Morning Marge ,couple of hiccups then
your DMV rules are different to CT  we do not
require the eye test or taking a drivers test after
a certain age
As to jury duty  ,still being a Brit I do not have to do that
either ,we get the notice but just have to state we are
not citizens and get excused
Tracie the only one who became a U.S. Citizen in order to get
Gil back here

I am watching all the hulabalo on Brixit as well and also
see four more US persons got killed yesterday two soldiers and two
civilians  in Syria  ,and is Trump still planning on pulling the troops home ?

I hope all's well with Melanie Marge don't see her posting much
on FB

I have been looking for years for my other two school mates
Gillian Connolly and Pat Locke ,think I may have found Gillian
who now lives in of all places PLYMOUTH
Waiting to see if she answers me but it looks just like
her from her  picture isn't that exciting have not seen her since we left school

Be back later

Could have seen that coming from a mile away.
What is fun as an adventure is not the
same as living with it every day.

Just hope she is not expecting to put her family
back together again after all she has put them through.

I hope that HRH is banned from driving.
Do you know that the Queen and Prince Philip do not
need a driving license?
Who is going tell him that he cannot drive again?
Only the Queen it seems. No one else out ranks him!
( I wonder if anyone knew he had gone outside the
estate)

These old guys think they can handle things the way
they did at 30 or 40,they don't realize that their
reaction times have slowed down.
It was only when Peter damaged MY car in a parking
lot at the post office that he knew that was the end of
him driving. He also damaged another vehicle.
His father only gave in when he went up an off ramp
onto the motorway! Luckily his passenger saw what was
happening and he was able to reverse back down onto
the main road.

I suddenly have two items to deal with, one is a notice for
an routine eye exam but the DMV won't accept anything
older than six month old tests so maybe I will have to renew
early like September.

The other is a Jury summons, It is for a part of LA county that
I would never go into normally but I have to register on Monday.
by phone and there is no way of getting out of it because of
age, only a medical condition. I can have it transferred to
another court or I can get it postponed but there is no way of
being taken off the rolls unless you die!
If you are under 70 you need a Dr. certificate so at least they might
be more understanding if you are over that age. (I am)

I am becoming a little concerned that I have not heard from Melanie
for over a week. It makes my senses tingle as it is usually a sign
that things are not going well. Going to send her an e-mail to see
what is going on.
I need to know if its trouble with Jim again as if they break up I
will be involved anyway. I am the bank of Mum.

Yes that's Susan & Matt's new fire.....lovely wooden beam for the mantle shelf and the hearth is black granite which matches the wood stove.      They've decided on the carpet but that won't be yet....the wooden block floor is going to be pulled up but that'll be after walls are knocked out and others put up.    But it's getting there.

Yes it's lovely of Susan to take Benjie out.....when her & Matthew are here they always take Benjie out to give David a break.

Right  for me.....L&L for Carole and a  for Margaret.....BOND what do you want?

As I was told when I split with Gil first time by Gil's sister
"she made her bed now she has to lie in it" ....
Good for Matthew ,just hope he dos not turn on him though

That's the one I call Big Palmers Carole........talking about sizes that coal is the normal size Carole, you've been in America too long where EVERYTHING is BIG. confused2    I've even measured one of the darn things and it's 9 inches in circumference one way and 9 inches the other......sigh!!!   normal  size of coal.

Yes they moved into their new house .....which he tells HER is his......and they were married last August.     We all said she'd fall flat on her face.....knew it wouldn't work out,  but no I'm not sorry for her either.      Even Matthew called him a liar the other day.

Right back later........new avatar is the wood burner.

Morning Bond ,actually it does not FEEL
that cold this morning ,but I KNOW from what they
are forecasting I will be saying different by Sunday/Monday
as he was saying last night after the Snow Sunday it then turns
to sleet or rain and THEN the temps DROP big time with the
gusting WINDS . and advising people to check the oil if
they have furnaces as they will be struggling to keep the places
warm ...

Vicky INTERESTING talk indeed ,could it be that the GRASS
was NOT GREENER on the OTHER SIDE ,ah well can't
feel sorry for her only Laura and Matthew what she has put them through

They did move into the new house right ? and when was the wedding ?
MAYBE she will not jump the broom

Well enjoy your visit with your daughter ...

Mine sent me a picture of both Timmy and Riley in their doggie beds
ON HER BED ,Timmy is all covered up to his nose as he likes to snuggle
and has a blanket on him but Riley was eating a chew stick
She said it had been cooler down there than normal so having tiled
floors throughout as they do mostly in Florida,it would be cold walking around
in her house I am sure ....

Just had my UK £ deposited in my bank ,worked it out it SHOULD have been
on Monday but with the Banks closed it was put in today

Marge what day is yours put in ,probably different from mine right ?
was a little more this time as well as the rate of exchange was a little
higher than in December where it was off by about $20 ....

Any way only going to go get the drops from Walgreens ready for the 31st
today and pick up a canister of cat litter ,I clean Buddy and Tabitha's boxes
every morning so with it being the clumping kind it lasts quite a while
Maybe pick up some more bread as well but that is all I am lacking

SO GOOD MORNING EVERY ONE
I shall return

Morning......we've got Laura this morning but Susan should be here soon also.      Interesting conversation with Laura this morning  her Mum has said if she had somewhere to go and some money in the bank also a job they'd move out.

Later Susan's here.

talktohand Ok already I see your FIREPLACE
Vicky with what I call SMALL pieces of coal confused2

That Palmer's on Trip Advisor says its at 77 St Johns Enderby
is that the "little Palmer's or big Palmer's " as you call them ?

Marge Gil used to want to go to Arby's SO BAD but there is not
one close to us as all he would keep saying was
"we have the MEAT" funnytvprog

My Lord has it already been three years since pete  passed away
its almost 6 mths Gil's been gone ,on one hand it seems SO MUCH
LONGER ,then at times its like it was just yesterday
Guess we BOTH have a lot of healing to still do ,too bad we are not closer
we would be able to hold each other up

Hope you get the car into Gasser Bros have you had to start it being covered
and not running it for so long ?

Tracie said she has put Timmy back on all his meds and he seems a
little better ,but she spread them out a little as she thinks it was giving
them all to him at the same time was what was making him
throw up ,only trouble three are every 12hrs

She also just got new pet insurance for him and Riley, but thinks she may
not be able to claim Timmy treatment  being as what he has is preexisting
but said the premiums are  a LOT cheaper than the other she had

Ok I see Bond has gone up the Apple and Pears already so
will catch you  ALL later
Umm I see the two tribes that run the casino's here
have been asked by the new Governor to look into building
a NEW casino here on the shore line in Bridgeport ,something
a LOT of people have been wanting as it will bring a LOT
of jobs and business to the area ,HOPE it works out as
before the Mohegan and Machintuckets  {spelling on THAT tribe}
said before they objected to another casino and would stop
paying the State the revenue they do right now for having
the two Casino's in CT
Guess they are planning to joint own it IF it gets built

OK night night ....send husky dogs Sunday run run run run snowy

Now I can see the grate with the square type coals in it.
which is Vicky's I assume.

Felt like having an Italian sub yesterday from Arby's
in the Redondo Beach Village, as they say "it's not
just for beef anymore".
This Arby's has been there for ever and we love their
hot cider drink when its cold. (could be apple juice).

Today I am taking it easy and doing lots of small
jobs like replacing batteries in the smoke alarms
and a couple of bulbs now I have the right kind.
I am also going to try and put flea drops on the cats.
Think I might have to trim their claws first!
I got a new 2019 Muscle Car calendar so I can mark off the
first 17 days.
(by the way it was the 3rd anniversary of Peters passing
yesterday) I feel on a more even keel now so not as
emotional as the last 2.
I still miss him so but I don't miss the struggles he had to
go through the last 21 years of his life.
I have accepted that he is gone and now what happens
next is up to me. Which is a challenge. I am still trying
to put some sense of order in my life but every time I turn
around something pops up that I did not expect.
I will just keep slogging away until it comes right.

Though that still doesn't explain you seeing our fire with small pieces of coal....or coke pellets as you called them.      Are you seeing OUR fire now Carole......it's closer up so you should be able to see that the coal is the normal size.

Thanks for the orange & mango drink Bond.....Carole said it's fine for me to have one of hers.

Only got a couple of pages to read so I'll have finished by tonight.

up coming storm  tomorrow night into Sunday and Monday
So as well as fingers crossed for Ian can we also hope  that
it once AGAIN misses us

Yes you're right Margaret it's supposed to be a very bad spot for accidents.

Fingers crossed for Ian then Margaret.

Oh I love Toby jugs....they always remind me of when I went with my best friend Janice to elocution lessons.....I know what went wrong.....anyway the teacher we used to go to had a toby jug on this book case shelf , I used to look at it and think "One day I'm going to buy myself a toby jug"   I've got two small ones now     Ooer..... funnytvprog    I always loved reading Alice in Wonderland when she'd asked me to pick a couple of lines out of a book....so that book always reminds me of that teacher too.

BTW Carole no just normal size coal......there you go Carole our fire, you'll see the size of the coals......this was taken the other christmas.

I can see a fire place that's been demoed
ready for new fittings.
So what Carole is seeing I don't know.

It seems that where the accident happened
is a black spot for accidents so It could have
been that BOTH drivers were to blame.
Bet the Range Rover was a special built one
for royalty.

FINALLY its stopped raining.
Yesterday it was just like the walk about
in London , only it was here!
We will still have problems with the soil
being so saturated.
Some more urban retaining walls have given way
under the weight and trees have been falling all
over the place.
Being as the weather is supposed to be fine all next week
I think I will give the Gasser Brothers a call to see if I
can get Big Red towed in for service at last.

He been sitting under his cover since before Xmas.
Black Beauty can then go in for her safety check that
she has every year. I didn't need it before hand but
I like to have her running tip top.

BB is the easiest as I get rides to and from Hillside.
It usually takes only one day.
No rides offered from the Gassers even though its
only a 10 minute ride away.
When BB went in for repairs to the body work a
few years ago, that was 5-6 miles away and I got a ride
from the owner  both ways!
I have to admit that the Gasser bros. know the inside
of an engine like no one else so and its the closest
place I could find so put up with their way of doing business.

I can't explain the system of diverting rain water away from the
slope at the rear of the house. 80% goes out to the street via
the guttering. The up side of the house, it goes  straight down the
driveway to the street ,another one diverts rain water into the little
garden bed in front of the porch and the one on the down side
goes into a French drain and spreads the water to that side of the
property and it runs to the street that way.
The rain used to build up on the flat roof addition and drop like
a water fall over the French windows and that was taken care of
by an expert  gutter company.

We basically live on a giant sand dune and 60 ft. down is bedrock.
On the flat part down below us, being the bed of a old lake
its all clay so we each have conditions we need to be aware of.
The weather man says  that some areas had up to 10 inches
of rain out of the week long rain storm. I would guess locally
we had at least 3-5 inches all told.

Meeting went well last night ,we had a Dad who just found out his son
had  a drug problem and not just a drinking problem.
Thank goodness the child does not live at home anymore but is still
causing drama and chaos with his parents.
I shared my story of being able to run a primitive encampment
with nearly 100 girls aged 12-14 and still could not control my
then out of control daughter!
I thought we were doing everything right but sometime it
does not work.  confused2

It seems Ian had an audition and has been "penciled in"
which means nothing as they can change it at any time
saying "They are going another way". but all of us
have fingers crossed for him.
Lots of trees down in Melanie's area I see by the county
web site.
Think that's all at the moment so I will say TTFN

PS I have a Toby Jug that has a little stash of stuff in
it like Xmas tree extra bulbs and other stuff.

lumps delivered and grandad would have to break
them up

Just hoover living room rug and cleaned my glass top table
that sits in the middle and
cleaned out some of the *junk* collected in
the jug and basin that I have in the center of it
you would not BELIEVE  what I found ,even some
Uk  coins Shocked

Buddy just had a *mad* moment when he dashes from the living
room into the kitchen and then flies back to my bedroom
,guess it's one way of  exercising Rolling Eyes

Watching the History channel ,60.000 yrs ago when
Neanderthals first emerged from Africa and how they
we're made extinct

Interesting

BTW our fire isn't coke pellets either....it's coal, not real coal but you wouldn't know it.

Never too early for a  Bond.

They say he's a good driver still Carole, accidents do happen......and the Queen still drives to church on a Sunday.

The avatar you should be seeing Carole hasn't got the wood burner fitted yet, just the hole where the wood stove will be......so I don't know what you're seeing  confused2    certainly not *coke*  pellets.      The wood burner was fitted just before Christmas but I hadn't yet put the avatar on here.

Yes both Palmers are near Leics Carole.....good places to look around and have breakfast or lunch.....or an early dinner.

Good job on your hair then Vicky
Looks like the city trucks never sanded
our side roads but the main ones right now
that I can see are flying by as normal

What's Prince Philip doing still :driver: at 97
and turning his car over nono ,he's lucky he
and the young passengers in the Kia were not
injured worse

I see the fireplace Vicky ,now your saying wood burning
is it then an open fire or artificial as looks like it's full of *coke*
pellets in your avatar unless I am seeing a different one being
on my kindle right now while watching tv

Ok so back later on and Vicky I have rated different places
for Trip Advisor and for what ever reason guess what popped
up ,Palmers over there it's near Leicester right

Well she's done a good job on my hair.....

Yes that's a new one on me as well Carole with toasted pineapple and syrup.  .....think I'll try that though      ......I have got a packet of crumpets and a tin of pineapples no syrup though.   Have it for lunch.   Smile

talktohand   It's far too cold for slinky nighties Bond.....and they are nice nighties I've bought, not grannie type ones but what the young kids wear.     Hey I've got a couple of pairs of PJ's also which are cosy but still "with it"   ......a couple of years ago I bought a lovely pair of PJ's which you could wear going out clubbing in.....not that I would but hey you could, I wore them when we went to Coombe Abbey when we stayed there for our 50th anniversary.  to go to sleep in I might add.    When I bought my first cosy nightie Susan said  Shocked  "What's it look like?"   when I told her she said "Oh that sounds ok, it's not one of these nightie's an old lady would wear then" I said to her...."As if"    Smile    so sorry Bond you'll have to put up with my cosy nightwear.

The next avatar .....after Margaret's seen this one......will be the new wood burner which they had put in   At the moment the builder is working on the guest bedrooms.....then he'll be downstairs knocking walls out and putting walls up......she had said we could go down there this weekend and see what's been done but because we're still not 100% she's coming up here.

Morning Bond ,NAKED crumpets
or with toasted PINEAPPLE and SYRUP
That is a new one to ME at least ....

Well we have snow not looking like much here
though, but its Sundays weather we have to worry about
when storm # 2 comes through our State ,as the winds
besides the snow/ice will be gusting over 40mph making
it FEEL like -16f {which is -26c} to away from the shoreline
-24f {-31c} BRRRRRR
Going to NEED both the BAAA Lamb nightie AND the Greek side
slit one PLUS a BLANKY

Cannot figure out when my UK Pension goes in my bank this month
as in Dec because it was due the 24th they put it in early ,but REALLY
early on the 18th ,so HOPEFULLY it should get deposited this month
on the 21st ,ALTHOUGH over here that is a Bank holiday now for
Martin Luther King day confused2

Hope Vicky made it to the hairdressers safely ,and I am SURE she will be
looking Glam as always

Saw the demolished fireplace Vicky so whats next ?

Hope Marge had a good night and also made it OK to
her meeting even though she goes the neighborhood side roads
I worry about her driving at night ...

OK Bond so what are YOU doing today ,have Am Drams picked their
next play yet ?

Anyway I will be home not venturing out anywhere
So back later on confused1

Well, in the end we all cancelled going out as
the rain kept getting heavier and heavier so
it would not have been safe out on the roads
with all the other cars flying through deep
water in the flooded sections sending up
sprays of water that would have gone over
the roof of the cars.

Its still raining but it is light rain now.
The forecast it for one more day of rain and
then it will finally clear out.
That's probably when there will be trees
brought down because the soil is so
saturated.( High winds are forecast for next week)
So far only some rock slides in the foot hills blocking
some roads.
Tabbitha is entranced with a tiny slug crawling up the
window, bet the earth worms have all come out of the
soil as well. Its funny to see how many leave their little
tunnels to escape the water then when it stops they all
disappear again!
So far so good as far as the roof holding up and only
tiny drops of water in the channels of the sliding glass
French windows in the den. They have a drainage
system built into them which is working well.

I do check after each heavy cloud burst.
There are only four spots from old water damage that
was done before we had the roof replaced several years
ago and no new ones.

Ian did clean out the gutters on the up side of the garage
even though it has a grate over it because of the pine
needles and garbage from the pepper tree still tend to
get through the slots. so that running just fine.
Our gutter system is set up to funnel rain from the back of
the house(facing the slope) and towards the front so it
can run out into the gutters in the street.

We have no large street drains on these streets so it all runs
down hill to the main road which has HUGE ones to cope
with all the run off. They lead to a settling pond over on another
street the size of a football field.
Its does not all go out to the ocean that way but into the City underground
well system which they use for watering the parks and golf courses and
center medians in dry times.

Its time to take my pills and get going here.
Its my meeting tonight and that I must get to come hell or high water.
I will be going prepared for it. Its up hill all the way and I know a short cut
coming back down that will keep me off the main roads. TTFN

Oops  sorry didn't bring my mug down.....no not my fizzogg but my drinking mug.  SORRY BOND......

Advice I always give my kids Carole  "It's the other drivers you have to watch out for"   and Rob does enough  :driver:  to confirm there are some idiots on the roads and he always keeps his wits about him.      Susan hates driving long distances these days so much so she'd rather come up here by train....even with that expense.

Been to big Palmers and got rid of 6 books.......had salad & chips and also an individual trifle....and a cuppa.    David had cheese & onion toastie and salad & chips and apple pie and cream.    and a black coffee.       So it'll only be a sarnie later.

Oh got a late Christmas card from the Sitton Bros.

Well OK guess your excuse #45 is accepted
funnytvprog
Been and come back from Big Y shopper
In and out as no one is PANICKING as of YET
I am hoping they are ALL WRONG ,was talking to an
off duty cop doing his shopping ,said the biggest problem
they had was drivers in SUV's thinking they were immune
from the ice etc and would speed along as if it was a dry day
4x4 one thing I DO NOT DO in mine and something I always
told my kids and grandkids when first learning to  :driver:
"Its NOT how YOU drive ,it is the OTHER guy you have to watch out for"
as well

Being as I did not eat breakfast before leaving I am now having a
bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds

Looks like Buddy was having one of his "Speedway" moments while
I was out as the hall runner was half way into Blaine's bedroom
when I got home and found a couple of pieces of FUR ,so could be
BOTH were having a "CHASE ME MOMENT"

All I got today was ice tea for Spencer Beefaroni individual containers
that Blaine likes to take to work ,sliced meat and cheese from the deli
rolls, cat food and a 6 pack of V8

Just had to show Tabitha what I was eating as she comes up every time
and wants what ever I am  having ,she normally likes a little piece
of ham/chicken /turkey or cheese but I have to CHEW it up first  Rolling Eyes
but she turned her nose up at my cereal

So that is it I am HIBERNATING till at LEAST Monday

Be back later

Well looking bright out there but frost on the grass.

talktohand  Oh don't get me started on the Axa building Bond.....what a mess it is now,  now that is an eye sore.  Mad  I know when Susan first saw it she just stood with her mouth open not believing what she was seeing.....then she said "That's terrible it looks as if a bunch of five year olds have been let loose with some paint brushes"  confused2

Your landlady is such a bad landlady Carole......when Susan was letting out her house if anything wanted to be done it was....straight away. and Matt still is renting out his apartment  and his tenants only need to have any problem and it's fixed.      But that's how it should be.

I'm still enjoying my book.....almost finished and will be keeping.    Might go to big Palmers today so I can take some of my books I'm not keeping for the charity shelves.

Smile  at the avatar Bond.

Morning  looks like Bond came in
but WHERE'S the
BTW I do drink my ONE cup of in
the morning the rest of the day and night is my
L & L but I see NOTHING made , is Bond
messing in his garage /work studio for the AM Drams
I wonder confused2

OK so I think I am going to the shopper  store TODAY
rather than Sat/Sun as I normally would do ,BECAUSE
starting at midnight tonight the snow will first fall, making
tomorrow's early commute a nightmare ,and then its supposed
to change to an icy mix Saturday ,but changing
yet AGAIN SUNDAY as I said they are talking ICE /Mix so as
Marge said yesterday even an 4x4  SUV like I have is no
good in really WINDY or ICY weather nono
Looking at the map he is showing right now on TV I am
it will be less along the shoreline on Sunday

Timmy was still not right last night ,Tracie said she will call the Vet today if
hes no better ,she said where she takes him and has his insurance
coverage ,is like a "factory" where you do not always get the same Vet
and the one she liked has gone and this one now she does not like
as much  confused2 so praying he pulls through

Wonder what Marge ended up getting last night ,they have our Red Lobster
that you pick 4 from all these seafood dishes for X Amount  of $$ looks
delicious, but after I got sick last time I went with Linda, its kind of
put me off  headbanger
I used to LOVE their  fish  cheesychipraid ,guess I should have had
THAT the day we went

Anyway I am off will go to the store as soon as Spencer leaves at 730
as Big Y opens at 7am
confused1   better leave the    on low already put the mash in the
 Vicky for your

I see the bed now Vicky looks nice and bright

Spencer just in now he's late tonight ....

Oh I cannot do much if she does not do the repair work Vicky
only thing is she will get dropped from the house insurance
AGAIN as this is not the first company she's had ,I worry in
case she either lets everything go or sells the house as I
know with the rooms we have here the rent will certainly go WAY UP
three bedroom apartments go now for $1000+ and she pays for
the water ,and also maintains the Furnace in our side ...

OK so don't be spilling that mug on your best nightie
The weatherman is talking an ICE STORM for Sunday now

Speak tomorrow

Enjoy Red Lobster Marge confused1
