Yes it was Black Friday here as well Margaret so the shops would have been really busy,  another reason we went to Palmers,it wasn't too busy.

Yes you could see as we came back from Palmers how it was going to be really foggy tonight Bond.

Avatar is a painting of a street in Paris....we have a pair which we bought about 20 years ago.....we've got them hanging on our dining room wall.

I am sooo glad I don't need to go out
shopping today as it was mad enough on
Wednesday. Some stores were open all night
after being closed for the day yesterday.
Long lines out the door for a chance to get a
really good bargain, only the stores
have limited quantities so its bedlam.
Lorna and I had a lovely time at Teresa's
house, her grown daughter, Cindy does all the
actual cooking with moms assistance.
Got my usual bear hug from Dwayne.
And Cindy's 18 year old son is something else.
They did it buffet style this year which meant
that no one had to pass so many plates around
the table and find places for them.
I opened up the meeting room later but no one
felt the need to unwind so locked up and went
home. I filled my time reading my program book,
Its like a daily reader and its also indexed by
topic at the back of the book.

Its all contributions by other members over the
years and put into a book form with a daily
thought for the day added from many different
people like Helen Keller or Gandi
My favorite is Mrs. Roosevelt's very famous
quote ""Women are like Tea Bags, put them
in hot water and see how strong they get".
I was writing in my note book as well what
the pages said to me personally as we each
work our program in our own way.
Its "Take what you like and leave the rest."
as no one has the exact conditions as
anyone else.
Its like a form of meditation for me to sit
in an empty room in a very serene place
and tend to my soul for a change so its
never wasted time.
Its back to the grind today as I need to
put things back where they should be, like the
portable A/C unit, don't think I will be needing it
for the next few months so in the garage its
going. I can box up some more clothes and
combine it with some stuff that can also go
to the Sally Ann.
I have also been catching up on things like
returning Lisa's baking dish from Labor Day!
I put a box of chocolates in it with a note
and left it on the doorstep.
I also donated three worn out Stars and Stripes
to the local ACE hardware store as they collect them
for the Boy Scouts to burn in a special ceremony.
You NEVER throw old flags in the rubbish here!
I just have some old meds that I need to dispose of
safely now and I think the local sheriffs sub station
will take them. Its either that or a plastic bag with
wet cat litter in it so it destroys the meds and makes
them unusable.
I got rid of all Peters preloaded syringes from his
MS two years ago. Its a shame because it had only
just been opened but nowhere to donate them to.

Rain is all gone now so at least the amount that fell here
washed all the particles out of the air.
Its time for breakfast here, I just fed the cats their
second small can of the morning as they licked
their bowls clean and asked for more!

Of course he is Vicky ,but they left the
thing in his arm Wendy said just in case
I guess maybe with him having problems
when on dyalisis  ,so many times because
his veins kept closing ...

Kids in this generation have NO IDEA
I get the same reaction when talking about how it was when
I grew up

Our first rent on Bolingbrook rd had only the open fire
in the back room and you had to go a step down
into the kitchen out the back door and the outside toilet
was the length of the kitchen outside where the tin bath
was kept on the back of the door ,no such thing as central
heating even where I was born ,it was extra blankets old
army coats black iron irons wrapped in old sheets that
Had been heated on the stove or later a rubber hot water bottle
A different world completely

We're back.....it's chilly out, though it is Nov so we should expect it.      Went to little Palmers  for nibbles.....then a look round and I got a sweater and David got 2 roll neck tops.

Had to stop Rob turned up before the kids did......then the kids came in.....I was telling Rob about the book I'm reading and we were all laughing because John Bishop was saying when at 10 where he lived with his family in Liverpool the council knocked all the houses down so they were re-housed in Cheshire and he was really thrilled to have a loo down stairs as well as up....no putting your coat on to walk down to the bottom of the yard, and they also had a serving hatch between the kitchen and the dining area....I was saying how when we came in here they hadn't put the serving hatch in and we got the builders back to put the serving hatch in, a year later....because we never used it, we bricked it up.  funnytvprog    then of course we talked about when David & I were growing up.....not having loo paper but newspaper cut into certain sizes and put onto a piece of string in the loo at the bottom of the yard.....and just an open fire, no such thing as central heating, in fact the two houses we rented when we first got married didn't have central heating we only had that when we bought our first house in Bulkington.     The memories just made me go into fits of laughter....Rob said "She's off"  Smile

Isn't Henry dried when they pick him up?   He should be....  Benjie is showered and clipped and if his nails need clipped they'll do that, but it costs us £35.

As to your BIL doesn't he have medication to stop his body rejecting the kidney?

Ok back later......

Oh "Hi Bond"

I am DONE ,washed two washingbasket
went to the shopper bought some wild bird seed
as well as the poor things are going crazy looking for food
There is a bush that retains its leaves in the winter and when
the sunny came out they were all sitting FLUFFED up must have
been over 20 sparrows and the Blue Jay were sitting in another one
that hangs over my shed ,they must have had babies as I counted
EIGHT all sitting on my deck railing when I put some seeds out
Besides Blue Jays and Red Cardinals Finch and some others the Wood peckers
were out looking for the suet cakes I normally buy and put out in
these little cage things that hold the suet squares ,so picked up three
of them
My good deed for Nature all done I saw my homeless man I had made
him up two portions of dinner from the left overs ,but when I asked
if he had access to a microwave where he stays ,he said no ,so I bought
him a coffee and sausage MCMuffin from Mc Donalds as I pass them on the
way home ,and told him I would heat the dinners up and bring back either
later today or tomorrow
He sat on the curb and ate what I gave him today so I KNOW he is out there
looking for food or $$ if others give him any to BUY food not to feed any "habit"
So my 2nd good deed ,and now I have some things in the dish washer
that I RARELY ever use ,and I am DONE as I AM KNACKERED
I am beginning to think its my HIP that is making my legs ache ,hope
I am wrong ,have to call the EYE surgeon next week and make an appointment
for him to do the cataract in the New Year when Blaine can take time off

On THAT ♪

I will be back later on my tablet from the COUCH ...can I have a drink
please ANYONE run run run

Told the pilot to get his wheels down
Vicky, he signaled back OCH AYE ,so must have been from Scotland
My mate Maggie Scott just got back from there but
her and Jim drove up from Coventry

Sunny now here but bitter cold although they are saying not quite
as cold as yesterday and THE WEEKEND will have us at
where we should NORMALLY BE in the 50's ,how CRAZY is that
from below freezing to "balmy" temps

Been up since 430am ,got up to feed Buddy as I was planning
on staying in bed a while when I heard this THUD ! ,got up to see
what had fallen and could find NOTHING confused2
So by then I was WIDE AWAKE Shocked so got up and have
my washingbasket washingmachine in
Going to run to the shopper in a while as I need dry cat food
and another Gal of MOOOO

Blaine off work till Tuesday ,but Spencer returns tomorrow so he will be
home tonight to sleep

I see yet ANOTHER in a Mall in Alabama ,,,WHY !!!
they killed the shooter ....

Wendy text they just dropped off Henry for his bath ,he gets bathed
nails clipped and ears checked for £20 and her and Derek wait in
a cafe where she knows the owner until he is ready ,that would never happen
with Saba as they had to make sure he was properly dry being long haired
guess its because Henry is short haired he takes a shorter time

Derek it seems has a "thing" left in his arm just in case the Kidney fails
as I asked her why he still had it after getting the new kidney
its working OK but Dereks veins needed opening more something
that he had problems with when on Dialysis....

OK the sun is STREAMING through the bay window but don't let that
FOOL you

I will be back later

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE

Morning......

No frost this morning Bond so hopefully it'll not be too cold out there.....though David said it was cold but obviously not as cold as yesterday.      Still wrap up warm when you go out though.....and I'll do the same if  we go out.   .

Susan & Matt are at the airport waiting for the    to land for them to go off for the weekend to Scotland and the plane is circling over head but not able to land because of the fog  confused2  .....they're coming back Monday.....if the plane ever lands at Bristol.

Finished my book....it is good but I'll not be keeping, so it'll go to the Charity shelf....going to start reading John Bishop's Autobiography......I bought this book about 2 years ago,    asked if she could borrow it after I'd read it,  hopefully she's forgotten, I will not be mentioning it to her.

Thanks for the breakfast btw Bond.

Oh btw are you watching "I'm a celeb get me out of here" Bond?     What is it with the media and Holly Willoughby .....they think she's wonderful, doing a brilliant job   I don't think she is......and she's certainly not got a rapport with Dec.    And don't get me on about Noel Edmunds....they bring him into the camp and he winds everyone up,  we were all saying what a lovely group of people are in it this time....and now he comes in and you can see the trouble brewing because of him. I didn't watch it at all last year but this year I thought I'd give it a go.

Well dinner was good every body ate
except Brittany who has still to show up
Blaine already gone out ,Spencer just showered
and Dave wants to leave on the 312 pm train
which will get him into New York just before 445
and then he will take the underground to Brooklyn

Marge I have this vision of you in your Union Jack
bow tie and nothing else

Guess I have to also thank Gil as if he had still been
alive by Dec 17 ,the insurance money he left me would
not be here that has been making it a little easier for me
these last 4mths not having to worry about where my
next dollar was coming from ......

Brittany came had a small plate of my food and stayed
almost 2 hrs talking ,now she has to go to her mother's

Anyway have a good evening you all

Just want to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving
from the left coast of the USA.
I have decide to wear my union jack bow tie to
Teresa's (well, there were Brits there you know!)

I have always thought that the UK should have a
Thanksgiving for seeing the back of those nasty
Pilgrims.(only joking).
I have an awful lot to be thankful for even
without Peter being here.
He left me with so many memories of the
fun we had and I am secure financially.
I give thanks for all the wonderful people
who have given me strength since he
has been gone.
Don't know what happened to the wet stuff,
think it all went inland as the ski resorts
have had enough snow to open this weekend.
I presume that it was gentle steady rain that fell
on the burn areas.
No reports of any problems this morning.
Lots of crashes on the freeways though,
silly idiots don't know how the drive
when it get slick after the first rain.
I must dash as I ned to jump in the shower
and pick out what I am going to wear
(other than the bow tie).
I need to be ready by 12 noon as we are to
pick up the fresh baked rolls on the way.
I just hope that Lorna does not want to drive with the
top down!

Yes it was a frosty morning Bond......not that warm out so it's wrap up when you go out.

talktohand  Oh I don't blame you Carole not loaning David your 4x4  with him not having car insurance or being on your insurance......not a risk worth taking, only Susan is on my insurance, and David of course, but neither Steve or Rob could drive my car and I know they're good drivers.

Ok back later....... .

Any chance of some melted cheese done
in vinegar on top of my crumpets Bond ?

Did you ever have that? my Nan would cut up some chunks
of cheddar cover with malt vinegar and bake in the oven
until the cheese melted ,then spread the cheese cheese on toast
TANGY tasting UMMM guess that is WHY I love vinegar and  cheese
OH BOY YUMMY memories flooding back

Well its COLD 18f {-7c} but feels like 5f {-15c} ,and I have to :driver:
David to Stratford for 8am as he told me when he arrived
last night at 7pm that he is running the Thanks Giving race
there ,its only 3 miles but was not expecting him to do that
He wanted to drive my 4x4  over himself but even though
he keeps telling me he is a good driver and never had an accident
I cannot in good faith do that as #1 he is not on MY insurance
and being as he does not OWN a car he does not have car insurance
so GOD FORBID if anything happened talktohand
So I have the turkey breast in NOW along with the cauliflower cheeses
will turn them down when we leave and they should be OK by the time
we return
Also seems even though Spencer slept over Carmen's last night
he will be returning this morning to eat something HERE and he said Brittany
will be stopping by as her mother is serving her family meal at 230pm
Blaine of course ALWAYS eats HERE first before going out to others
houses ,so I have MORE coming than I expected  confused2

I could have done with NO ONE this year just does not seem the same
with Gil not here

So I will wish Marge a Happy Thanks Giving
and I will see you all later as David plans on leaving around 4'ish

Heard from Linda we are getting together soon

We've not had any problem with the lettuce over here......thank goodness.

Twiglets.....haven't had any twiglets for ages,   I'll put them down on my shopping list for next week.

Chocolate covered cherries Bond.....did you melt the chocolate yourself and dip the cherries in.       You're so clever.

Been nattering to Susan for ages and then  .....so it's nearly time for bed.

Some day Carole I will find a way to get to you.
I think we would have a good time together.
Hang on to that thought.

Its a shame that Barb cannot get any free legal
advice with this situation. I know the laws may be
different in your state but as I said this man is a
pervert which is a serious situation.
He has no right the enter the tenants apartment
without their permission for anything but an
emergency repair.
He probably would not do it to a man now would he?

In this state one landlord was convicted of gross
mismanagement of apartments that had hovel
type conditions that did not meet city codes by
a mile. It depends if this one is running under
the radar(ie. illegal rentals).
Renters who are in a low income bracket tend
to be the worst victims because they are afraid
of revenge on them for reporting the pigs who
take the money and blow off the tenants.

Yes its USA wide about the Romaine
lettuce Marge ,they are saying even if you
HAVE some at home and you did not get
sick to THROW it OUT ....I LOVE Romaine ♥️
Cannot even have the bags of washed mixes
I like "All Veggie" as I see that ALSO has some
Romaine in it

Too bad we are so far away from, each other Marge
as we could hang out together some ....
David called said he is going to be later than he thought
and could I leave the door unlocked and he will let himself
in ....
He knows I go lie down early ,although I have been staying
up later than normal ,but seems I tend to ZONK OUT
then become more aware as I spoke to Blaine last night
around 730pm told him to let me know what he thought
about dinner ,said this morning "well you never told me"
he replied I TRIED you were OUT COLD Sleep
but then I wake up around midnight confused2

Marge that is the problem she is NOT section 8
cannot get into it ....

As to WHY they had no power Vicky ,seems he decided
to install Solar panels on the building {his office is on the first floor
as he is an insurance agent} but the company he employed
did it wrong and the Electric company here in Bridgeport
U.I. CUT the power siting dangerous fire risk until it was
wired up RIGHT ,as far as I know they STILL do not have solar
power
During the time Barb and her neighbors were with out juice ,HE
hooked HIS OFFICE up somehow so HE had power, had a generator
hooked up to Barb and the 3rd floor tenant that he ONLY ran so many
hours a day it seems when they were at HOME ,that is WHY all the
food went bad as the fridge and deep freezer were OFF for HOURS
while Barb and the other lady were at work
Plus he only gave them ONE lead each ,so all she could run was her
Fridge {or THOUGHT she was } but they of course cannot prove
he turned OFF the Generator after they left {why again I gave
her the security camera } after the fact unfortunately......

Section 8 housing as its called here
is dicey at the best of times and
usually run by the worst of people.
There should be an agency to report
him to if he is using Landlord access
as an excuse to ferret round in her
apartment.
There should be a rental agreement that
was signed stating the rules and degrees
of access. He sounds like a pervert to me.

The small claims court handles
cases up to $7,000 I think.

Well pleased with what I got done yesterday.
The Gasman cometh on Dec 11th to relight my
pilot light. I only need a small space heater at
night just to keep the room comfortable.
During the day the temps are OK.
Have to phone Gasser brothers on Tuesday to
take Big Red in(under tow).
Stopped at British Imports and picked up
some Twiglets and Mince Pies for my contribution
to the feast tomorrow (along with a bottle of wine).
I went by the Chefs Toys place but it was mid afternoon
by then and truck traffic was busy coming off the freeway
right next to it so no place to park.
Lots of wholesale places or distribution centers in that
area of town.
I shall try again later.
This morning its a couple of internet orders and a visit
to the Verison store to see if I can get a iphone charger
for BB.
Tomorrow we are having an early dinner at Teresa's
so I will have enough time to go and open up
the meeting room. There is no meeting but I offer a safe
place after some people have been spending the day with
relatives who drink too much and upset everyone.
The least I can do is offer support so they can go home
a little less stressed than when they came in.
I spend about 2 hours in case someone shows up.
If they don't, it means they have been able to handle
what ever happened that day. It is my way of giving thanks
for all the good in my life.
I don't mind spending the time as I would only be watching
TV if I was at home. I take a program book and read pages
and make notes of things that I need to incorporate
into my life. Its like giving myself a meeting!

Big warning here about Romaine lettuce in California.
We are being told to throw away any we already have
as it has caused the first cases of "Deli belly" in
this state. We think its from the same places in
Arizona where the other lettuce came from that
caused big problems in other states.
Will stick to butter lettuce for now as its grown
hydroponically here.
I think that's all from here for now so its time
for another mug of tea to take my pills for the day,
Hope your day went well.TTFN

Landlords over there do seem to be a law to themselves.....heard about your own landlady and the essential work she doesn't do.      How was it that the electricity went off Carole?     As for him walking into Barb's place when she's in her nightwear.....that's just not on, should have called the cops.....can't have a strange guy walking into your place like that.

Bond's enjoying himself I see.

First off I know the lady who lives
above Barb ,she was planning on suing
him as he never compensated HER either
when they had no power all that time
Plus another tenant said he was getting too much
into her business ,but she has since left ,and
he tried to tell her new landlord that she had
TRASHED his apartment ,of course she had not
I told Barb to document HER place just in case

He also has been coming into her place with out
asking ,a couple of times when Barb was still in
her night wear ,I had a small camera that you set up
so you can catch people doing this and gave it her
,so she has proof of him entering with out permission
if he does it again now she is back working

Thats what she has to find out about ,what's he suing her for
and the amount ,I thought the MOST you could sue for in small claims
was $5000 ,but how could he be ANYWAY with the case
regards the rent not even heard yet ,she said the court will try to
work out some kind of plan to repay him or give her x amount of
time to vacate and find a new place ,but as of last night she
said she had had enough and would be looking for somewhere else

Oh so you've spoken to all his other tenants Carole,.     Has he told Barb why he's sueing her? $10,000 seems a lot, surely the case will be thrown out anyway and he might have to pay her court fees. confused2

Yes it's 39f  out Bond so it's stay in and keep warm.....poor David has to go out to take Benjie for his walk

Went to big Palmers ....had cheese & tomato toastie and a trifle.   Saw Steph and lent her the book I'd read....I've told her not to rush and not to panic ....she was "Oh I'll start reading it straight away and get it back to you and I'll really look after it"  talktohand   It's only a book....but I did think "Crumbs she's so like me" because that's what I'm like"  so I said "Steph stop worrying"

Well there you go
read the post too fast I guess

Vicky I think after her looking after
Gil all those months I know what kind of person
Barb is ,someone who cannot catch a break no matter
how HARD she works
I have mainly helped her out by buying some groceries
not $$$
She was out sick a few weeks ,I understand about the landlord
needing to pay his bills ,but he has ALREADY TAKEN her to court
{her court date is Dec 4th I believe } for THAT ,so WHY now this
NEW case for $10.000 confused2 no he is NUTS ,and his other tenants
in the two buildings he owns where she lives all agree

Have to try and reach David to see when and HOW he is getting here

Carole Bond posted...."Well its Wednesday yet again I think there is two Wednesdays in a week"   he didn't say two Wednesdays a month. confused2

How long has Barb not paid her rent?    To be honest Carole a private landlord has to continue to pay their mortgage, that doesn't stop because their tenant can't pay their rent so a landlord can only allow this to happen for a certain time before they'll give the tenant notice......fairs fair Carole But don't you give Barb any money *to help her out* you don't know this person really.....don't get taken in.

You'll enjoy your grandson being with you.

BTW I'm not seeing the rose.....I'll have to go on David's iPad.

Only TWO Wednesdays
in a MONTH BOND
Don't know what calendar YOUR looking at
funnytvprog

Boy the weather man has a LOT of things
going on today ,top of the list is the very early
Arctic cold wave that starts later today ,hes saying
9f {-12c}now ,considering we should STILL be around a high
of 50f { 10c}THAT is a brutal forecast
We are right now at 545am feeling like 26f {-3c}

David is supposed to be arriving today , & I have the Turkey breast out
to defrost ,and will be making my Cauliflower Cheese after I come back
from the newspaper store as I want to play my lotto numbers for two days

I cannot tell you HOW MANY TIMES in the last four days my
old clock number almost came out,6 - 4 - 9 came out TWICE
as 594 which for a dollar would have been $41.50 headbanger

Marge looks like she has showers her side ours could be a few snow
flurries before it turns mainly to all rain
Warmest temps around down with Tracie in the 80's

Oh Barb's CRAZY LANDLORD who is already taking her to court
for when she was not working and could not pay her rent
sent ANOTHER sheriff around last night it seems ,he is now suing
her in small claims court for $10.000 confused2
She finished her orientation at the Nursing home yesterday so now
has to get on the weekly schedule ,plus another of her old lady patients
two daughters want her to look after their mother privately, but I think
she would do better to get into the home full time ,not so much travel
time and easier to get reach on the bus

She says she is going to move as the Landlord is NUTS
I told her to check to see if she could SUE HIM for HARASSMENT
He has never reimbursed her for when she had no electricity and
all her food went bad ,THAT all his doing

OK I will speak later have a good one everyone

MORNING LADIES

I bet James really loves that Bond.

Well did the big shopper so stocked up again......it's freezing out there.
