I think back to me and if I hadn't met Mrs b on new years eve 50 Years ago I would of been off to Australia with mate who did go as both of us had no home life to speak of boat it was a £10 Pom in those days
Sorry to hear your a bit Moby Dick. Carole
I've got some Brownie points today I've gone around the inside windows cleaning them with .hot water .fairy liquid. And vinegar then polishing them with newspaper but its not like the news paper of our days but they do sparkle now
I had a phone call from M&S saying they were back safe and thanking me for doing the kitchen . Sara has gone to the shop this morning so Michael is putting the things back
I think its time for drinks then its sort out the bottle greens ready for hair cut time

Yes I found that as well Carole.......I remember when it was re-furbished and brought up to date in 2007.   People come from far and wide to take photos of the water features.....you see them with their high tec camera's.

Awww it's not fair that those pilots can't have an input and get Tracie a job there.

New avatar is day 17 you can see the door on the en-suite Carole.

Just found my own answer
It opened in 1958 .why could I not remember that

The Belgrade Theatre is a live performance venue seating 858 and situated
in Coventry, England. It was the first civic theatre to be built after the
Second World War in Britain and as such was more than a place of entertainment.
It joined the new Coventry Cathedral as a symbol of optimism and culture
in one of the largest re-development projects then undertaken, to rebuild
the city of Coventry, which had been almost totally destroyed by bombing.
The building is now a grade II listed building.[1] In 1963 the Belgrade was
registered as a charity by the Charity Commission (number 219163).
The Belgrade acquired its name in recognition and thanks for a gift of
timber from the Yugoslavian (today Serbian) capital city of Belgrade
(Coventry's official sister city), that was used extensively in the construction
of the auditorium. Since opening in 1958, the theatre has established itself
as a centre for the new and innovative productions.

Having pioneered the Theatre-in-Education movement in the 1960s the
theatre continues to work with disadvantaged young people and uses drama
as a tool to develop personal and social skills. Their most successful
programme "Acting Out" has been commissioned by Coventry's LEA for
the last 10 years and has been replicated across the UK. One graduate
of the course credits "Acting Out" with saving her life.[2]

The theatre reopened in September 2007 after undergoing a £12 million
refurbishment with a 7-storey extension to provide a second auditorium.

Prince Edward officially opened the refurbishment of the Belgrade's B2
studio on 5 February 2008, this also marked the 50th anniversary of
the Belgrade's opening performed by Princess Alexandra.[3]

Such is the Belgrade's standing within Coventry that in December 2017,
the iconic theatre was used as the venue for invited guests and city
dignitaries for the announcement of the 2021 UK City of Culture result.
There were amazing scenes of jubilation as Coventry was awarded the accolade.[4]

Yes I guess so Vicky ,trouble is too bad it could not
have been doing what she spent all the $$ on and
time etc training for a job it looks like she will never get to
do as she does not have a year under her belt ,and making
the "dean's " list as well got her no where
I know she must be worrying as she is like me keeps
it all inside not saying much to anyone about it

Yes she said she knew a couple of the pilots at Miami Air
so guess was hoping they could put in a good word as
all the pilots she flew with at Silver Airlines praised her
highly ,some saying she helped them on their "maiden flights"
giving them encouragement on their take offs and landings

Well Blaine just left all bundled up,went out to start his car before
he left so you KNOW its cold as normally he goes out starts
and just drives off

So will Bond be back to serve drinks I wonder

As to the Belgrade maybe Marge knows when that first
came into being as I cannot remember all I remember
is the Hippodrome

Yes we loved getting the photos off Susan each day and knowing how everything was coming along.

What I meant Carole was hopefully with Tracie having a part time job it'll go in her favour when she goes for another better job, if she sees something.... "What have you been doing since leaving....?"  and she'll be able to say she's working part time at the shop which is better than saying "Nothing"   having the P/T job should hopefully go in her favour when she applies for another job....a better full time job.    Such a shame about her hearing nothing from the other airline.

Avatar is day 13.....walls up everything starting to take shape.

Cool watching it all happen Vicky

Yes I hope Barb gets something as she does not
deserve what she is getting .
Same with Tracie who has always worked hard all
her life ,but the P/T job
will not lead to any thing bigger Vicky as its a only as a
cashier in a grocery store ,and as I said at $8,80 hr
and only 15 hours a week after taxes she will be lucky
if she clears $100 ,but she said it will help towards a bill
her electric bill is around $160 mth ,that is with out
phone, gas for her car, car insurance food etc etc

She applied to Miami Air lines another small airline near her
but had heard nothing last I spoke to her and as I said what
she had to give her other Airline job up for to train for the
Medical Assistant ,THEY all want at LEAST a years experience confused2
After she quit Silver Airlines she lost her job for good headbanger

Just have to keep something comes along

But the way Trump is leading the country WHO KNOWS what will
happen .......something is SERIOUSLY WRONG with that man
and yet SO MANY think he is RIGHT confused2 Rolling Eyes

Well it wouldn't be the Belgrade which is there now Carole.

Fingers crossed for Barb then Carole........and your daughter that now she's got a foot on the ladder of a P/T job let's hope it leads to a really good job for her.

Oh my avatar is day 3 when the wall had been knocked down, door onto the landing blocked up and the start of the walls to make the en-suite and the dressing room.

Was that Bond I saw run run
for the bus with Mrs B running a close 2nd
yelling for the driver to WAIT cheers
And going to the Belgrade I see ,you know I NEVER
went THERE either ,now was it even THERE when we
first left in 1967 confused2
I am sure Gil might have but again doubt it as that
was "not his thing"
Talking of Gil was woken this morning with memories
of the day he passed ,its like a film clip that at times
keeps replaying OVER & OVER in my head Sad
So have been up since 4am ,can see a power nap easychair
later on in the works ..

VERY cold this morning and only going to get worse as the wind
gets stronger temps feeling like 15f /-9c right now with the wind chill
and tomorrow will only have temps around zero / -17c
Going to HAVE to leave the bathtub tap dripping tonight otherwise
we will wake up to a frozen pipe I know ,whom ever designed this
house putting the bathroom at the FRONT of the house and not
insulating the pipes good should be ,,when the plumber
came over a year ago they managed to get part way to where
they are as there is like a over hang ,but in order to insulate really
GOOD and wrap the pipe which is what it needs ,they would have
had to have taken off the siding and THAT did not happen ,so he
shoved insulation in as far and as much as he could ,it does not help
as the end opens up into the corner of the garage near the door
and the garage is not heated even though its a bit warmer after the new
door was installed again over a year now Rolling Eyes

Anyway do not think I shall venture far today ,Spencer is over Carmen's
last night as normal he slept over ,Blaine will be up shortly
so away I shall trot ....

Morning Vicky ,Marge ,hope you got all your boxes loaded up
for Charity

Oh had a text from Barb last night ,today she has an appointment
with Operation Hope in Fairfield CT ,its a charity agency
started 30 yrs ago to help the homeless ,they offer rents food
etc so hoping they can help her as the male friend
she is staying with she said is starting up again, one minute OK
the next complaining & screaming at her ,he is Bipolar she thinks
as he flips like a light switch ,one of the reasons she broke up with
him ,but the only one she could find who would let her stay there
till she found something so she is going to get somewhere

OK back later

I feel for you both Carole & Margaret.....you've got Trump and we've got a House of Commons  who are hell bent on not giving us Brexit.         I was watching Ruby Wax on TV today and she was saying she interviewed Trump about 15 years ago....and they played a clip of her  on the plane interviewing Trump.....Trump said he wanted to be the US President and she laughed....as you would....and the clip came to an end and she said "But after we stopped filming he went to the cockpit and told the Captain he wanted the plane landed and that woman off the plane  and that's what happened the plane landed and I was informed I was to get off"  Mad

Good morning from the left coast of the USA.

Did you see what Trump has said now?
That he will bar any FEMA help the next time
there is a wild fire in this state as we don't
know how to manage our forests.
FEMA is
a government agency that helps with
disaster loans at a very low rate of interest.
Most people affected by hurricanes and such
do not have enough private insurance to rebuild
their lives or businesses without some
help from the feds.
He is willing to have this whole country at a standstill
by shutting down and suspending pay to the agencies
caring for all the national parks and other services such
as TSA at the airports and inspections of food products.
next it will be the military.
If a private company tried this they would be in court
in 24 hours as its against the law.
Its all because he wants a damn wall all the way across
California, Arizona and Texas, when we locals know that
most of the illegals come in by regular airlines!
A wall will not keep out the drug dealers and more
desperate people are willing to die to get to the US than
go back to their own countries.

I was shocked to learn that even after all this time, there
are still refugees from Viet Nam who still do not have
permanent status in the USA. All the generals with
lots of money got theirs straight away. ( we are talking
1973 for goodness sake!)
There are lawyers , doctors and University profs driving
taxis for a living because they cannot get certified to
practice here. Only the engineering community seem
to be doing well.
Its all cockeyed to me.
We will see what happens the next time there is a hurricane
in Florida aimed at his resort and see how quickly he claims
help from FEMA!
His hand chosen cabinet members are fleeing the sinking ship
of state in droves. None want to have their good reputations
dragged in the mud by an out of control president.
He relied on a lot of military retired generals to head this country
and has found out that they prefer loyalty to the American public
than a Tatter Tot like Trump.
I think I am finished with the soapbox for today.

We have more of the wet stuff headed our way tonight.
its gone from Partly sunny to overcast in the last hour or so.
Its not a big storm but at this point any rain will bring down
more mudslides in the burn areas.

I still have an old style metal baking dish which has shallow
shell shapes in it.
I am told is hard to get these days. Its the only way to make
Mince Pies and tarts. The American muffin tins are too deep.
but they are good for individual Yorkshire puddings.

Gardeners came yesterday so they are coming back to look
at broken sprinkler head when they have finished for the week.
I gave them their check and a small Xmas box as they do a good
job with the garden.
Cases are ready to go back in the garage and I have a couple of
boxes to put clothes in to be given away to charity.
I might need more boxes at this rate .
Going to wrangle a few more files today, some do not need to be
in the filing cabinet as they take up too much room so will put
them in large envelopes to be stored in another small filing cabinet.
This is the tax records and car service records and a few other items
so it will be just receipts and statements in there.
Its time for breakfast here so TTFN

Most of my family, great grand Dad, Grand Dad, Great Uncles, Uncles were in the Durham Light Infantry  (though Jim was in the Cold Stream Guards)   though the DLI are no longer that great regiment was amalgamated in 68 with other regiments and is now just the Light Infantry. confused2

This avatar Carole is on day 1 when the builder ripped out the fitted wardrobes of the two bedrooms .       The door straight in front was the bedroom which is now their en-suite and the bedroom on the right is their bedroom and also now the dressing room.

Been out ....had nibbles at M&S and bought some baking dishes (which I needed, a couple I'd got have seen better days so I said "They're going"  I have had them for around 2o odd years)   and we got some food for Benjie.

We're back and what a smart doggie he looks.

Oh all the bedrooms had fitted wardrobes Carole ......just that they hadn't got an en-suite as they had in their last house just the family bathroom and of course also a loo downstairs....they didn't need 5 bedrooms so they decided to make one of them into the en-suite and because their bedroom is so big they thought  instead of having fitted wardrobes in the bedroom they'd make a dressing room.  It is looking lovely now it's all finished, their new bed arrives next Tuesday so they'll not move into there until then.

Oh no you can't buy crumpets over there......I love crumpets, will have to get some.

Ok back later............

The avatar was only day 8 Carole when the wall was knocked down between two bedrooms & the bedroom door onto the landing which will no longer be a bedroom but the en-suite is blocked up, we've got those photos but it'll be boring putting them all on so I'm picking if you understand, but to answer your question....there is a door into the en-suite but you'll see what they've done as I add photos.

Oh got to go and pick Benjie up......later.

PLEASE STOP talktohand my heads
going around

Ok so Vicky will there be a door leading into the dressing room
and then ensuite ,or is it going to be straight through confused2

I watch a lot of shows and the "in thing" now a days seems to
be making a spare bedroom into a dressing room ,guess a
good idea in the older houses where there are no closets ,I know
over here a room without a closet cannot be classed as a bedroom
Guess years ago it was different as NONE of ours had any in Coventry
we BOUGHT wardrobes

Carmen did a live presentation last night on FB showing her
Tuppaware line ,you can really do ANYTHING with it now a days
using it in the Microwave ,that you used to do using your oven
Trouble is its not what I WOULD CALL CHEAP ....but she has now
sold enough and has risen in the ranks I think Spencer said she
went from Manager to Director confused2

Cold this morning and only going to get colder as the week goes on
so not going far today ,and what do you mean Vicky NO CRUMPETS
Cannot find them over here now like I used to ,told you why right ?

Wendy said Henry went to the groomers yesterday smells better now
she said funnytvprog

OK back later Blaine is up in the shower

MORNING MARGE run run

I hate any film with Zombies .....and I watched two films from China or Japan which Steve had bought and they're still in my mind, he did say at the time "They're really scary" and oh boy they were and if I think of any really scary film I think of those two. Now Susan loved "Wizard of Oz" she was about 5 when she watched it the first time, and that was it.....for years it was "Can we watch The Wizard Of Oz"? and we did, the boys would say "Oh not that film again" I can understand it scaring you though Margaret, I thought long and hard about it before allowing Susan to watch but she loved it.

Its funny but I solved a lot of my nightmares on my own
from my childhood.
I sat down to watch films on TV like "The Wizard of Oz "
with my kids and saw the exact scene where the lady who
is the wicked witch steals Toto and in my nightmare it was my cat
Ninny! It happened with other films too. Guess my Mum was
going to the matinees while dad was at work (this was
before I started school so about 3,4,or 5) and they wondered
why I was having nightmares !!! I got put on strong adult sleeping
medication to make sure I did not go walk about in my sleep
anymore. (I fell down the stairs at least twice).
Dr. put it down to a vivid imagination!
I do not watch horror films as Peter found out on a first date when he
wanted to see "The Blob" !
I left only 10 minutes after it started. Cost him the cost of the seats
and the box of chocolates!
He was a good soul about it though. I love a good drama or
murder mystery which seems odd.

Strange dream Margaret.......though the other day I had one of my strange dreams which I have on the odd occasion.....David in a round about way tells me he wants a divorce and my Gran is always in the dream as well.   confused2  very strange.....I always tell David "You were divorcing me again last night"

And I was looking at some old maps of Nuneaton earlier today Bond.

Been nattering to Susan the carpet is down in the bedroom and dressing room.....they're pleased, they've decided to have the same carpet in all the other bedrooms but a different type on the landing and down the stairs.    The builder is in one of the guest bedrooms ripping out the fitted furniture ....it's coming along.

Lovely photo Carole.      great job she's done.

New avatar is in 1980 when we went to visit Grandma Peachey & the aunties at the Farm House and the farm because they were still breeding goats, so the kids were thrilled with the baby goats..    Grandma is sitting down, Aunty Ruby is standing behind Steve 12 and Aunty Vic is next to Rob 10 with me sitting down with Susan 11 month.   Grandma was 87 and still riding her bicycle.

Morning Marge ,yes Bond I took the photo
while still in Fran's just before I left in the
FREEZING and WINDY weather .....

Some visits my hair comes out better than
others ,depends sometimes on "how many interruptions "
Fran gets as she does not have a receptionist any more
all her "ladies" take turns answering the phone
and so if someone needs an appointment they have to
leave what they are doing and go out to look in the book...

Today she was in with only one other stylist ,but only had
me and a another lady so was not that
bad ,I REALLY needed a haircut though as the back had grown
like a weed she said funnytvprog

Yes Marge Barb has been down to all the agencies ,ABCD
etc but seems she is not getting any where and as I said
all the homeless shelters are FULL so she is on a waiting list

My question is so what do people DO in a case like that
no wonder you see people sleeping in doorways or walking around with
their belongings in a shopper

Just made jacket potato's and steaks for the boys later
so going to relax a few ,I had a crispy chicken sarnie for lunch

Back later on though run run run

I agree with what Vicky said, you have your hands full
with one of your own children out of work.
There must be several agencies dealing with this kind
of problem especially in this cold weather in your
community.

Had one of those peculiar dreams last night about
being Peters helper and driving somewhere and losing
the car so spent hours looking for it and trying to
find out if it had been towed or was stolen.
Peter was getting tired and hungry so I was in a right
old state.
I have had a variation of this dream in the 3 years
since he has been gone but not that often thank
goodness.
I think its just a reaction to knowing I put something
away before Xmas and cannot find it now.
If only there were not so many "safe" places in this house!
It will probably mean a full search of each room and
just hope it did not go out in the trash!

I think it was something to do with the taxes this year.
Waiting to see if the gardeners show up today as I am
holding checks for them.
I have DMV registration for BB which is $140 this year.
Also BRs cannot be far behind.
At least the property taxes got paid in full before Xmas so
no second payment this year in Feb.

Its been really foggy this morning but its starting to burn off
now. Its sunny and 51f at the moment. A high of 64f
is expected today and an overnight low will be 48f.
More rain showers are expected sometime this week.
Going to get myself a large coffee this morning as I think
I need a kick start to my day here. TTFN

We're doing our food shopper tomorrow after we've taken Benjie for his grooming.....so I'll have to raid Bond's fridgefood for tonights dinner.

Morning Vicky ,guess we ALL have very interesting
family histories

Vicky I HEAR you LOUD and CLEAR ,something my
son has also told me NOT to do ,so as MUCH as I might feel
I should I hold my tongue as far as offering lodging or $$
I mean I could spot her a few dollars ,but nothing to what
she is probably in need of ,and yes your right it all started
really when she got that "illness" and could not work so got
behind even MORE with her rent as even when she was looking
after Gil she was struggling as the agencies could only give her
patients that lived basically on a bus line due to her not having a car
on the road then OR now
But then she got her foot in the door at this Nursing Home right
on the bus line ,but because of all the hoo haa with being evicted
she has not started working there ,only seeing a man on the weekend
8 hrs I believe a day ,but at $10 an hr THAT is like in the WIND
If you KNOW what I mean ,so right now she is in bad place all around Rolling Eyes

How she will climb out of this HUGE HOLE I do not know ,but she also
knows I have enough to worry about with Tracie not working full time
anywhere ,so as MUCH as I might FEEL I should I CANNOT do more
than I am trying to do

Anyway its now sunny ,but BOY THAT WIND is blowing a GALE
so making it feel VERY BRRRRRRR

Soon be time to leave so back later
{BTW did you buy the Vick's } nono

Afternoon.....well not a very good night sleep last night here either.....

No my aunt Iris would of been my Mum's SIL, Carole she was the second wife to Will.....though of course my Mum had died long before he married Iris.

Yes it's hard for you Carole,  you became friendly with Barb and so of course you feel you should help,  but it's true you do only know one side, but if she hadn't been taken ill she would have still been working and able to pay the rent and so not on the streets so that's not her fault, if you can find her phone numbers of places for her to call that would be lovely but not money or heaven forbid "I'll put you up for a couple of nights"   it's such an easy thing to say Carole but very hard to sort out once it's been said....a couple of days become a couple of weeks and so it goes, so please please don't let that comment onto your lips.

Bond you're looking very brown......

Another view of the farm house.

Morning Bond ,well they were right about
last night ,woken up around 12midnight
to one HUMONGOUS  RUMBLE,of thunder
that sent Buddy FLYING down the stairs to the front
door unfortunately Spencer had not opened his door yet
as he leaves it shut while his TV is on so as not to disturb
anyone ,so poor buddy was cowering in the corner
I brought him back up stairs ,but as we climbed back
onto the bed a BIG FLASH of lightening and I KNEW what
was coming NEXT ,after counting one two three four BOOM !
so he flew off into the living room somewhere and that was
where he was when I got up
Stopped now along with the  so should be good to go
when I leave for Fran's at 9am

nono  Messy boy Bond look at all this wet stuff
you certainly WERE having a nightmare ,what are these
paintbrushes doing stuck in the jar of honey confused2

Weatherman talking about the Arctic BLAST we will be getting Friday
,but looking like the snow storm Sunday is staying
down  around New Jersey and going out to sea
good news for my eye dr's visit Monday

Well hope the ladies had a good night .....

The new Governor of CT gets sworn in today ,lets see how HE does over
the next 4 yrs confused2

Heard from Barb she is or was living on the streets basically after having
to get out her apartment, she cannot get into a shelter says they are all
FULL & is on a waiting list ,and has had to crawl back to the old "man friend"
Marc who she used to stay with on occasion ,but hes a NUT ...she even stayed
in her old non running car one night but said it was too cold confused2

I feel for her but I cannot help her ,only try to find her a place to stay
by finding phone numbers for her to telephone

Her Ex is banning her three kids from helping her as well even though
they are not babies the youngest is 16 but they stay with HIM ,one girl
being in college in Carolina ,the other works for him ,so guess they
do not want to "rock the boat "as he must support THEM ,
I know Michael the youngest works at his fathers business after school ,,,,so sad Mad

Spencer keeps telling me I probably do not KNOW the whole story
and not to get involved ,but I feel SO BAD for her ,I KNOW she
had problems when she looked after Gil and now know WHY she said
no one spoiled her like I used to when I gave her meals etc  while here
or to take home with her Shocked

Anyway hopefully she will come out of this the other side as NO ONE deserves
THIS

Well thank goodness for that Margaret but fancy him only being out since 2017.....obviously hadn't learnt, glad he'll be locked up for good this time.

At last I've found out the way to your heart Bond.....chocolate hob nobs.

Another view of the farm house.

My Mum was only 27 when she died Carole.....so very very young, though my cousins Linda & Michael were only 7 and 5 when my aunt Iris died at 32.
