White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits.
Days have flown by but I still feel like
I am pedaling in place with some things.
Things are gradually being cleared from the
Kitchen floor so I am pleased about that.

We were informed that we might see
some scattered showers today but I
don't think so , at least here locally.
Next rain is expected on Wednesday.

In the end I did not call the Gassers back
as I think they would prefer me to transfer
Big Red on Monday anyway.
It sounded to me like they were a little
behind on their customer list.
They are a small business so like to work
on the cars in the order they came in.
Some are big jobs and some are small
some take longer than expected so I
understand and am willing to wait as
they kept Big Red running care free for
over six months, no mean feat for a
33 year old muscle car!

Been adding stuff to my traveling
comfort box. I am clearing out all
the half used stuff and putting in fresh
items. All new make up and other
toiletries as well as over the counter
stuff that I use at home like
Imodium (I know they have it in the UK)
and sinus decongestants. I always take
a few out to carry with me in a clear plastic
bag in my handbag while I am traveling.

Alcoholism is tricky to treat at that stage and
professional Detox is recommended first and then
follow up with an AA program.
Trying to detox on your own is deadly!
It can kill you.
Some times the waiting list is long to get into
a program and that's the worst part when you feel
you want to take advantage of feeling like it
NOW!
I have a family whose son is in Detox now and
keeps pleading with his mother to let him have
just one drink to celebrate at the family Xmas
get together!
We kept telling them that one drink is never enough
as it starts up the brain wanting it really badly again.
So we recommended have NO alcohol in the house
at all and if he is so stubborn that he races out of the
house to get more, let him take the consequences
of his action including not letting him back in the house
if he has been drinking.
I think our group has heard every excuse they give a million
times and it always the same.
they will lie, steal and cheat to get their drug of choice.
They tell you what they think you want to hear and its
the alcohol or drugs talking.
They become the consummate con artist.
In the end they cannot help themselves, they get
organ failure and "wet " brain from so much alcohol.
One of our members brother died of "massive" organ
failure at 50!
That's why the relatives and friends come to Al-Anon to
learn how to live with these alcoholic people.
We cannot fix them no matter how much we try.
They have to want to get clean and sober first, then
its a commitment to sobriety by them.
In the old days they used to sign a pledge to not drink
for 30,60 or 90 days. but most fell off the wagon again.
For long time drinkers the brain has used like a short track
of functions and its hard to retrain the brain to think in
wider terms so when they face a big problem their
first reaction is to have a drink. We call it "stinking thinking".
They are NEVER cured! only in recovery. Its something they
have to deal with 24/7.
I will put the soapbox away now.
Hope you al had a nice day even if it was colder than a
Witches tit! TTFN

I like the photo Carole. great sky shot.

Been watching that Ambulance programme Bond, don't know whether you've seen it.....most of the calls are either dug or drink related.    One Guy had drunk 135 cans of beer in 3 days....he was moaning nobody wants to help him, he's been waiting 5 weeks to go into Detox.....ok we know it's an illness but he just seems to say "I can't or won't try to help myself while I'm waiting"  he was throwing up blood, really worried about it but still saying "Maybe if I have another drink I'll be ok"   and he only wanted to go into the detox place wasn't interested in attending   the AA.

Ok back later...

New avatar is old Bishop Street.....we have that on one of the study walls

Morning guys......and it's a grey day here.

Laura's been dropped off.....she's had a breakfast this time, must have been in a dash and too late to have breakfast.

That's a lot of accidents Margaret but some drivers do seem to have it in there heads they drive in the same way even when the roads are wet.  I remember years & years ago someone boasting that they were better drivers after drinking,  Mad    they wouldn't have  "They thought they were but others watching them would say different"

Don't know if it's the same now but I remember when David's Dad sold the place in Spain. in the late 80's...the nightmare trying to get his money out of the Country,  yes you can sell the place but they didn't want you to bring the money out of the Country, confused2  so he brought what he could out (a couple of thousand) and then .....him and some friends ended up smuggling the rest of the money out of the Country.

Ok back later.....

It gets complicated when people cannot commit
to a project 100% like the person in charge of the play
you are doing in a very short time Bond.
When I ran a primitive encampment for girls way
back when, it was a nine month commitment on
my and my adult staffs behalf ,all volunteers I
might add.
Having said that, I am sure it will all go off as
planned in the end.

Just to give you an idea of the chaos on the freeways
here yesterday morning.
In a four hour span (5am-9am) in Los Angeles County
alone there were 365 accidents compared to the normal
on a dry day in the same period of 93!
Mind you LA county is vast, you could fit four
UK counties or maybe six into it. The majority is
urban sprawl like London but everything comes in
by truck. The Port of LA is one of the busiest in
California so that has trucks moving 24/7 all
on the freeways too.
The sunny is out again this morning but more rain
is in the forecast for tomorrow or Saturday.
Decided to wait until this morning to call Gasser Bros.
about Big Red. I have a feeling they will want him brought
in on Monday which is alright with me.

We had a good turn out last night at the meeting.
Our leader was someone new to our group but a longtime
member of Al-Anon, Bless her, she is very hard of hearing
and forgot her hearing device but it did not stop her
being able to share her experience, strength and hope
with us all and make us laugh along the way.
The wind was blowing on top of the hill quite badly and
we thought that given the choice ,most people would have
chosen to stay at home but I guess when you are desperate
you will go anywhere to get some relief.
I always think about such things when I open up the room
even on holidays for anyone who needs a bit of sanity.

I remember most of my holidays growing up as being
days my Dad would blow up the worst and we all
ended up in tears, even on Xmas day!
I do remember it but do not have the feelings
about it that I used to, its all history and its part of
my life story.
Going to have another go at the printer today,
I am having a hard time entering my password
on the tiny screen so will use a stylus today.

Made a mess in the kitchen yesterday just
pulling out stuff to clean and put back or throw
away, its like an obstacle course in there.
Did some extra shopping on my way to the
meeting so I would not have to do it on the way
home last night.
Think I have said enough for now . TTFN

Oh a she....then she's losing the plot Bond, I thought she had to be a he because a she would know how to get you doing various bits of work without you feeling down.    Us girls could teach her a thing or too....."Oh Bond babe do you think you could just add this to your must do list....if it's not too much trouble sweetie"   littleBlond   with a smile and the touch of an arm.

Is Carole off sulking?     Tell her to stop being silly Bond or Margaret on FB.

Almost finished my book on John Bishop (crumbs he was 40 when he made it big time.....9 years slogging it out, doing gigs in front of small numbers )......Susan's having it after me..

BTW I put my bottle greens in Carole's washing the last time you borrowed them so you'll have to ask her where she's put them.

Ok later.....

I've just had a hair cut but only had to go on the landing in just my boxers
I was going to say lock up your daughters but its more like your grans as the construction lot are out on the town tonight

Morning.....and it's a bright morning here.       Been to the hairdressers......

Wow Margaret that was some down pour then.

Bond I agree with you for the guy to go off on holiday a couple of weeks before the performance isn't on.....he should be thinking about the play,   do you get paid at all for the work you do?

Got to go and pick Laura's  christmas present up just after lunch time, though can't be too long with the kids coming here after school.

Just had a nasty little storm cell go through here
a few minutes ago which flooded the porch flower
bed and the garage side flower bed of the house.
My 16 gallon garden waste bin was knocked
over as the water gushed down the gutter.
The sun is back out again now but it
sure felt like a steam train coming with the
sound of the wind and the thunder of the rain.

PostSubject: Re: Morning everyone..It's a new week...11/08/2014   Fri Nov 30, 2018 5:34 am

Nice soft rain is falling at last.

only just woke up after sleeping just
four hours.  Its been  a long time
since I had one of these nights.
I just read my kindle until I fell
asleep around 4am.
Its like my inner clock is trying
to reset itself.
I don't feel any the worst for it.

Tabbitha went out like a light and
slept most of the night at my side
while Jagger made at least two or
three patrols round the house between
sleeping on the other side of me.
He is a heavy little monster and walked
all over me to get where he wanted to
sleep each time!
I think what is happening as well is I
lowered the dose of my anti depressant
back to what it was before Peter passed
away. My emotions have been a bit of
a rollercoaster until I adjusted to the
lower dose but it feels like it has stabilized
now.
I was starting to get some side effects from
the higher dose so as my Dr. said just as long
as I keep taking it its OK.

Going to sort out my printer today as I think the
cats have dislodged a plug behind the printer
stand. Its not all the way out but its knocked
out the connection to the computer so  a little
detective work for me this morning.

There is a little break in the rain clouds so the sun
is trying very hard to peek through at the moment.
I think there is more to come though.

I don't mind driving in the rain as I learned to drive
during our rainy period here years ago. Its the other
drivers that scare me, not allowing longer following
distances or just driving slower for the conditions.
They all drive like they left it too late to get where
they are going so make stupid mistakes.
Its one thing to drive the speed limit on a dry road
but quite another to do it on a wet one.
Going to call the Gasser bros this afternoon and see
if I can get Big Red in first thing tomorrow morning.

Been catching up on all the books I have missed the
last couple of years. I am reading my second Patricia
Cornwall book at the moment. Its time for some
breakfast here and start my day so TTFN

Had one of those weird nights last night.
My bladder decided it need to be
emptied 3 times last night!
That and being woken up by Jagger being
on alert after hearing the water feeder
glug glug on its own. confused2

He shot off to check out what was going on.
Of course I had to get up and check also as
there could have been someone outside for
all I knew!
We all finally went back to sleep but I was
on mother sleep mode for the rest of the
night.
Gasser says he is behind after taking 4 days off
from work so to call back on Thursday and see
if we can get BR towed in then.
I only use them to work on BRs engine as it
ran for over six months with no problem and
this is only an adjustment needed.
The seat belts and sun visors can be installed
at the auto upholstery place where I got the
weather striping done . That can be done after
the new year.
All the other normal service work can still be
done at Hillside along with BBs.
Ian is going to call in an hour or so to get
passport details for the Virgin Atlantic club
I am now enrolled in.
He surprised me by already contacting VISA
and notifying them that I will be traveling with
my card for 10 days (his name is on my account)
He is also going to try contacting my other VISA
card issuer to do the same.
May need to give James a heads up about having
a hard copy of my travel information in hand
like last time, Xmas before last.

They are saying that this next rain storm is due
later today and through tomorrow.
Been feeling near tears the last few days but think
it may be a little anxiety about the trip.
I used to have full blown panic attacks years ago
so its improved somewhat.

Bond, you are brilliant!

Just had to stop as Ian just called and after we
settled the Virgin Atlantic thing I asked him about
my printer acting up so we have been trying to work out
why its not doing its job. Seems the cats may have loosened
a plug at the back so that's for a little later.
Luckily he has the same printer that I do so its an easy
process to walk through with him.
I made notes as he was just about to make dinner.
Its time I had my morning coffee and a scone to keep
my strength up. TTFN

Well what a horrid morning.......

Went to the dentist this morning.......so that's that for another 6 months.

Oh I suddenly realised last night I have been to the Ricoh  when Matthew's team won the league .....the teams getting these medals & trophies was awarded them at the Ricoh.    Rob got a medal for being the teams Coach.   So yes I have been ....that was the evening SHE couldn't make it because she had some ironing to do.   Of course we all know now that wasn't the case but she was meeting Donkey Brains.     We all thought at the time "Your son and husband are both getting awards and you're not here to see it"!!!!!     Anyway yes I have been there.....and of course David, Rob & Matthew have all been a couple of times to watch a game.

Wood End is a really rough area though Bond......what is it with kids these days.

I see some parts of the country are flooded.

Oh got to go.....David's back and we're off to Big Palmers.

Hi Bond......you know I've never been in the Ricoh, though we've got our names on the fans wall but I've not watched a game there yet....or visited the casino etc.

Good news then about Lorna's other glove Margaret.....they'll really help her.     You're a good friend.

Been nattering to Susan....had a brilliant time in Edinburgh, and they went around the royal Yacht Britannia, she said it's fantastic, another thing the government of the day decided to take away from the royal family....though Blair really had his eye on it himself.   nono

Susan said the decorator did a really good job while they were away.....she's sent him a text telling him how pleased they were with the work......today they had the carpet man in to measure up.   They've chosen the bedroom and dressing room carpet.

It's been a really nasty day wet and cold......stopped in.

I know it wasn't ANY ONES Fault.
It was just because my internet
provider was at 100% capacity.
It just makes glitches occur.
Its not as reliable as the telephone
yet.
Please don't go away mad on my account.

Well, I will start again.
The weather here is still nice even for November.
The sunny is out and the temperature is in
the mid 60s at present. To us it feels quite
cool after all the heat we had during the summer
months.
They are saying more rain by Wednesday
but again not heavy enough to do any damage
in the burn areas here. Up north I don't know
what will happen if we get a wet winter.
The death toll is at 88 so far and still about
200 unaccounted for. Our local fire only
took 3 lives.
The fires are all 100% contained if not out.
There are still hot spots that need watching.

The last "storm" we had dropped 30" of snow
on our mountains locally, so the skiers are
waxing their ski's already.

Lorna's other glove came yesterday so will
take it over later for a trial fit.

In about an hour or so I will be calling the Gasser
brothers to see when they can fit BR in as then I have
to arrange a tow truck to take him there.
After that is settled I am off to the cobblers with my
ankle boots and bag/lady briefcase.
Tomorrow it will be the alteration lady with the clothes
I need fixing.
I find that focusing on one big chore a day is better
for me than trying to get it all done in one day.
It also gives me enough time to complete other
jobs.

I will be doing a bit of Handy Lady over at Lorna's
sometime as she is very limited with only one
good hand. She need a small repair on her
bedroom mini blind. She also needs her furnace
filter changing which is in her hall ceiling of all
places! She hates to ask anyone to help her but
we don't mind doing the odd job for her which
does not need a professional hand.

How she handles cleaning out her fish tanks I
will never know and she refuses to let anyone
help her with changing the fish from tank to tank
when they get big enough to be in a bigger tank.
She has two of the most beautiful Angel fish in
one tank that are the biggest I have ever seen.
One is black and one is silver.
she knows her stuff but does not know when to stop.
I hope (fingers crossed )hat this post makes it.

They just found he's in early stages of prostate cancer
he's been given four options on how to treat it
I think he is leaning towards having what he said was *seeds*
Implanted into the cancer

We watch that every week.....the one thing which gets me mad about that programme it's not often they do buy a property, they often love one or more of the houses but then....nothing.     Now when we watch "Location Location"  the couples always buy and so you know which one they've gone for.

Er excuse me Carole what do you mean "Hope YOU didn't bump Margaret off the site"?????  YOU were posting also.  nono

Oh we got one of those the other day from, well supposed to have been BT , saying they were worried about our ...I said "Of course you are" and hung up.  scam a BIG scam.....you have to be careful with those "Just needing to ask you a few questions" Bond....don't answer anything.   Though it is getting fewer and fewer now that they're not supposed to do any cold calling.....but some still chance their arm.

Oh dear saw Margaret logged on....hope we've not made it difficult posting with us all posting.

Over here if I get those calls after I
have registered on the *do not call registry *
I either #1 depending on my mood give them
a hard time ,like I get one supposedly from
Microsoft security saying they have reports my
has been doing something or other
so one time I start wailing "ohhhh nooooo
not my computer " then I tell them to get stuffed and
HANG UP
#2 I let them tell me their line ,then say REALLY
how is that possible ,I do not OWN ONE and the line will go dead
#3 I will talk like someone slightly mental HEY
I heard that ....saying loudly "hellooooo who is it "
speaking over what they are saying ,and they hang up funnytvprog

Started raining here in the 40*s

Yes as you say they seem to be reading their script....I doubt they can speak much English. Though I have had "Didn't know that" to my "You're not supposed to do cold calling any more" so I then say "Well you do now" Smile .

Hi Vicky I have been told that only covers the British isles?
It depends what I'm doing if I've dashed to the phone I give them a ear bending
Last week I had one that left big gaps in what he was saying so i asked if he was reading this from a screen and there was a gap so i said the screen in front of you can you see it clearly another gap so I said is your supervisor behind you and the line went dead not giving me time to wish him a merry Christmas
