Morning.....and another bright day here.

talktohand  oh a Dyson hoover  is expensive over here as well Carole, we bought ours about 10 years ago,  it was around £350.

You having a busy day then Bond?         Mrs B doesn't smoke does she seeing how you seem to have your paint brush out often.......or is it just to keep you busy.

Yes I think of you often Margaret.

Had to leave off to talk to    on the  telephone  .....early or her to phone, she must be bored.

We had the bell ringers when Susan got married Bond....love the sound.....happy couple coming out of the church and the bells ringing out. Lovely.

Later......tap tap.....ding dong ding dong.

Morning Bond and there is only
one word to describe the weather
......           Y U K ......      ........

It will eventually stop ,but later today before
the temps drop and it will be VERY cold when I
go to get my hair trimmed /tidied up tomorrow

I need to go to the shopper  as well as they
offered a 25% coupon off deli meats etc for TODAY only
and so I did not get what I normally to on the weekend
,plus need a few more cans of catmilkbowl  food ,ah well
♪ hi ho ♪ hi ho ♪ its off to the shopper I shall goooo

Hope everyone had a good evening ,getting worse news
from the West coast up to 44 dead and 200+ missing
and only 25% contained
Some of our Red Cross workers left again yesterday
as they had recently returned from a Hurricane in Mexico

They also showed the fires edging towards the highway
with all the cars and trucks moving to the left as helicopters
dropped water on it trying to stop it jumping the road
SO VERY SCARY affraid
Your in my thoughts Marge even though right now your OK

Morning Vicky hoover  WHEEEEEEEEEE

Glad the pain in your shoulder has eased off Carole.   ......and that I'd jogged your memory.

That's what I've got Carole a Dyson hoover

Over here we're going to be taxed heavily on red meat....   we've all  been told to cut down on red meat so they're smacking high tax on it.

We had breaded chicken, mashed potato, leek & cabbage for our dinner.

Glad you had a good time also Margaret.

Pop the kettle on again Bond please.

Not sure if the get would have one big enough

So far they have BOTH  been in the new one and yes

Ok Bond what happened to Vicky

You would not know this morning by looking
out my window that it was anything but another
normal day here.
The fires are now among the worst in our States
known history.
There are still people unaccounted for but who may
have fled to a friends house outside the area
and cannot phone (as they are out) to let anyone
know that they are safe.
The high wind warning is still in effect so is the
high fire danger.
because of the high dewpoint we have had along the
coast and coastal fog our foliage has more moisture
in it than other areas.
In some areas the humidity level is under 10%
We have only had one wet winter out of seven
years of drought and that was the winter before last.

Seems the block thanksgiving was yesterday at Andy
and Joanna's house, I though it would be on Thanksgiving day!
Silly me, I was napping when Lorna knocked on my door
to find out where I was!
Hastily changed clothes and had a wonderful evening with
the best neighbors in town. Came home with a cream puff
when I could not eat anymore heavenly desserts.

Carol, you would not catch my cats going anywhere near a
carrier of any kind as they were trapped as kittens so
it only means one thing to them. I use cardboard ones
from the vet which they cannot see out of.
Remember to put an old towel or something in the bottom
as they tend to evacuate when stressed.
Buddy may take it all in stride , one never knows.

I have a full day of things I must take care of (as usual)
so I need to get started here.

So Bond you let Mrs B loose @
and your Crystal ball shows Miss Vicky
returning soon from *cough cough*

I don't think I mentioned that I SPLURGED
last week and bought something I have always
wanted but could never afford ....a DYSON hoover
It's GGGGGGREAT as Tony the tiger says

Anyway have made dinner ,I sliced up the r/beef I cooked
but was a little tough so I layered it into a pan covered it with
sliced onions and gravy and cooked it slowly so it melts in
your mouth and serving it with mashed potato baby peas and yams

Be back

Good morning all from Atherstone w bright sunny day here
It was a lovely night and a full night from 6:00 to:10:00 with the Army Cadets playing us in then Bulkington silver band playing songs from the war years finishing with Land of hope and glory .then food the place settings were just a knife and a table spoon you didn't need the
Knife .it was a big bowl of beef and dumplings stew that must have been bubbling away half the day as it was beautiful and the meat just melted .pudding was treacle sponge and custard really light sponge .all this time the silver band we're playing more quieter tuned
Then a singer doind more war songs th en the play about a young man from Mancetter and his family who wrote a poem from the front more band cadet playing and marching as they went off to wat some never retiring
And in the program of dead and those that did return there was a great uncle I didn't know I had
Right breakfast and its time for work

Hey there ,Marge wish I had seen that
about our blitz ,must have missed it Sad

Had Blaine rub more muscle rub on my shoulder
before HE left ,seems a "little" easier but taking it
careful no sudden moves or stretches or lifting

Buddy Loves his new pet carrier ,so hopefully
he will not fuss when he gets put into it on Friday
it came with stakes that you can anchor it out in the garden
as all three sides have open mesh sides so he can see out
if you wanted to put him out for a while ,I would not do that
though as that to me is teasing ,but its MUCH bigger than I thought
it was going to be

He must be in a lovey dovey mood today as he climbed
up onto my chest as i was laying on the love seat and lay
flat out putting his nose and head into my hand and went to Sleep funnytvprog

Any way have showered letting the hot water run on my back/shoulder
so watching NCIS Los Angeles right now and then I shall be off to BED

Bond any L & L's around

Vicky sounds like things are going along at Susan's new house
must be nice living in a small community like that ....

Speak tomorrow

That's the one thing which gets me mad when I'm reading about the second world war, anyone who doesn't know about Britain in the war would ....and do....get the impression that only London got bombed.  Mad

Just taking a moment while its half time
in the Manchester vs Manchester game.
It wont be 11am here for another hour
and a half so will do my I minutes silence
then.
Splendid documentary about the awful
bombing raid on Coventry on FB.
I had not seen it before.
Wish I had a copy.
I posted a " thought" piece as I call them
on one of the Coventry FB sites .
I was one of the lucky families whose
relatives came home from both wars.

The wind has changed so we are getting
more smoke from the wild fires coming
this way, it also makes it harder to continue
the water dropping planes in the air with
such low visibility .The big boys are doing
very low slow runs over rough terrain
so need radar and a spotter plane
to keep them on track.
The Paradise fire is now deemed the worst
in California history. There are still 32 people
not accounted for. Over 1.000 structures
destroyed.
No updated report on what our Woolsey fire
is doing so keep watching the news for
information.
Even in the house I can taste the wood smoke
with all the windows closed.
Wind warnings are still in effect but we are not
seeing any locally.
Weather conditions should change on Tuesday they
say. The fires will probably be smoldering for another
week or so.
Its seems at first reports that PG & E (pacific gas &
electric company) might be at fault again.
It seems there was an early report of a small brush fire
under one of their transmission towers and the company
reported a break in transmission at that point in the
early start of the fire as a possible point of origin.
Off I go to get something to eat and another LARGE
mug of tea. TTFN

Just been nattering telephone  to Susan......they went with Matt's Mum to the service and the walk to the monument for the minute silence.

The building work is coming along ......she was telling me they'd been to the fireplace shop to have another look at some of the designs they liked but wasn't too sure which one to go for, and how lovely the guy had been invited them to his home to look at the work he's had done and the different woodburners & surrounds.   Now that is service.

Ok back later......

Oh that's a shame about the place Carmen had found,  it sounded just the ticket.

I remember when we went to visit Susan (before they'd moved)  in the Nov and we went to the church service (the church they got married in and where they now live a stones throw from)  ....and then the very short walk to the monument, with all the names of the  fallen men from the village, to stand for the minute silence,   very very moving .....I expect they'll have done the same today.

Decided to start reading another Margaret Dickinson's book "Fairfield Hall"  instead.

Morning ,and I am STILL hurting {shoulder}
had the boys rub it again last night and tried
to find a place to lay in bed where it did not hurt
and was or seemed to get a bit easier this morning
but after sitting on here  its starting again
so may have to stay off my PC for a little

OH LORD they are saying there are some FLAKES
around {the white kind not  people}

Highs only going to be in the 40's right now its 37f
at 6am
Enjoy the service Bond and will catch you all later

Spencer recovered last night after throwing up three
times ,I THINK it was the pork he said Carmen and he ate
Friday even though he said he felt fine all night and up until
he started to sweat at work around 9am while working
on a jag
He must have felt OK anyway as he took himself off to Carmens
and slept over confused2

What Trump said was that he would allow disaster
assistance this time but there would be no more
if we did not cut down all the dead trees and find
a way of stopping the wild fires from doing so much
damage by not letting people rebuild in certain areas.
In other words giving them money to go away.
Of course if his hotel in Florida was smashed by
a giant ocean storm he would be first in line to ask
for a government bail out!
I will admit that we have more national and state parks
and lands in this state than about any other.
but we like it that way.
As I said even the Native Indians made note of the annual
fires mostly caused by lightning and camp fires not put out
properly (they used to burn what they could not carry with them)
and scatter the ashes. The LA area was given the name
"land of smokes" meaning you could see camp fire smoke from
every other tribe around.
Our Redwoods and Sequia trees need fire to force open the pods
with the seeds inside so they can germinate.
We have some 1.000 year old trees in or around Yosemite that
have withstood forest fires over and over again.
We are not scared of Trump as we know that we can be his
worst nightmare. Our state economy is rated as 9th up against
whole countries in the rest of the world.

that's me when I am sick just want to Sleep let the
body heal its self

Just took a shower and even though the sunny still out
at 4pm the wind is REALLY blowing as I can see the trees
bending back n forth

Watching BBC world news I see idiot Trump is visiting France

11 people dead so far Marges side ,and there are DOZENS missing
from the Paradise fire ,you cannot wrap your head around it
the reporter is saying Trump may withhold the State of Emergency
funds blaming California State forestry service ,cannot BELIEVE
I am hearing that ...
Enjoy your evening speak tomorrow

asked Spencer the SAME question
Pal ,but he said nothing that would have given him
THESE symptoms

Any who I got Blaine to rub ointment on my shoulder
before he went out ,so hoping HE does not come down
with anything ,and I just made myself a ham and cheese
batch that I wrapped in a bounty towel and popped it into
the microwave for 45secs so the cheese was melted ,yum

Weather today LOOKS nice ,but it's much more windy and
feeling cooler so happy to be home with my feet up watching
"The Curse of Oak Island " a very interesting program
that two brothers and a group of people they have hired
are drilling on this Island up near Nova Scotia looking for treasure
They think now Drake could be one who buried it ,and mentioned
Cornish tin miners who might have made this labrith ? of tunnels
hundreds of feet down and some have flooded ,so many men over
the years have died looking for it ,hence the "curse"

They have spent millions so far looking for what they call
The money pit

What did Spencer have to eat yesterday Carole?      It could have been something he ate then.     Hope he feels better quickly poor love.

You're right Carole people take on an animal and they think....feed it  (sometimes with food they should not feed it on as well)  and I've done my best for it....nothing more to do.   nono  not so.

Its certainly a terrible time right now Marge
just glad your ok

To add to my lot ,Spencer got sent home at 11am
said he was working on a car when he started to sweat
profusely, then came over nauseas and then threw up
all this before he had eaten anything except his morning
banana ,so they sent him home ,he undressed and went to
his bed and then got up and threw up again

I am hoping it's not the flu as neither of my lads will get
the shot after having a reaction to it yrs ago ,so praying
this is just a 24 hr bug
Just popped up the road for some ginger ale that I took the cap
off to let it go flat some ,also picked up a can of Lysol

Oi  vey why not ......

Some people do not look on their four legged animals
as family Marge and should never have pets

I shall be back

Fireworks never bother Nessie either, they haven't bothered Louie  (Matthew & Laura's puppy)  though Louie won't go out when the fireworks are going off....though in doors it doesn't bother him now Benjie doesn't bark when he's out just walks a bit faster to get back home quicker.    Smile    only barks when he's at home.  confused2    I doubt it was sitting with her going Oohhh and Aarrrrrr stopped your friends dog from bothering or not bothering when fireworks go off....they were just lucky.      Oh Margaret that was terrible about the poor dog being left alone outdoors while those fireworks went off.....and they thought it was ok.  Mad

Oh finished the book.....really good, you'd enjoy it Bond.

One year the people who used to rent next door
went out on July 4th and left a pitbull mix
alone in his "doggy Jail" (it was a fenced off
run at the side of the house nearest ours)
He has howling with fear as the fireworks went off
all evening so I went and sat with him stroking him through the
fence for a few hours until the noise started to abate somewhat.
I stayed outside not because he was a mean dog but because he
would have taken off in a second if the gate was opened.
It made me so angry that someone would not think of what they
were putting their animals through.
I did tell them the next day but they seemed to think that what
they had put their dog through was no big thing. confused2
I would have shut him in the kitchen with food and water and a
light on with some background music playing.

Well, still no containment on the Woolsey fire which is the closest
to LA .75,000 acres burned so far and over 150 homes gone
as of last night, as I told Carole the prevailing wind swept the
flames to the west and out to sea.
The Paradise fire further north has been the most devastating and
deadly so far. People were literally running for their lives, the flame
devoured everything that quickly.
there have been other small fires that were put out after burning
a few acres as well as the huge fires.
The wind direction is going to change today from onshore to offshore
so the particulates in the air are not going away real soon.

It seems that this is one of the biggest evacuations ever attempted.
The flames got within a few miles of Thousand Oaks where the
shooting took place. The poor County chief Sheriff was due to retire
on Friday but he cannot leave the new guy who has not been sworn in yet
to handle the double whammy on his own. So he is staying on until Monday
at least and maybe longer.
Carole has Hurricanes, we have wild fires and earthquakes. confused2
I am not panicking yet!
I've already been through several wild fires and earthquakes since
we have lived here so just keep informed and have a system of
notification though phone and internet connection which is
tested each month as we have an oil refinery on the other side
of the city that has had a few blow outs over the years.
(thankfully we are up wind of it so it does not pose any
threat to us)
I am going to go about my usual routine today but will not be
going outside a lot because of the air quality.

David was talking to a guy the other day and he was saying his dog goes up into a corner and shakes,  Benjie pushed himself against my leg last night while the fireworks were going off, while I cuddled and stroked him and talked to him,  no it's not illegal though you have to stop by 10;00 though New Years Eve they'll be able to set them off after midnight of course.   Something to look forward to  Mad    Rob was saying he's only heard the fireworks on the Monday and no other day.  confused2 .......yes Benjie barks as though we're under attack and he's warning them off, though that must be distressing to him night after night.

That's what I love about where Susan lives Bond, the church bells, you can see the church (where they got married)from their window.

Wrap up warm tonight Bond anyway.

I text Marge last night seems the
fires in Malibu are 20miles to her north
the way it was moving that is not FAR
but the way the wind was blowing they
were going towards the sea {Pacific},but
watching all those firemen trying to do SOMETHING
with the flames all around them and the wind blowing
was heartbreaking ,then they showed a big old dog
I believe that was in the town that was completely
wiped out,he was looking dazed and in shock I think
he was a little burned but would be OK a policeman
had hold of him ,guess his owners had gone and did
not have time to take him

And once more Sir G chose to log in and say nothing
yesterday at 1730hrs well to the REST of us anyway Rolling Eyes
Sorry to harp on it but it seems to have hit a NERVE Mad

OK news from Bridgeport ,NO thunder NO lightening
and the rain was not THAT HEAVY ,so guess we once
AGAIN dodged the

Sorry to hear about the fireworks AGAIN ,I guess
it would be too much to expect the cops to do anything
as it must be ILLEGAL surely confused2
The only good thing Vicky .Benjie responds to them
by barking ,and not how they made Saba after that
idiot let off a M80 when I had just let him out,he used to act
like he was in shell shock every time he heard loud noises
after cowering in a small corner and shaking it was AWFUL

I have been awake since 4am ,got up at 430 as I could not
sleep any more ,keep thinking about Tracie and what she is
going to do if a job does not turn up soon ,she picks up two
girls from school 4 days a week for $80 and she had a dog
she boarded while a neighbor went back home to Spain
for a couple of weeks ,but that is not paying her bills I KNOW
I every night that she finds a position ,and SOON

Any way going to drink my confused1 and I shall return some time later
New Avatar is one I got permission from Mark to post on FB
its two of his photo's he merged one of the Cathedral the other of some poppies
BEAUTIFUL tribute for Veterans Day

Morning guys......I say the same Margaret do stay safe.    As Bond said the footage of the fires look terrible, those poor people trying to escape,  saw a clip of one family driving through the flames they obviously made it.

Laura was dropped off here while Matthew and Rob went   headball  training.

More fireworks last night......we were not best pleased because of course they set Benjie off barking with us trying to calm him down telling him they were just silly fireworks and would stop soon.    It's not right going on night after night for over a week, it's as though they say "That was fun lets do it again tomorrow"
