Oh that's a shame about the place Carmen had found,  it sounded just the ticket.

I remember when we went to visit Susan (before they'd moved)  in the Nov and we went to the church service (the church they got married in and where they now live a stones throw from)  ....and then the very short walk to the monument, with all the names of the  fallen men from the village, to stand for the minute silence,   very very moving .....I expect they'll have done the same today.

Decided to start reading another Margaret Dickinson's book "Fairfield Hall"  instead.

Morning ,and I am STILL hurting {shoulder}
had the boys rub it again last night and tried
to find a place to lay in bed where it did not hurt
and was or seemed to get a bit easier this morning
but after sitting on here  its starting again
so may have to stay off my PC for a little

OH LORD they are saying there are some FLAKES
around {the white kind not  people}

Highs only going to be in the 40's right now its 37f
at 6am
Enjoy the service Bond and will catch you all later

Spencer recovered last night after throwing up three
times ,I THINK it was the pork he said Carmen and he ate
Friday even though he said he felt fine all night and up until
he started to sweat at work around 9am while working
on a jag
He must have felt OK anyway as he took himself off to Carmens
and slept over confused2

What Trump said was that he would allow disaster
assistance this time but there would be no more
if we did not cut down all the dead trees and find
a way of stopping the wild fires from doing so much
damage by not letting people rebuild in certain areas.
In other words giving them money to go away.
Of course if his hotel in Florida was smashed by
a giant ocean storm he would be first in line to ask
for a government bail out!
I will admit that we have more national and state parks
and lands in this state than about any other.
but we like it that way.
As I said even the Native Indians made note of the annual
fires mostly caused by lightning and camp fires not put out
properly (they used to burn what they could not carry with them)
and scatter the ashes. The LA area was given the name
"land of smokes" meaning you could see camp fire smoke from
every other tribe around.
Our Redwoods and Sequia trees need fire to force open the pods
with the seeds inside so they can germinate.
We have some 1.000 year old trees in or around Yosemite that
have withstood forest fires over and over again.
We are not scared of Trump as we know that we can be his
worst nightmare. Our state economy is rated as 9th up against
whole countries in the rest of the world.

Well Spencer seems to be sleeping what ever he has off
that's me when I am sick just want to Sleep let the
body heal its self

Just took a shower and even though the sunny still out
at 4pm the wind is REALLY blowing as I can see the trees
bending back n forth

Watching BBC world news I see idiot Trump is visiting France

11 people dead so far Marges side ,and there are DOZENS missing
from the Paradise fire ,you cannot wrap your head around it
the reporter is saying Trump may withhold the State of Emergency
funds blaming California State forestry service ,cannot BELIEVE
I am hearing that ...
Enjoy your evening speak tomorrow

asked Spencer the SAME question
Pal ,but he said nothing that would have given him
THESE symptoms

Any who I got Blaine to rub ointment on my shoulder
before he went out ,so hoping HE does not come down
with anything ,and I just made myself a ham and cheese
batch that I wrapped in a bounty towel and popped it into
the microwave for 45secs so the cheese was melted ,yum

Weather today LOOKS nice ,but it's much more windy and
feeling cooler so happy to be home with my feet up watching
"The Curse of Oak Island " a very interesting program
that two brothers and a group of people they have hired
are drilling on this Island up near Nova Scotia looking for treasure
They think now Drake could be one who buried it ,and mentioned
Cornish tin miners who might have made this labrith ? of tunnels
hundreds of feet down and some have flooded ,so many men over
the years have died looking for it ,hence the "curse"

They have spent millions so far looking for what they call
The money pit

What did Spencer have to eat yesterday Carole?      It could have been something he ate then.     Hope he feels better quickly poor love.

You're right Carole people take on an animal and they think....feed it  (sometimes with food they should not feed it on as well)  and I've done my best for it....nothing more to do.   nono  not so.

Its certainly a terrible time right now Marge
just glad your ok

To add to my lot ,Spencer got sent home at 11am
said he was working on a car when he started to sweat
profusely, then came over nauseas and then threw up
all this before he had eaten anything except his morning
banana ,so they sent him home ,he undressed and went to
his bed and then got up and threw up again

I am hoping it's not the flu as neither of my lads will get
the shot after having a reaction to it yrs ago ,so praying
this is just a 24 hr bug
Just popped up the road for some ginger ale that I took the cap
off to let it go flat some ,also picked up a can of Lysol

Oi  vey why not ......

Some people do not look on their four legged animals
as family Marge and should never have pets

I shall be back

Fireworks never bother Nessie either, they haven't bothered Louie  (Matthew & Laura's puppy)  though Louie won't go out when the fireworks are going off....though in doors it doesn't bother him now Benjie doesn't bark when he's out just walks a bit faster to get back home quicker.    Smile    only barks when he's at home.  confused2    I doubt it was sitting with her going Oohhh and Aarrrrrr stopped your friends dog from bothering or not bothering when fireworks go off....they were just lucky.      Oh Margaret that was terrible about the poor dog being left alone outdoors while those fireworks went off.....and they thought it was ok.  Mad

Oh finished the book.....really good, you'd enjoy it Bond.

One year the people who used to rent next door
went out on July 4th and left a pitbull mix
alone in his "doggy Jail" (it was a fenced off
run at the side of the house nearest ours)
He has howling with fear as the fireworks went off
all evening so I went and sat with him stroking him through the
fence for a few hours until the noise started to abate somewhat.
I stayed outside not because he was a mean dog but because he
would have taken off in a second if the gate was opened.
It made me so angry that someone would not think of what they
were putting their animals through.
I did tell them the next day but they seemed to think that what
they had put their dog through was no big thing. confused2
I would have shut him in the kitchen with food and water and a
light on with some background music playing.

Well, still no containment on the Woolsey fire which is the closest
to LA .75,000 acres burned so far and over 150 homes gone
as of last night, as I told Carole the prevailing wind swept the
flames to the west and out to sea.
The Paradise fire further north has been the most devastating and
deadly so far. People were literally running for their lives, the flame
devoured everything that quickly.
there have been other small fires that were put out after burning
a few acres as well as the huge fires.
The wind direction is going to change today from onshore to offshore
so the particulates in the air are not going away real soon.

It seems that this is one of the biggest evacuations ever attempted.
The flames got within a few miles of Thousand Oaks where the
shooting took place. The poor County chief Sheriff was due to retire
on Friday but he cannot leave the new guy who has not been sworn in yet
to handle the double whammy on his own. So he is staying on until Monday
at least and maybe longer.
Carole has Hurricanes, we have wild fires and earthquakes. confused2
I am not panicking yet!
I've already been through several wild fires and earthquakes since
we have lived here so just keep informed and have a system of
notification though phone and internet connection which is
tested each month as we have an oil refinery on the other side
of the city that has had a few blow outs over the years.
(thankfully we are up wind of it so it does not pose any
threat to us)
I am going to go about my usual routine today but will not be
going outside a lot because of the air quality.

David was talking to a guy the other day and he was saying his dog goes up into a corner and shakes,  Benjie pushed himself against my leg last night while the fireworks were going off, while I cuddled and stroked him and talked to him,  no it's not illegal though you have to stop by 10;00 though New Years Eve they'll be able to set them off after midnight of course.   Something to look forward to  Mad    Rob was saying he's only heard the fireworks on the Monday and no other day.  confused2 .......yes Benjie barks as though we're under attack and he's warning them off, though that must be distressing to him night after night.

That's what I love about where Susan lives Bond, the church bells, you can see the church (where they got married)from their window.

Wrap up warm tonight Bond anyway.

I text Marge last night seems the
fires in Malibu are 20miles to her north
the way it was moving that is not FAR
but the way the wind was blowing they
were going towards the sea {Pacific},but
watching all those firemen trying to do SOMETHING
with the flames all around them and the wind blowing
was heartbreaking ,then they showed a big old dog
I believe that was in the town that was completely
wiped out,he was looking dazed and in shock I think
he was a little burned but would be OK a policeman
had hold of him ,guess his owners had gone and did
not have time to take him

And once more Sir G chose to log in and say nothing
yesterday at 1730hrs well to the REST of us anyway Rolling Eyes
Sorry to harp on it but it seems to have hit a NERVE Mad

OK news from Bridgeport ,NO thunder NO lightening
and the rain was not THAT HEAVY ,so guess we once
AGAIN dodged the

Sorry to hear about the fireworks AGAIN ,I guess
it would be too much to expect the cops to do anything
as it must be ILLEGAL surely confused2
The only good thing Vicky .Benjie responds to them
by barking ,and not how they made Saba after that
idiot let off a M80 when I had just let him out,he used to act
like he was in shell shock every time he heard loud noises
after cowering in a small corner and shaking it was AWFUL

I have been awake since 4am ,got up at 430 as I could not
sleep any more ,keep thinking about Tracie and what she is
going to do if a job does not turn up soon ,she picks up two
girls from school 4 days a week for $80 and she had a dog
she boarded while a neighbor went back home to Spain
for a couple of weeks ,but that is not paying her bills I KNOW
I every night that she finds a position ,and SOON

Any way going to drink my confused1 and I shall return some time later
New Avatar is one I got permission from Mark to post on FB
its two of his photo's he merged one of the Cathedral the other of some poppies
BEAUTIFUL tribute for Veterans Day

Morning guys......I say the same Margaret do stay safe.    As Bond said the footage of the fires look terrible, those poor people trying to escape,  saw a clip of one family driving through the flames they obviously made it.

Laura was dropped off here while Matthew and Rob went   headball  training.

More fireworks last night......we were not best pleased because of course they set Benjie off barking with us trying to calm him down telling him they were just silly fireworks and would stop soon.    It's not right going on night after night for over a week, it's as though they say "That was fun lets do it again tomorrow"

I pray your not in any danger Marge
as the fires have reached Malibu and they have
Issued an evacuation there

Watching also that poor town of Paradise to your north
it's all gone and they are finding bodies of people in
their cars Sad
And watching the police chief in Thousand Oaks breaking
down talking about the massacre ,and now the wild fires
in his area
Awful ............. stay safe

Its a form of passive aggressiveness
is what it is. Emotional abuse can
be just as damaging as physical
abuse.
I always think that God is watching and
they will be judged at the Pearly gates
just the way I hope my father and his
mother paid for what they did while
they were alive.
The 2 mental pigmies deserve each
other but treating children that way
went out a long time ago.
Its good that they have other more stable
relatives to balance out their lives.

I am feeling a bit over whelmed by all that's
happened the last few days in the news.
Especially the shootings and now the new
wild fires that have sprung up in our State.

One fire is near Thousand Oaks where
the shootings took place and another is
burning unabated across the Santa Monica
Bay from us in the foothills.
People are trying to evacuate but the roads
out are partially blocked with traffic from
another fire.
There is also another out of control fire up
near Sacramento ( its not near Melanie)
The winds have been gusting as fast as
35 -65 MPH. Not only sparks but dust as well.

Edison says that because a judge found them
guilty of partly causing the huge Thomas fire in
that area before, they are saying that they will
be forced to cut off the electricity to some
areas where the lines go through the trees.
They have been trimming all the tree branches
as much as they can but it won't be enough
to stop sparks flying and you cannot use water
on an electrical line unless its turned off.

Here it would be a simple route around but up in
the Sierras its the old telegraph poles which
go all over the place in the boonies to get
power. They only have what we call Calor gas(?)
in large tanks otherwise and water lines , sewers
are only underground for the towns ,the rest are on
septic tanks. some get water from wells drilled
on their property. Melanie lives on an estate that
is a little more up to date thank goodness.

Its typical Santana winds , dry and dusty .
You have probably heard of the song that
Roy Rogers used to sing about the"Tumbling
Tumble weeds ", this is where they end up,
in California !
It started in the dust bowl of the 20s and 30s
and they rolled from the mid west plains to the west coast
over the years, seeding every place they went and
continue the cycle even today!

We don't get as many flavored crisps as the UK.
Its plain, BBQ, cheese and onion and salt and
vinegar for the most part .
I like very thin corn chips , they eat like a regular
crisp and are sprinkled with just sea salt.
I try to stay away from potatoes if I can but indulge
once in a while in a baked potato like bonfire night.
Its time I was back at work here , I just took a tea
break so its onward and upward. TTFN

Oh that's what I meant to put sour cream & onion. Carole.....now cheese and onion I like or just cheese crisps or salt & vinegar or even just plain crisps.....I do like the chicken flavoured ones as well though.   Not that keen on the BBQ ones though.

Nessie nearly always sees the new year in with Susan & Matt Carole....it's her birthday on new years eve....and of course Benjie and all the other brothers and sister.    We always say "The world is celebrating their birthday"  funnytvprog

$30 for the first time even though he did not at first want it)
He told Blaine last night he will do it again once the rest of the
leaves have come down ....

Vicky Sour cream & onion not cheese ,I also like plain cheese crisps
and BBQ flavored ones

That's nice Nessie will be seeing the New Year in
with her mommy and daddy

I am so tempted to adopt a dog ,but keep backing
out of it as much as I would LOVE another Sad

Ah well better get going be back later

Well the kids have gone......Rob said to Laura "How's Phonegate going on?"   I said "Phone gate....don't say she's had it taken off her again"  Rob informed us she'd had it taken off her a couple of months ago but she went into their bedroom and got it back, without them knowing but the other day they found out this had happened so took it off her again.....Rob said to her "So is that it just your phone gone or have they taken something else off you....like your shoes....or the slats in your bed" we were all laughing but I said "I can't understand your other Nanny & granddad not saying something because I would"  Rob said "Well that's a surprise" funnytvprog    but I would it's not right the way they treat her.

Ok back later....

Yes a grey day and they're saying it's going to  later so Benjie will be  his last one for the day most likely in the rain.

Kids arriving after school today for Rob to pick them up.

talktohand  sour cream & cheese Carole....I'll pass on that flavour.

I do love views of churches Bond.      funnily enough Susan sent us a text message saying they're going to Cornwall for the New Year, a place called Trewithian....lovely place, great views/walks....they'll be near where Grandma Peachey is buried  so she said they'll be   visiting her grave.    (they will be taking Nessie Carole it's a dog friendly hotel.....lovely hotel also)   she'll be taking photos of course which I'm looking forward to.

Ok back later......

Another view as I left the park yesterday
looking down towards what they call the "point"
where there is a small Lighthouse
You see many people walking the length every day
in fact Blaine used to do it after his brain Aneurysm

Its interesting reading just HOW the park was formed
back in the 18'00's as P.T. Barnum was instrumental
in getting it to how it has become for the public and owned
a beautiful home facing Long Island Sound here in Bridgeport

Hello Marge glad your ok except
for a few Mexican babooms funnytvprog
That's what happens to me when I eat Spanish food

Yes so sad about yet ANOTHER shooting ,the shooter was
a 29 yr old ex marine who it seems had had some run  ins
with the law and shot himself .

As to your Tabitha it's sounds like our Tabitha ,she had them all
over her the vet said she was having a reaction and gave her shots
in the office then a steroid to take in liquid form ,it helped then but
have returned so Spencer is going to have to take her in again

Vicky we have Sour cream and onion ,bbq and cheese well those
are what I like ,oh and salt n vinegar like I can hear Bond munching
on

Well it's 530 and the post woman is late again ,she is retiring next year
I heard ,she was complaining two days ago because it's pitch black
now when she gets here (normally it's 5pm) she wears a little head band
with a light on it ,she is only about 5' tall all you see is this light
bobbing along in the dark funnytvprog

Well Spencer just home it's his day off tomorrow ,and he is dropping
his Kia back off at the body shop as after he got it back he found
all these things wrong ,so it will be another rent a car
Speak tomorrow

That was probably St, Vibiana
or one of the mission churches.

Correction,
Shooting occurred in Thousand Oaks
an outlaying suburb of LA.
The investigation is being done by
Ventura Sheriffs Department
as they are an independent
investigator from LA Sheriffs Department.

Its to give those officers who might have had
people they know injured or killed.
(there were at least 3 off duty police officers
at the venue when it happened.) a chance not
to be involved in the investigation.
Lots of young students from the 3 or so
universities around the club/BBQ place.

Late on parade again I know but I
could not get to sleep last night worrying
about Tabbitha and the scab on her back.
She does not seem bothered by it, in fact
she has been very perky this last week
on the new canned cat food.
I finally fell asleep and did not wake
up until almost an hour ago.

I woke up to another mass shooting in
Ventura county ,the next coastal county
north of us.
The shooter had a legally bought Glock 45
with a larger than normal bullet capacity.
Still don't know why he did it but he had
mental problems that might be related to
PTSD. (he had served as a Marine at some point)
The Ventura County Sheriffs department lost a
29 year veteran and a Highway patrol officer
was wounded in the attack.

As you might guess it is being covered here on
every TV station.
The gun man killed himself in an office behind the bar.

Nice meal last night, we went Mexican and 2 of the ladies
with toe damage came. One wearing a walking boot
and the other with a soft fluffy slipper.
The lady with the boot had bunion surgery and 2 toes
straightened.
The other was just a broken little toe which not a lot
you can do with but tape it to the next toe!

I love that our sceptered Isle is the repository of
so much of our history even with all the bombing
during the war. So much damage was done to
Coventry history by the then council who
wanted a broad sweep from Warwick road though
the city center and out the other side for all the
motor cars it was building.
The Nazi bombing just finished it off.

I encourage Americans who are thinking of
going to the UK to go and see what history looks like
in the flesh so to speak. This nation is a toddler compared
with the rest of the world.
(which explains a lot!)
Dealing with a flatulent situation at the moment so
need to keep running to the loo "just in case" .
TTFN
