMENT BENEFIT ,NOT that we had WORKED and paid into
it all our working lives so we are entitled to it headbanger

OK so I must away meeting with Linda at 1130 will be back later
oh yes doggy bags

Good luck then Choccy P,   hope you hear very soon.

Morning to you Bond.

As I said Carole I wouldn't have got that if David hadn't paid the £1,400  in, as did Peter for Margaret to get her pension, I did work full time for 7 years until I had Steve, and then on a Saturday at C&A in Cov when Steve & Rob  were 3 & 5.....until I was pregnant with Susan 6 years later.      I did a number of part time jobs once Susan turned 15, but only for a short time, a year or so..

Well going to be a hot day again...... fridgefood  there's Choccy P in the fridge.

I used to always have my close at hand for those photos of Steve.

I did not have to pay anything in when I claimed
my UK pension ,all the guy asked was had I worked
back there ,and I did although not that long before
having Tracie and for less than a year after I returned
to try and make a go of it with Gil after we first split
and I worked at the Lockhurst Lane Coop ...
You get more than me then Vicky as that works out to around
$425 in our money ...

Well David came up to visit me and insisted on taking me to Best Buy
to buy a NetFlix thing for my TV
He just set it all up for me and I ran him to the train station for
the 612pm train back to New York

Sorry Barb just came with her son to pick up the TV Spencer
was giving him ....I just took my shower and I am heading for
bed as I have SUCH a headache
Will be back tomorrow run run

Been nattering on the telephone to Susan, they're still unpacking boxes and cleaning out kitchen cupboards. They've got an orchard with various fruit trees.....though they've got to decide just what they're doing in the garden, what they're keeping and what they're not.

Builder starts in Sept.

I only worked a few years in the UK and
Peter had to pay up to the minimum amount
so I could draw on it at 62. He worked longer
than I did but had to wait until he was 65
to start drawing it which was about the
same time as mine took effect.(him being 3 years
older than me).
We both took an early retirement at 62 with
US pension so that was less also but had no choice
as we knew he was disabled by then.
Peter was at full points on his works
pension when they gave him, along with hundreds
of other workers at Northrop in 1995 a "golden handshake"
and at 56 Peter was too young for SS so company paid
$400 a month towards medical expenses as a "gap"
payment until he was 62.
The way I understand it, because I had not worked here,
my SS was based on what Peter was getting.
As I understand , the UK one turns into a widows
pension so would be based on what Gil earned while
working there. It usually above what you got but
less than he got.
I think I get $350 a month from UK but there are little increases
along the way so it does go up with inflation which other
common wealth countries do not get. theirs is a flat rate for
their life time.
The US SS does almost the same thing in a different way.
You at least can look that up online and it explains it all.

UK only notify me of an increase and peeves my tax man
as I don't get a tax form at the end of each tax year from
them but it does not matter as its already taxed before we
get it so do not have to declare it anyway.
(if you ever get told different don't believe them!)
There is a law between the US and the UK which says ,
UK don't tax Americans retired in UK and US don't
tax UK retirees living in US!

The smoke from the Ferguson fire being fought outside
the boundary of Yosemite is causing breathing problems
for folks living around the area .
Melanie says it smells like campfire in her house when she
wakes up and she has an air purifier in her bedroom!
It causes headaches and make sinuses swell and throats
hoarse, its smoke inhalation and not much they can do about.
They need a strong wind to blow it away.
I told her to check in with a friend and if she feels worse to let
someone know. I guess the local hospital is dealing with a
lot of elder patients complaining of the same thing.
I suggested she go into a local shop with full A/C for a while
as it does help.
Ian is complaining he has his summer cold again this year
so gave him some suggestions to help with that.

I, myself only woke up around 9:30am this morning as I had
the portable A/C on all night.

Did all my shopping yesterday so its DIY today.
New smoke alarms(don't know when the old
ones were installed so when in doubt , replace)
This time with a date on them!
Also replace the furnace filter and repair a screw that's lose
on one of the vents.
Its already 82f here but feels like 85f so goodness knows what
todays high will be! Humidity has gone down a little so not
so swampy feeling.
Stocked up on ice cream and lots of ice lollies. TTFN

Well popped out for cat treats and its POURING
plus up near Woodstock they had a tornado warning

Oh I still get MY SS pension Vicky for all the years
I have worked over here since 1970 to 2004 when I had to
take early retirement after being laid off in 2002 at age 59 1/2
{you can take early retirement here at 62 but lose a LOT of $$}
had no choice as could not find a job ,no one wanted a almost
60 yr old with 35 yrs of telephone /reception experience confused2

And no Gil's $168 mth private pension stopped ,it was not worth
him taking a cut in THAT just so I could get a few dollars when he passed
That was about £129 a mth and what he squirreled away these last few months
and what paid for his cremation at the Abbey Funeral home

The only thing now I have to watch is we are only allowed so
much between the TWO SS pensions  from BOTH countries
something Gil kicked up about when he first retired as he said
WHY can't I get the full amount I WORKED all those years for
them ,so will have to wait and see  as they may cut mine HERE
DOWN being as I am getting a little extra from Gil's  one confused2

I saw Susan's cheeks as well Vicky all your three had big cheeks whose
that after then ? David ?

Well guess Bond is busy sunny  watching eye eye
Bond I did not think the kids were joining you this year ,so you and Mrs B
will not be spooning ALONE @

Back later

It's hot out there.....we're still having it in the 80's.

Oh my cousin Carol dyed her hair black until she was in her late 40's....then one day she washed her hair over and over again in washing powder and all the dye came out and she was white, she did look good, she was telling me one day about these two women talking about Carol's hair and how it "Most cost her a fortune keeping it like that" little did they know.....  though not seen her for about 20 odd years, not sure how she's got it now.    My Gran wore her hair in a bun and it was white.

You still get    pension though don't you?     Will you still get Gil's private pension?   I know if David's goes first his private pensions will die with him, though    got her husbands private pension.

The management made sure no towels were thrown on the sun beds Bond.....we went 3 times and each time the management made sure you knew the towels would be removed.   Rob and family went the year they split up and no towels were ever put on the sun beds.   So maybe your management should do the same..    It really makes life easier......nothing is worse then turning up and not finding sun beds but 30 odd lying empty just with a towel thrown over.

And watch that sunny .....no not her just walking by...the bright thing in the sky. sunny

If you think Steve had big cheeks you should see Rob's when he was a baby Carole funnytvprog .

Love this photo of Steve & David.

Just worked that amount out
I used to get around $350 mth = (£269}
I now get at to days rate $609 mth ={£468}
so an increase of about £199 mth so really
not getting a LOT from Gil's pension
Gil's last check was for $847 =( £ 651) but it will ALL be OK

Never had that problem Vicky {throwing a towel
over a lounge chair} never went any where
to do that ....

Yes I should be OK Vicky but have to pay up the few bills I have first
THEN I should be OK ,was just concerned as to HOW MUCH
I would get on top of what I normally do from the
Still have yet to get any paper work from them explaining exactly
WHAT I get in £ .....as I get it obviously already converted at what
the rate is this day ...

Makes me wonder if Gil was calling for "Mary" when he used to
because he could SEE her there confused2 and
I did say something NASTY to him about a week before
he DID GO that he should ask her if she heard him even though it had
been ME taking care of him all this time headbanger
As I said on here for some reason THAT upset me more than ANYTHING Sad
Strange about your Nan asking the date

Well some places over here are getting a soaking right now not us YET
but the wind has the leaves on the trees standing outside ways
always a sign its going to

Glad tomorrow is going to be VERY hot but sunny and dry for
when Linda and I go to brunch/lunch

Look at those CHEEKS on Steve

My hairdresser found MY first grey hair when I was expecting
Tracie in 1960 so I was only 18 and she PULLED IT OUT
they always say for everyone you pull out MORE grow back
so I beat you there and would if I DARED let it go be WHITE as
both my Nan and Mum got to be talktohand not ready for THAT
look at the moment

Anyway back again later run run run

I hate that Bond when people come down early and throw the towel over the sun beds so you end up having to do the same.     Have to say in the hotel we used to go to in Fuerteventura  there was a notice saying not to throw your towel over the sun beds to save them .....and it worked,  still sun beds for everyone when needed.  Trouble is people save beds "Just in case" so the beds are there all day with towels over them when they could be used by someone else,   I did see when we were in Portugal once, someone had thrown their towel over this sun bed and this lady just walked up to the sun bed picked up the towel and threw it on the sand,  placed her towel on the bed and lay down on it.....we'd left before she got up so I don't know if the owner of the towel had returned.

Gosh I got my first grey hair when I was in my early 30's Carole, the reason I ended up having high lights to start with....then years later going blondish.     If I left it I'd be white.

Ok back later......btw I think Margaret did say ages ago you'd be ok if anything happened to Gil pension wise, seeing how Margaret had gone through the same thing when Peter passed away. I think they do know when they're going Carole, my Gran kept asking if it was the 9th of July, we all thought she was worried about missing our cousin's Gary's birthday (Carol, Jean & my cousin Gary) but she died on the 9th July ....that's also Claire's (Steve's partner) birthday. And Sylvia opened her eyes this day, gave me a big smile and put her arms around me.....which made me sob, she died the next day, I'm sure she was saying "Bye" for days she'd just lay there with her eyes closed, until this day, yes I'm sure she was saying bye.

Love this photo of Steve when he was 6 months.

umm whats this towel doing draped
over my chair .....
Hard to SEE what your saying being SO FAR away
Bond and I do not mean cos I am here in the
from Cala Bona confused2 could we have a couple of
CLOSE UPS

Looks like we are going to have a bit of a rough day
if these storms drop low enough towards the shoreline

Dry right now and of course starting off still warm 76f
but also starting off with 73% dew point so not really good
could get some in these storms but my grass
has never looked better than it has this year combination
of the sunny heat and on and off instead
of being dried up with ALL sunny and no
as we are prone to get most years ....

Must say a BIG cheers for the Social Security
office as my pension went in today so that will be a load off
my mind wondering what I would now get losing Gil's ££
Looks like I will still get what I used to {depending on the rate of exchange}
plus about $300 of what Gil used to get {his was about $800mth
again depending on the rate of exchange}
So I should be OK
Funnily enough I think he KNEW he was close to going as about
a week before he had asked if I was scared ,I said of what ,? but said
yes I am scared of losing you ,and he also asked the Hospice nurse
"when am I supposed to die" I answered him "when its your time"
Funny that is making me crying thinking about it so on to happier
subjects

MORNING LADIES what are we doing today ?

Seems Spencer's boss DID pay him when he took the two days off after
his dad passed, normally the rule here is you get three days off with
$$$ like Blaine's company gave him ,but Spencer did not know if Jim
would abide by that ,but he did

Ok chatted long enough ,heel seems a tad better but still going to
watch it and see the Dr if no better by the middle of the week
to see if he concurs that it could be gout Rolling Eyes

HURRY UP BONDS EATING ALL THE PASTRIES

Well taken my shower washed my hair,I only go
once every 4 weeks {used to be 6 years ago} as the grey

We are under a flood warning due to all the rain they
are getting away from the shore as its all coming down
into the sound and we get the run off ,not that WE here
get flooding as I am 1/2 way up a LARGE HILL ...

I bought a 6" seafood subway for my lunch but took
one bite and will be taking it back it TASTED NASTY
I am going to ask WHEN they made it Mad {the seafood}
Anyway came home and made a small sarnie of cheese
then had a Jamaican beef patty and just now I rolled
up four slices of honey turkey ,so that has been my food today

David might be coming up from New York tomorrow said he might
Sat/or Sun but told him I would be going out Sunday with Linda
so if he was coming had better be tomorrow

OK so last drink calls and I shall speak tomorrow
Feels like Saturday TODAY Shocked losing track of days ..

Well will not have to worry about having the Soccer channel

Yes but I like lots of lemonade Carole, talktohand

Yes the Government got us with "It's cheaper to have diesel and better for the environment" ...though as soon as we were all driving around in a diesel the price went up, more than petrol, and they changed their minds it was bad for the environment now and petrol was better.   Mine is still petrol though petrol is still dear but not as dear as diesel.   . In fact they'd like us now to be driving around in electric cars.  Mad

Well the footy headball  season starts tomorrow.....that went quick.

Avatar is Steve when he was 7 weeks.....er and me.....and a bit of my FIL.

You added MORE lemonade to the shandy
Vicky but isn't that what a shandy is
beer and lemonade ?

Did not know the jag was diesel ,that USED to be
more expensive over here then it went cheap but not
any more
I got 6gals for $20 last week think the pound was around $1.30
for a £ this morning
Fancy a cuppa

Thanks  for the shandy's  Carole.....though I did put lemonade with it.

Don't get me started on the price of petrol/diesel Carole.......   David put 40 litres in my car today and it cost £50.   And that's my little car ....you can guess how much it costs David to put diesel in the jag.

Two very cold shandys coming over ,Bond will not
need one sitting in the pool ,don't want him having
to "go" and miss all the *sights* I am sure that he
is drooling over funnytvprog

Blaine went to pick up Spencer's last check from
work and deposit it for him as he is really miserable
in Puerto Rico with nothing in his pocket for another week
His boss was supposed to direct deposit it but has not
that's the "old Jim" for sure ,already started before
Spencer went away telling him not to ask for more pay
and if he found out Spencer had been asking the others
what they got an hour ,he would be out ,Spencer figures
they have to be getting at least $30 hr (he has started him at $20 )
Guess Jim will NEVER change ...

Hot out side again glad to get home ,put $30 in my
tank so have a little better than 3\4 full ,I do not go far
so will last me a while ,gas now over $3gal even regular
you might find some stations with reg a few cents less
but I don't use reg in my GMC
Alright last one in the pool is out run

Well it looks like we have at least another week
of sizzling weather which means high fire danger
for another week also. In a way the high humidity
along the coastline has helped bring our fire
danger down so plants are not drying out completely.
Its 79f at 9:35am going to a high of 80f between 1
and 2pm. Current humidity level is at 67% and
very sunny
Going to be dashing out soon to get all the outside
errands done before it gets too hot.

We are now on flex time with the electricity supply
which means they can cut power on a gradual basis
in a lot of different areas with out causing a complete
black out. So A/Cs set to 78f, no washer or dryer use
until after dark and use the power wisely such as
not leaving a bunch of lights or fans on when not in
a room.
In down town LA they can cut back power use to
maintenance level in office buildings when no one
is in the building.
That still leaves the city lit up like Vegas at night!

Melanie called yesterday and said she cannot take Chewie
for a walk as the smoke is so bad from the Yosemite area
fire(its called the Ferguson fire) its still outside the boundary
of the park itself thank goodness. The park is closed for a few
days as it will allow more water and retardant drops by bigger
aircraft in very rugged terrain.
She reports that she and Jim get together for coffee once a
week just to visit with certain subjects off limits for the time
being. Jims sober living place is a bit in the boonies in
Arnold so only one road out in case of a fire.
We exchanged health reports and a lot of silly stuff.

Ian's program last night was disjointed as lots of actual
police and news video are used as well as having actors
play certain parts that were not recorded but needed to
explain the plot line of how the murders happened.
He didn't have any lines, he just had to look menacing.
The character he played was named Mark Porter!
He did not look much like the actual person he played
It should have been someone older or at least made up
to look older. These real life stories are usually on a tight
budget and a tight filming schedule but when you have
not worked for several weeks, its money in the bank!
Shandy sounds good to me, I'll have one too please.
