Sorry Carole didn't think you expected a comment from me seeing I already know ....you've told me about it before.  confused2

Glad your sons mate enjoyed his visit to London.

Yes Bond some dogs are really good at dribbling a ball about....better than some footballers.  Smile

Well the gammon was lovely.....still got some left over for a sarnie tomorrow.

New avatar is of the two knitted christmas snow friends which Susan's friend Anne knitted for her when she visited Susan just before Christmas.......Susan put them on the lounge window when she put the decorations up..

Susan & Matt's cake is a sponge one because Susan's not keen on fruit cake but all the others were fruit. Double cream or Carnation Bond?

I'm watching Luther.....also Mrs Brown's Boys and Corrie of course.

The cake is really yummy......she made 5 cakes in all and of course she's now back at school working and Jos is just turned one.     Busy life but still had time to make 5 christmas cakes

It was Benjie's birthday last night also, while the fireworks were going off him, Nessie and the others were born.....he's now 5.

White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits!
Happy New Year!
Jagger just woke me up by jumping
on my chest and it was when I said DIN_DINS
he meowed very loudly and insisted I get up.
They know I won't feed them until its at
least 7am and this was at 6:55am so what
could I do? confused2
I managed to get all my groceries in last evening
as the Grocery shop was open regular hours-
until 1am!
I was on the phone with Melanie yesterday afternoon
when Lorna tried to call me and ended up running
over the road like her pants were on fire.
She wanted to go to a family Italian restaurant at
5pm on the dot and I was not in the mood to eat
such a big meal after what I had feasted on over
Xmas. I know she was disappointed but I just
wanted to stay home.
Melanie says they had a quiet Xmas at home and
attended a support meeting. She says Jim is still
working his program 100% while she is sorting herself
out as well with the help of a couples councilor.
Melanie says she wants to come down and spend my
birthday with me. I cannot help feeling there is a motive
behind it but will keep my thoughts to myself for the
time being. She and I make a good team working together
to rid this place of the stuff we have already boxed.
Her truck will take a huge load in one trip.
Its time for the annual Rose Parade to start here.
As usual the city has a float entered so don't want
to miss that. TTFN

tired  Morning Bond ,I am wondering
if catmilkbowl  made his New Years resolution
as he left me alone until 712am after I
woke at 3am to make sure Blaine rolled home OK
funnytvprog

That brought memories back ,pub crawling on New Years Eve
Gil would go out but come back around 1155pm  and after
going round back first to the coal shed to pick up a piece of
coal would knock the front door at midnight and I let him in for
"good luck" the coming year I remember the first year he
did that on Bolingbroke rd as after I let him in he started
kissing me as we stood up against the front room
wall , well will not mention WHAT ELSE we did that day right there
Rolling Eyes but it left a memory for EVER implanted
in my brain of him

Rain stopped but saying we could get a passing shower still
during the day ,but its warm in the 40's

I see two incidents around the World last night ,one in China
one over there in Manchester
China one man ran his truck into people ,Manchester UK a man stabbed
people at the train station ,both men in custody confused2

Hope Marge had a good night ,its always going to be hard for us widows
me thinks no matter HOW MANY YEARS PASS ,but like I said
before I am trying to think on the GOOD memories

So back later have a boneless pork loin in the oven seasoned
already with Rosemary etc etc as the lads will eat tonight
Spencer has work tomorrow ,Blaine goes back THURSDAY what
a stupid day to go back two days then off for the weekend
Oh Spencer told me yesterday he put four snow tires on for
this lady in her 50's {he thinks} and she left him a note stapled
closed that said "for the guy who did my tires thank you "
inside was $50
He said that is the 2nd tip hes gotten the other was $4 for changing
a guys tire a few weeks back
That made all the hard work worthwhile I am sure as they like where
he used to work seem to give him all the hard jobs ,probably as
he CAN do them and does them RIGHT ,like his Dad he is a perfectionist run run

We have gas logs in our free standing
Swedish fireplace in the den.
Much cleaner to deal with than the real thing
and ready in a jiffy with a match.
It has the ability to look like a full set of logs
on fire or just a lazy flame and the logs just
glowing.

We had a very large wall mirror already installed
here when we moved in from the previous owner,
it is on the set back wall where the dining table
sits. It must be 4X8 foot and reflects the trees
on the street out front of the house.
We did a mini make over of the main bathroom
installing a similar size mirror over the sink and
counter top doing away with a blank wall that
held a small bathroom cabinet over the sink.
The rooms are so dinky that reflected light
really brightens them up.

Unfortunately the hallway down the middle
of the house when all the doors are closed is
like the black hole of Mumbi !
Been thinking of having a solar tube sky light
installed as a way to make it brighter.
Its not too expensive and is less trouble
than a regular skylight with the added factor
of a solar light at night time.

Cats have been very vocal the last few days,
talking back at me when I talk to them.

Woke at 630am this morning, made the cats
wait until 7am and promptly fell back asleep
until 8am. It felt very cold last night and the
next few nights will be in the 30s.
Even with the built in heating it is either too
hot or too cold so I must remember to close all
the vents into rooms that don't need heating.
Then I can set the thermostat lower and be
comfortable.
I will be up until the new year rings in as it
has been mine and Peters practice since we moved
in some 47 years ago.
We hear all the parties and cheering and banging of
pots and pans to welcome the new year in across
the city. We are all hoping that 2019 will be a more
peaceful year, a more gentler year and a more kinder year.
I even have a miniature bottle of champagne to toast
to the fact that I made it through another year.

January is always the hardest month for me as there are
so many dates that have meaning for me.
I think I am better prepared this time as I have lots to keep
me busy and I am in a better place mentally to deal with it all.

Today its grocery shopping as all I have in the house is
cat food and cheese and crackers!
I have one more can of soup in reserve and some
long life milk and tea bags and enough cereal for one more
bowl. then its down to the instant oatmeal packets! tongue
Here's wishing you all a happy new year.

That's the fire when it's lit ....yes you have a control on the front of the fire, turn it to how high you want the flame and put a match to the coals, imitation coal, and you have a lovely fire without the mess of having to clean the ashes or lay the coal/wood and paper to get it burning.    We do have some of the imitation coals and logs in the coal scuttle which we bought in 2014 in Shropshire, thought it would be perfect and we like it..

Had the fire done in 84.

You have to put a match to it looks nice

no Vicky you keep saying
I KNEW Why Graham stopped
and honestly do not remember badgering
him about not telling us why his wife was
in hospital
So guess you'll say now I have had a *senior* moment

Each to his own then ,I brought or invited him on
here in the first place ,so will let it go

Watching some news while the washingbasket washingmachine
Turns
Saw New Zealand celebrating 2019 so my cousins will be
partying

Get to it then Bond ,or though I can see you might
be easychair at midnight lol!

Well that's that....she had a big slice of the cake Becky made and she's gone off with the M&S cake.

The fire is one of those which looks like a real fire, you put a match to it and it burns like a real fire but it's gas.....all the cosiness but none of mess

Carole come on you know why Graham doesn't post any longer....he'd had enough of the badgering, questions asked about Hilary's visit to the hospital which he didn't want to answer, and to be honest Carole why should he it had nothing to do with us.....he didn't want to tell us and it should have been dropped.

Anyway Graham's had a lovely Christmas went on a mini cruise .......they're holidaying in LA in 2019 Margaret.

Well Sydney is welcoming the New Year in on the TV.

Had some super photos from Susan......been to the church, lovely place.   Great photos of the views from their hotel balcony also.

You're loving every minute of it Bond.

Finished my book.

That was nice letting them stay with Nessie
Vicky .

Funny I thought I was going this morning
talktohand  hey I HEARD THAT
I keep my car  registration and insurance card normally
in my glove compartment in my 4x4 in a black folder
So when I got my new card yesterday and went  to put
it away I could not figure out WHERE IT HAD GONE

After about 10mins I remembered it was in the special clip
that holds my *handicap * Sticker that hangs from my visa
easier to get at should the cops ever stop me and ask
"Licence and registration please" talk about a senior moment headbanger

That's almost like Susan & Matt....their mirror over the fire is 3ft round and heavy and the other one, which they haven't put up yet but had on one of the other walls in their old house, is 3ft long by 2ft. lovely mirrors though but as you say heavy.

Had to laugh at making a list but you then forgetting where you've put your list Bond.

Just heard from Susan....they've had an upgrade, bridal suite.....though the guy on reception said "Oh dogs aren't allowed in there" then he said "Oh don't worry it's Christmas" and handed over the key. She said great views of the sea, they've got a lovely balcony also.

Awwww that was nice for you, your kids singing "Happy Birthday"

Yes Susan & Matt always enjoy going to Cornwall.....though more often than not it's a camping holiday when they're down there.   Always bring back lots of Cornish Pasties.....also cheese & onion ones for Matt. Smile

Yes it only seems 5 minutes ago we were taking the decorations down.....in Mrs B's case it was.   Shocked

Almost finished my book....really good and I would have kept it if the author hadn't made some incorrect statements, it was written by an American who obviously doesn't know Britain, first of all this guys dies and his wife says to her son "On the way back from the hospital take me to the undertakers I want him buried tomorrow"  well in Britain you can't die one day and get buried the next.....and then the main female goes over to America to meet up with the father she didn't know, meets her step brother who says he calls his fathers secretary  "Sandra Dee" from Grease....the women looks puzzled "Oh of course you don't know about Grease" he says  "It won't have been shown in Britain".  headbanger    Of course it was.....see an American who doesn't know about the Country she's writing about.       So I'm not sure whether to keep or not.

ah  well we can't all be Cornish
My nan  was born in Reading ,where all the
Fox family resided and are buried ,but she moved to
Plymouth where she met Oscar Pengelly and they had
My Aunt Dorothy ,nan had been engaged to be married
but got *with child* my mum ,but he did a bunk
No one ever knew why or whether it was because she was
having his baby as she never talked about it or told
anyone who he was ,but judging from my mum's olive skin
and naturally tight  curly hair there was talk he was NOT
from the UK
Anyway nan LOVED Plymouth and Devon ,but always had
stories about Cornwall and her husband funnytvprog

Just had a lovely surprise ,Spencer called said he did not
know where he was going ,but turned up touting a large
Balloon and birthday and a plant in a tin bucket
Then he video chatted to his sister and he Blaine and her sang
happy birthday to me   ,she said it was only 84f there confused2

Had a call from Linda as well we are going out Tuesday instead for lunch

Thanks Marge glad your not getting ,jet lag

Watching the Pats vs the NEW York jets right now ,looks very sunny
up in Massachusetts ,overcast here along the coast

Anyway one more sleep before ushering in yet  ANOTHER year ,boy
it boggles the mind when I think it was not that long ago
I met Gil in 1956 ,and can still remember it like it was yesterday and yet
it's been 63 YEARS  Shocked

Ok back again ,is Bond still MIA

First, a very happy birthday Carol.
It isn't the years in your life but the
life in your years that count.

By the way I was born a lot earlier than was
expected as my mother went into labor the night
before she was to be evacuated!
I was just 6lbs 4oz. at birth.

I awoke this morning just after 7am so back into
a near usual routine.
(I did have a slug of Irish Cream in my Ovaltine
last night!)
Got to mind the furry babies across the road for
a couple of hours so Lorna could pop out and visit
a friend yesterday evening. She was back before
9pm so I only needed to go over a couple of times
and let them out for natures call.
My two have been very lovey dovey since I got back.

The only part I don't like is after I am home from a trip,
I have to remember where I left stuff before I went!

Luckily, I don't feel much of a jet lag as I have been
resting as much as I can.
Need to grocery shop today.
I keep getting a reminder that my computer wants
to up grade something so better sign off here.
Be back later.

No the Peachey family come from Soham near Ely Carole.....Ruby & Victoria moved to Cornwall to be Land Army Girls and worked on a farm....Aunty Ruby was married and her husband was in the Navy,  where he went down with his ship during the war so when the war ended Ruby & Victoria stayed in Cornwall on the farm....then years later the farmer just handed the farm and everything over to them....lock, stock & barrel he said they'd worked damned hard so it was only right they took it over.    confused2  so they took over the goat farm, used to breed goats and they sold them all over the world.....the boys loved going to see the baby goats and Susan when she was first around 3.    Grandma Peachey moved to Cornwall...Quenchwell, Carnon Downs to be with her daughters when she was around 80 odd used to still cycle to Falmouth she didn't die until she was 99 years

BTW Carole the photos were taken with David's camera so thank you but we've already got the photos.  Smile    but thank you anyway.

So you're off with your paint brush again Bond.       Well it'll give you something to do.

Oh David was born on a Sunday same as his daughter.   Awwww sweet......he did say earlier "I must have been born on a Sunday too" and I laughed.....but he was.

The poem Mondays Child is one of the fortune telling poems which
is most probably inspired by the folk lore poems of 1500s in England,
when it was believed that children's temperament can be predicts based
on the day if the week they were born
According to the many interpretations of the poem,
"Wednesday's child is full of woe" associates children born on Wednesday
with emotional empathy, it is solely based on the poem alone and its
superstitious background. Wednesdays child isnt really full of woe, though
it is notable that it is the only child who isn't depicted with a positive emotion.
In some other versions of the rhyme, fridays child is the one who is full of woe.
It simply varies according to traditions.

OK so watch out if I am FULL of "IT"

Monday’s child is fair of face
Tuesday’s child is full of grace
Wednesday’s child is full of woe
Thursday’s child has far to go
Friday’s child is loving and giving
Saturday’s child works hard for his living
And the child that is born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay.
