It's SNOWING ,started off though as sleet
so not a good thing as that makes it like a
skating rink underneath
Hoping Spencer stays home tonight being as we have to
take the cats tomorrow ,but knowing him he will go over
Carmen's and come home in the morning ,but I worry
with him going out AGAIN in this
Blaine also hope he comes home early

Vicky if it wasn't for needing a car to get to
the stores over here or Drs appointments  I would not
be bothered having no car

You talked about sprays going into the atmosphere being a global problem Carole were as they say the  main problem is the 4x4  polluting the atmosphere.....but as Margaret says weather patterns have been like this before records were kept.

Though I do agree with them that too much red meat is bad for you.......our bodies, and the meat, has changed from all those years ago when we were cave men and women.   Look at the fish we eat also.....how much plastic must we have eaten seeing that fish are full of plastic these days.   Which Prince Charles was going on about in 1970 and everyone thought he was mad. He wasn't, he was on the ball.

New avatar are the flowers Susan bought me last year for Mothers Day.

The weather pattern has wavered like
this many times before records were even
kept.
Seems every really hot summer is
followed by a colder than normal winter
in the UK.
look at the Sahara desert, it once had lush
trees growing in it!
Aside from the slight change in the rotation
of the sun, the human population has
been the worse enemy of all the clean water,
earth nutrients and loss of trees.
We used to be satisfied with seasonal fruit
and veg but now everyone wants it 100%
of the time so more countries are felling trees
to make growing fields.
The deforestation of the world was thought to
be solved by planting 1,000,000 trees which
never happened, the trees are the lungs of this planet.
We have more man made vehicles rotating above this
planet which is destroying the ozone layer.
We have ships still treating the ocean as their personal
toilet. Too many countries treating rivers and streams
as places to dump anything and everything.
The Ice bergs have melted before and so have the
glaciers and they grew back again.

Now of course the boffins are blaming cows so they
can reduce the amount of meat we eat.
If they had their way we would all be plant eaters only.
Since cave men found fire, humans have been eating
cooked meat as part of their diet.
Our teeth and digestive system are made to cope
with protein like meat.
Just think of all the land that would be plowed
under to grow more plant stuff to eat instead.
Think of the amount of water needed to grow it.
Its just not common sense.
That's my rant for the day, I will now put my soapbox
away.

Its another nice day here, at the moment its in the mid
60s and the humidity level had dropped down to near
normal for us.
Going to track down someone to come and light my
furnace pilot light today.
Did not go out to dinner last night as I am feeling some
effects from my Flu shot, just didn't want to go out
and eat a big meal. I did call Pam and let her know.
Its my meeting tonight so hopefully will feel a little
better tonight.
Has restless night last night as well. I think its all the
news here lately. I will allow myself to process it and
move on. TTFN

My grandad Pengelly was moved from
Plymouth because they were getting clobbered
as he was chief black smith and they transferd
him to the Ordinance in Coventry ,Nan said
she did not want to go to Coventry ,stayed in Plymouh
but the house got a direct hit and she had no choice but
to join Grandad ,but walked right into the big blitz
After this she was CONVINCED Jerry was FOLLOWING HER funnytvprog but
She always wanted to return to Plymouth ,but never made it
that is why my mum returned after we came over here as she
also always wanted to return to HER roots
Feeling colder brrrr ,

So you are willing to give up your 4x4  then Carole (unless you want to drive an electric one which we're all being told to do  Rolling Eyes )  and stop eating meat (not just bad for your health but also bad for the planet so we're told)  Union of Concerned Scientists lists meat-eating as the second-biggest environmental hazard facing the Earth, (BTW the first they say is the car)  I have to admit I try not to buy sprays....and I always take a plastic bag with me when I go out so I'm not buying extra plastic bags, re-cycle, though we do know some cardboard can't be used again....if it's got grease or glue on it, same with some plastics or tins....can't be used again.     Lets all go back to paper bags, nono  ah can't do that because we're cutting down the trees.....unless of course it's to cut the trees down to build some houses.....then it's fine.....oh but what about the cars clogging the roads up.....electric of course.....but you can only drive so far before you run out of juice  and of course if you drive with the radio on it runs out of juice sooner.      As I said how and why did we have an ice age?      Oh and I've stopped buying anything which has palm oil in it.....which is quite hard because so many things has palm oil in.   confused2

I remember my Gran telling me about my uncle (they were visiting her brother in Liverpool....another place which got hit hard) when he was about 10 yrs leaning out of the upstairs window cheering on one of our RAF planes as it chased a German plane through the skies.....and our plane brought the german plane down.    I remember going to Liverpool to my aunts and seeing the holes in this pavement which was machine gun fire  as a German plane swooped  down to shoot at people running along the street and those marks where still there.    Of course my Gran lived in Newcastle then, another place which was hit hard.

Shhhhh sorry Bond didn't see you there......I SAID SORRY BOND DIDN'T SEE YOU THERE.....erm asleep.

Oh dear that's bad Carole a gas leak.....good job someone (you) reported it.....you'd have thought the mail lady would have done.

I'm back and not only is it FREEZING
21f ,but the sky has that *snow expected*
look ,and I cannot believe that when I got
back the Gas Company had all their trucks
parked and are now taking readings as to
where they are going to drill and DIG UP
the road ,as even though WE do not have gas
service across the road does ,and there's a leak
some where as the mail lady told me a week
ago she smelt it and I reported it

Ah well will let you know what happens

Yes but Vicky with all these sprays etc
we are putting into the atmosphere now
a days don't you THINK that could be affecting
the weather pattern
And DINOSAURS FARTED

To change the subject ,I just sat and cried
for over 35mins watching this
but I am ALSO very proud to say I
was BORN a Coventry child of WW11 If you have a few minutes

How did we come to have the Ice Age then .....too many bonfires by those pesky cave men...dinosaurs farting all over the place. Over the centuries Carole weather patterns have changed.

I'd like Jacob Rees-Mogg .......but anyone who's a brexteer.....believes in THIS Country.

Oh as I said our weather is changing next week.....lower temps than normal they're saying.

We take Benjie every 8 weeks Carole.....he looks like an Old English Sheep Dog by then.....he does smell lovely though.

Ok back later ....off out to nibble and maybe buy a sweater.

Morning
Well the cities and towns are readying
the snow trucks /sanders for the snow
that should start around 3pm just when everyone
will be getting out to travel home

They are saying its the earliest in years that
snow has fallen { talktohand  NO MR Trump
its not GLOBAL WARMING } HA! what is it THEN headbanger

Yes Bond the death roll grows SO very very sad

So who would you want in as PM Vicky confused2
I think they are ALL the same promising this that and
the other UNTIL they are elected ...

Enjoy the nice weather then just IN CASE we accidentally
blow some of THIS YOUR way ....Shocked duck

So Benjie is all nice nice again will you take him again
before Xmas ? I used to get Saba done about four or five
times a year as some say its not good getting them washed
too many times Rolling Eyes

So the fridgefood  is full I see anything extra good
And I see Bond off with his wagon loaded once more to leading
players ,you could do with a TRUCK like MINE Bond 4x4

Spencer replaced the :gas: springs on my rear hatchback window
Tuesday as I found of late when it gets colder and I am loading
shopper into the back it was coming down on MY HEAD
and THAT THING IS HEAVY ,but it did not do it in the warmer
months ,Spencer said because the gas inside expanded even though
they probably needed replacing they stayed up ,well NO MORE
so he ordered two from work and in 10 mins had the old off and new on
at a cost of $38 ,I even gave him $10 for doing it
told him that was the FASTEST $10 he EVER EARNED funnytvprog

Have to go get the snow shovels out the shed this morning before
I forget as when Blaine and I cleaned the shed out we put them away
I always keep one by the front and back door in the winter
I have a small snow blower but its only good for smaller amounts of snow
that is kept in the garage

Danny has a BIG snow blower next door so hopefully he will plow us out should
we get a big amount this year
He blew MORE leaves off the grass etc yesterday ,but there are STILL MORE
to come down that is a TRILLION ZILLION leaves I am sure

Sent a meal around to him after Blaine got home as after the $40 I
had to force on him he will not take anything
He is on disability $$$ even though he is the same age as Spencer 54,has
been for years,{back/Kidney/Bladder  problems} but can use a blower
or walk behind  a plow but his  monthly money never goes up for cost of living
so I guess its a good job he gets everything included in his rent {heat water lights}
like his ex does next door {they are not divorced but tolerate each other } or he
would be in REAL trouble as it does not leave him a lot each month to live on ..

Something I used to tell Blaine when he was talking  years ago about
going onto disability as what ever you get at that moment say $900 mth
THAT is what it stays at for the REST of your LIFE

OK seem to have written a flipping

So will be back later going to pop out BEFORE the snow starts run run run

Morning.......took Benjie to the groomers first thing and then off to do the big shopper  so stocked up again.

Bright morning here also......though they're saying next week we'll have a lower than average temp.   Oooer.

Hope Mrs May is kicked out.....she's sold us down the river to Brussels....but then she's always been a remainer.    And she wore a Poppy on Sunday, laid a wreath for the men and women who died fighting for this Country, fighting to protect this Country keeping it from being ground down by the jackboots (as the Sitton Bros always say).....for shame Mrs May for shame.

Back later.....

I was and always will be a one man woman.
I do not want to end up being some old
geezers nurse!

I have never had enough time to myself which
I am enjoying now.
I can please myself for a change.
Just bought 2 more kindle books.

I stopped reading novels after
Peter passed away.
I could not focus and kept reading
the same page over and over and
could not tell you what I had read.
Now things have settled down a bit,
I am enjoying it once more.

BTY, its the owner of "Surf N' Dive"and
Body Glove who is doing the ferry job.
He has Zodiacs and big paddle boards
off loading things like Cans of gas and
generators and things along side
food and other needed items.
The houses that survived still have no
electricity but have running water and
sewer service in a lot of places.
Owners want to get back as soon as possible
because of the fear of looters.

Radio Times for Bond.......

Yes the avatar is another one from Shepton Mallet. gardens.....

David wouldn't have any paintings/prints or postcards going up the staircase......though we have some on the landing, but he said "NO" to the stairs.     Though he loved Susan & Matt's wedding photos which they had going all the way up their staircase.    confused2    and Shirley has lots of her paintings going up her stairs and David says "Yes they look good" but not here. headbanger

Morning Marge ,you feeling maudlin
I was doing that last week ,couple of days
I felt like SNAPPING someones HEAD OFF
for no reason
Your parents story sound similar to mine
Dad who hailed from Newbury was in the Royal Navy
was born in 1920 ,mum in 1923 and they married
when she was 17 &  he like Gil was 20 ..
In June of 1940
{Gil and I were a month off those numbers}
Because Dad was at sea so much  ,it was almost three years before
I was born in Dec 1942  guess I was a WHAM BAM thank you mam on
one of his  infrequent shore leaves funnytvprog

He could not deny it as I looked SO MUCH like him funnytvprog

I see the causality list is on the rise your side Marge
finding more bodies
of those poor souls who did not have time or a
way to escape

Also saw Sandra Bullock gave 100 thousand to a outfit
who are trying to rescue the MANY animals out there ,and
not the first time they say she has done this

It would be wonderful if those people who won ALL those MILLIONS
in the Power Ball and Mega Lotto's gave up some $$$ to help ,I know I would

Temps dropping only 28f here still hoping that we will
miss the biggest accumulation tonight calling only for 2"
along the shoreline and we can handle THAT

Made a steak in my air fryer when I got back from Fran's
with string beans and yellow rice for the lads dinner
I am having a Lean cuisine dinner bowl ,as I indulged
in breakfast with my hairdressers this morning
cannot BELIEVE how many calories are in an Egg Mac Muffin
and a hash brown  Shocked

Yes Marge any flat wall will look good for your pictures
when you get onto that project
I have ANOTHER one going DOWN my stairs but think
my sons MIGHT object to any MORE with the 10 I have on the
wall facing already  that I got from Mark

Watching Blue Bloods

Vicky nice Gladi's √
Back later

Hi Marge .stay safe over there good to hear people are pulling out the stops
It does sound like minutes made the difference stopping to collect things could make the difference
Marge I got the idea from Elton John he has the same thing on his staircase at one of his places. You could do it on a flat wall like a dry stone wall.
We now bring a postcard back from holiday visits to frame and hang .
Be safe

Wish I had stairs so I could do the same Bond
but live in a bungalow!
But will be adding a wall of pictures sometime
as I have so many I would like to display.

You would not believe how our local population have
responded to the major coast Highway being cut off and not
being allowed into the burn area around Malibu and Zuma
beach..
Our local Redondo Beach surf shop has a fishing boat
and another has a fire pass(a retired fireman) so
they have been loading up the boat with supplies and ferrying them
across the bay and have a pickup and trailer waiting to take them
into the affected area. Once this was put on TV ,now they have
several boats doing it.
We had an enormous flair up yesterday afternoon so another ton
of acres burning now.
As you know by now a lot of celebrities have homes in Malibu
and they have been very generous in donating money to help out
those who have lost everything and the animal groups rescuing
all the loose animals running around.

I cannot believe the loss of life up in Paradise and it is expected
to rise even more with cadaver dogs searching the areas burnt
to the ground.
I hope they have the same support we have locally.

I was not born when the bombing raid took place that
blew the town apart but my parents got married on
January 18th 1941 only 2 months after it happened
and went through the 2nd raid in April 1941.
Her parents were against it but she had just turned
21 on the 5th of January in 1941 so they could not
stop her. I was born January 30th 1942.
I guess it was the thought that they may not survive and
wanted to be with each other as long as they could.

I visited the mass grave in London Road cemetery
when I went over to see my Mum when she was
in Walsgrave Hospital after her stroke in 1970.
We lived in Seagrave Road so just across from the
cemetery. Both of my parents are now buried there
along with some other relatives of mine.
I am not ashamed to say that Coventry is my spiritual
home still and always will be.
Most Americans haven't the slightest idea what
war is really about, having never been invaded or
bombed.Their wars have always been overseas.
These wild fires are the closest thing that California
has to the destruction of war. and the states that have
hurricanes know about it too.
9/11 changed all that.
I think I had better get something to eat and take my pills
I am getting too maudlin. TTFN

Been to big Palmers ......saw the assistant Steph, who told me about those 3 books, and she took some of my books I'd given to the charity to read on holiday.   I was telling her about the latest book I was reading and she said she'll try to get it from "Works"   but if she can't find it I'll let her borrow mine.

I just had a portion of chips and a trifle.

It's not too bad out there.

Morning.

It's like us Margaret we've got a Victorian print of a church I used to walk passed going to school....I spotted it in an antique fair, along with another print of some fields with a cotton mill in the background....those fields I knew well.....also a painting of Ely Cathedral with a horse fair outside ....we bought it because David's family came from Soham, Cambs and his great granddad was a horse dealer and would go to the horse fair and buy horses....we've also got pen & ink sketch of Trinity Lane drawn in 1933.....it was demolished to form Trinity Street (which I've often had on here as my avatar).    We've also got two pen & ink sketches one of old Bishop Street and the old library & Cathedral in the other with horse & carts on the road      which we got from an antique art dealer who we've bought other things off.....he got to know what I liked and would let me know, he was the guy I bought the water colour  of Hadden Hall off which was painted by Lady Victoria Manners.   I just love them all.....I tell my kids  "Don't throw these into the skip when we've gone" and Rob says "Yep down to the tip they'll all go"   Smile

affraid Did I read correctly....Carole saying she wears a hat? .....ok ok you don't mean THAT sort of hat. Smile The only time I wore a woollen hat was watching Matthew playing football.

No Bond we're doing the big shopper tomorrow after we've dropped Benjie at the dog groomers.

Ok back later.....

Morning Bond
Asked Mark the same question about the plaque
that Marge talks about ,he said next time he is in
the City which seems like almost every day after work
he will also check ....
So its over the "hump" day so where's the hoover

Flipping cool this morning ,and only going to get colder
as the day goes on and the WIND picks up
Not a good thing with me having my hair washed and trimmed
as I will not wear a hat etc THIS DAY just having it done
Temps 35f right now but feels like 28f ,snow due to arrive
tomorrow around 3pm ,hopefully we will ONLY get a couple
of inches as they are saying ,the bulk will be further inland
away from the shoreline ... cheers

Spoke to Linda last night via telephone  was going to see
if  she wanted to go for breakfast tomorrow morning before
the snow arrives but sounds like she has a FULL dance card
two insurance men coming in the AM ,a 330pm meeting where she
works at her  daughter and SIL business ,and dinner with her cousin
,the only things that she says she may do is the insurance mens
visit if we get the white stuff ,so guess maybe NEXT WEEK confused2

Anyway away I must go ....Gilly's number ALMOST last night, 274 came
out his number of course is 723 ,so I would have gotten $41.50 for my $1
unlike the $291.50 last time ,I told him this morning CLOSE but no cigar

MORNING LADIES run run run run

I never lived there Carole.
My mother was raised there
and my grand parents and great
grand parents AND great,great
grand parents lived there.
They spanned over 75 years of
occupation at # 4.
My house is filled with paintings ,
ink drawings and photos of it.
It is my touchstone of who I came
from.
That's why there is supposed to be
a large brass plaque beside the vestry door
in memorial of Jacob Caldicott who
not only was a silk weaver but Clerk and Sextant
of Holy Trinity for many years before passing away
at the age of 82 or 84.
His son in law, Thomas Chapman took over his
church duties and when he retired , my grand mother
was allowed to live there after marrying and having
6 children (sort of a grace and favor residence)
with William Hitchins.
It was a toss up who had the most pictures displayed,
Peter with his Spitfires or me with my Priory Row pictures!
Thanks for thinking of me anyway my love.XX

Did a certain person call my name?
I am up M'lady.
Just made a BIG mug of Yorkshire
Gold tea.
Finally got my flu shot taken care of
and today after emptying all the inside
rubbish containers ,will put out the
big bins at the curb for tomorrow.
(they may be a day later as yesterday
was veterans day here).
I started up Big Red yesterday but he is
still dropping idle and stalling so I
will have to have him towed as its not
safe to drive.
I think I will pop in at the Gasser Brothers
and see when would be a good time to
bring him in.
When he comes back I can then take BB
in for her yearly check up at Hillside.
With that car its just a safety check really
to see if anything needs seeing to.

The Northern California wild fire death toll
keeps mounting with so many people unaccounted
for it probably will go much higher.
The Woolsey fire (the closest to us)has 2 known
fatalities so far which is amazing considering
how many acres have burned and homes lost.

There was a brief blaze along side one freeway
which could have been caused by a cigarette
thrown out of a car window. There are also lots of glass
fragments along the freeways and if the sun
shines on one in a particular way it could start a fire.
At least there is good CCTV coverage along the freeways
so maybe they will get lucky and find out how it started so
quickly.
Woolsey fire came really close to one of the prettiest university
campuses , Pepperdine . it is set on the side of a
hillside overlooking the ocean. It has one of the best
Law schools on the west coast.
With the winds dropping at night, the fire fighters are gaining
more containment but it will probably be weeks before its
really out.
Officials are already looking to the weather people to see
what kind of winter we will have as with burnt hills a lot of
top soil is going to come down in the form of mud if it
rains hard enough.
It seems that the little town of Paradise up north has
nearly been wiped off the map. We already have big businesses
here getting relief supplies ready to drive or be flown up there.

A sweet note is that when the first responders find a stars and
stripes flag,( Many fly them on private homes)they rescue them
and put them out front burnt or not so that the home owners
will find something to gather strength from when they come back
even if there is only rubble.
I think I need some more liquid, the air is so dry and not nice
quality yet so trying to stay hydrated. TTFN

wow that's about what I was
when Gil and I married in 1959 Vicky

All I can say after running to the shopper
is one word ..GLUG .... as it's raining pretty heavy
still .....

Picked up 2lb of sliced Italian cheese as it was on sale
today $2 a pound LESS than normal ,also got a pound
of imported ham and half of Turkey breast ,because of
the 25% off coupon what would have cost just over $20
only cost me $15

Came back and prepared chicken thighs with a seasoned
sauce that you cook in the oven in one pan  with veggies
so waiting on those to cook and made a pot  of chicken flavored
rice to serve them over
Friday Spencer and I will be eating shrimp scampi as Blaine
does not eat home Fridays ,plus he will not eat shrimp anyway

Susan loves Ireland doesn't she ?

I think Mrs B just wants to keep your nose
to the grindstone BOND:funnytvprog:

Marge should be stirring by now
Back later

I am only light these days Carole, lost a lot of weight when I was ill and I just haven't put it back....I'm 7st 4lb.

Avatar is one of the photos I took when we went to visit Susan 2 years ago and she took us to ......Shepton Mallet where the Mulberry (hand bags) factory shop is, and the owner did this fantastic garden.

Thanks Vicky ,you can just see one of
the Bridgeport University towers behind
it as that is the start of Park Ave that runs
quite a few miles all the way to the north end
of Bridgeport
The University was taken over by Rev Moon many years
ago and a big up roar back then as there was talk of
brain washing & cult following etc ,but he really made the university
a lovely place that faces right onto Long Island sound
and they took over and converted a lot of the old Victorian
houses down that end and those became student housing
rather than build too many new buildings ...

Light yer OK duck run run run
