PostSubject: Morning everyone..It's a new week...11/08/2014   Sun Jan 06, 2019 1:05 am

First topic message reminder :

Good afternoon all
I think Mr Mr Ray Winston would of sent the boys around to sort it out if people mest about with his granddaughter . I think back to me and if I hadn't met Mrs b on new years eve 50 Years ago I would of been off to Australia with mate who did go as both of us had no home life to speak of boat it was a £10 Pom in those days
Sorry to hear your a bit Moby Dick. Carole
I've got some Brownie points today I've gone around the inside windows cleaning them with .hot water .fairy liquid. And vinegar then polishing them with newspaper but its not like the news paper of our days but they do sparkle now
I had a phone call from M&S saying they were back safe and thanking me for doing the kitchen . Sara has gone to the shop this morning so Michael is putting the things back
I think its time for drinks then its sort out the bottle greens ready for hair cut time

Never mind "Who knows....." don't let that landlady get away with not doing the work when the weather is fine enough.....don't be soft with her

Yes Carole any building going empty and the Council do it up for the students to live in....nice buildings are just being  made into eye sores.   Mad

Well it's getting late.....wonder if I'll get my hot chocolate brought up to me tonight?

Oh so you will Bond......oh goody. Carole Bond's here with our drinks.

At least lessons were learned from the Victorians and Edwardians
as they used to build their houses right on the beaches, then
wonder why they got washed away by high tides!

Some parts of the coast south of us are just at sea level so get
flooded when the drains clog up like this morning.
Inland, north east of us on the Cajon Pass going towards the
state border ,there was a 19 car pile up because of thick fog.
Only moderate to mild injuries though.

Paying millions to have a house overlooking the ocean has
never appealed to me as if you are working full time you
won't be there to see it during the day and can only hear
it at night!
Most of the areas burned are a mixture of mini mansions
to the humble trailer parks so no one got away without
some damage. The foot hills have been built higher and higher
up without any thought to what happens when ground that used
to be covered with plants and bushes is now covered in concrete
with excessive weight or swimming pools.
That's why the catch basins were built but mud slides can happen
anywhere.
It seems as though we are going out tonight, I think there will be 5
of us going to The Red Lobster. We all live fairly close to each other
so not too far to drive in this weather.
I am going to have a sandwich and make a dash out to the market.
Good job its only a 5 minute drive away.

well I'm seeing benjie  a young benjie as
on my kindle so will have to wait till later Vicky

Don't know what Tracie will do she will be on top of it though

Had a visit from the landlady with two workmen earlier
Seems she just got a new insurance carrier for this house
last November ,but seems she just got a letter yesterday saying she
has 10days to get the SIDE STEPS repaired ,and the two decks
replaced
Well the deck might get done but there's no way they can do
the concrete steps NOW as it's too cold ,so whether the insurance company
accepts that she will have them done when the weather warms
who knows

As we have said had she done these repairs when she should have
done she would not be in this predicament
Too bad about the steps could have done having them repaired
while Gil was still here ....

Marge I pray you stay safe seems like every day you see
New stories of what those mud slides do ,Gil always asked
WHY did people build  in areas prone to such things
and also so close to the water  ,but I guess we humans
do not always see the danger only the beauty
and the fires do not help

Ok so what's everyone doing this evening ?

So you stood   down for the movies Vicky
good for you

Now is  mrbond doing drinks

Awful btw how the council in Coventry are
letting the students take over the city Sad

Gosford street where the students are Bond.....isn't that the whole town of Coventry?   It's a case of "If it's an empty building then we'll do it up for the students"  Mad  No wonder the place looks like a tip.   Sigh!!!

Oh dear Carole that's not good about poor little Timmy.....will she be able to take him to the Vets?

Enjoy your meal then Margaret......if it's still on.

telephone  she couldn't get out of bed this morning, her hip was hurting.....though she still wanted to go to the cinema tomorrow but I've told her we'll do it next Wednesday or Thursday.   She wasn't happy but tough.

New avatar is the bed etc.

They are saying its a 90% chance of rain today.
It was showers on and off for us locally yesterday.
Its a cross between drizzle and fog here at the moment.
It is a little warmer at night, in the mid 50s so I am
not cranking up the furnace the way I was for a couple
of days.
These older houses are not made for really cold temps being
made of wood and stucco and not very well insulated.
definitely made for milder temps!

There was a mud slide yesterday that moved someone's
guest house off its foundation and blocked access to the
main house. She said she had lived there over 30 years
and never thought this could happen, which just shows
that no one is safe if you live at the bottom of any kind
of slope in the foot hills.
A part of our hill gave way because the ice plant got too
heavy with moisture in 1978.It was only surface damage
so had our hillside terraced to hold it in place and is still
holding up. It rolled up like a huge carpet and rolled down
the hill! Luckily it was shallow rooted. It looked pretty
when it bloomed as every hill had swatches of purple
flowers. They advised against planting it on steep hill
sides after that as we were not the only ones affected.

Its been quiet as far as both Melanie and Ian are concerned.
There was a blizzard" white out" warning on her counties
web site so warned everyone to stay off the roads unless
it was an emergency.
Even the traffic through the grapevine
was snowed in the day before yesterday as the storm
front went through the foot hills. It was only for a few hours
as they have plows and gritters ready 24/7 up there.

The wind has been very strong on some of the exposed highways
so empty trucks have been flopping over like whales on a beach.
Cars do get blown about a bit but because they are lower to the
ground they don't turn over.
Its not a place to be driving an RV of any kind though.
Its like watching a drunken sailor sway about.

Just got a call to remind me its our dinner day for the Brits.
Our fearless leader is in London to see her grown kids and grandkids
who live in Bolivia and are in town for a friends wedding.

Delma has suggested the Red Lobster so she is calling round to see
how many want to go out if its still raining as the next promised
front is due in later today. She is going to call me back after calling all
the others.
Its very local to me so can get there on N/H surface streets.

I missed putting out the bins this morning but I think I can
wait until next week as the big bin is only 1/4 full and
the recycle bin is 1/2 full so plenty of room for another
week.
The garden waste bin will be full next time as there have been some
dead Palm fronds blown down which they cut up for me.
Slept better last night thank goodness so its TTFN
Don't think the gardeners will be showing up today somehow.

oh dear just asked Tracie
if she had started the grocery clerk job
yet and asked how Timmy was ,she had
said two days ago that he seemed much better ,
She replied that yes she has started her job but
that Timmy was sick again having thrown up
on her bed last night ,so she was not sure what's going on

If anything happens to that little dog I know she will
be heart broken

Looking very grey outside and feels cold ..
Have two loads doing washingmachine
Made tuna sarnies  for the lads lunches tomorrow
washed the bathroom floor ,and have a seasoned
Pork roast with parsnips cooking in the oven for
tonight's dinner
So taking a rest for a few until the first loads dry

Back later

I really thought that was disgraceful Carole how she told you it could be Glaucoma, when it turned out to be cataracts. Mad

Morning Marge
Yup have to pick the two lots of drops up
one I start the 29th four times a day ,the other
it says is for after that the Dr will tell me what to
do with them
I have never had an inkling of any other problems
with my eyes until this last optician found what SHE
thought was Glaucoma, but turned out to be cataracts
If I could put up with the slightly blurred vision I
am getting ,I could wait to get the operation ,but
it's annoying ,so getting it done while I can still
walk under my own steam know what I mean

Weather both sides Marge is sure winding up
just hope it settles down

Could do with a cat nap never mind cat rack funnytvprog

Trouble with Nostradamus people of course remember what he got right but forget what he got wrong...... even writing up to three almanac's in a given year. In total, these almanacs had over 6.000 different prophecies.....he also wrote things in a way which could be taken in different ways. .., by the law of average he had to get something right. And of course people now say he predicted certain events which aren't true. I wouldn't be worried Carole take what is said with a pinch of salt.

Hi Margaret......yes when it's finished it'll be the house of their dreams.

Its going to be a very swish house when
Finally finished Vicky.
Just to let you know ,I have been able to see
all the pictures you have shown us.

Peter had his cataract taken care of back in 2012
and if yours is anything like his, its only a bit
fiddley to start with as it was two sets of drops
each day every few hours. Once the check ups
are over and its healed and with your new glasses
you will notice a big difference.
Mine are not at the stage where they need treatment
yet. A glaring bright day and at night are when I notice it
the most. The eye Dr. says its progressing so slowly
that there has been no real change in the last
few years . Mine have been described as congenital
meaning I was born with the condition.
I never knew this until I was in my fifties and needed
glasses for the first time.

At the moment there is a lull between the rain fronts.
This latest one seems to have split into two and come
ashore both North and South of us. The only thing
that is certain is that there are more to come.
I have a Doppler radar site on our local channel 7
which I am keeping an eye on.
All the Cal Trans people are working like beavers between
each front to clear out the catch basins before it rains again.
We do need all the water we can get in the underground
aquifers as right now the snow pack up in the sierras is
not as good as it could be but there is time for that to
improve.
At least we don't have to use our garden sprinklers for a
couple of weeks!
I find that when I go back to sleep after my visit to the
little room, I have the most unusual dreams.
It also means I have been sleeping in later than usual.
The cats slept just about all day yesterday, only waking
to eat and tiddle. I must admit I feel the same way in this
weather. One effect is that the air smells nice and clean.

The only excitement lately has been the sink hole that appeared
on one of the major roads leading to and from the Freeway in
the center of the city. Its not that big but when they have to close
off a portion of a heavily traveled road its a mess traffic wise.
so may diversions and so may impatient people.
Its time I got started here, now where did I leave my duster ?

Ok I'm back again
Bought another 20lb bag of bird seed
I kid you not that they WAIT for me sitting
within the bushes across from my deck
then they come in droves like a well trained
army swooping in to feed funnytvprog

Just made the chicken in my airfryer  so I'm all done
cooking

Linda just offered to take me the 31st but i told her Blaine
and Spencer have it all in hand ,

Ahhh so that's what I saw on the door funnytvprog

Yes it's good Carmen is doing this Vicky ,but I worry
she will lose Spencer the way she is getting SO INVOLVED
with it ,it's like he said one day ,that's ALL she can see confused2
Plus she has to be careful just HOW MUCH she earns as being
on disability she can only earn SO MUCH EXTRA

Watching a program on Nostradamus ,the things he saw
are darn right SCARY ....

Glad you can now see it Carole......as for the black pad at the side of the door to the en-suite it's the control for the en-suite underfloor heating.

I hear what you say Carole about Carmen but she's not sitting back and doing nothing she's trying to earn money......Spencer should be pleased about that and what you've said about her she's not 100% well  so I hope it works out for him.....I'm sure you must as well,  I wish Rob & Dawn would find a way of being together.

Sylvia used to have big problems giving blood also Bond.....and of course because of it she used to be really scared, Cliff used to have to go in with her.

Been to small Palmers had a cuppa and then bought David 2 sweaters for his birthday next week.

Loving my book that I'm now reading.

The secret is DRINKING WATER before you go
I always thought when having to fast for blood work
meant JUST THAT ,NOTHING NARDA ,but the nurses
and Dr's all told me talktohand  NO you CAN drink PLAIN water
as I used to have that problem not drinking/eating anything all night
plus they say since gaining the weight years ago my VEINS
ROLL on them Shocked

Ok Got the chicken breasts marinating ,Rice cooking

Morning Vicky ,should have said
when on before ,I DID see your Avatar √
and I said to Bond that refreshing is the FIRST
thing I do if I cannot see something, but yesterday
NOTHING was working ,but after opening up my
this morning THERE it WAS ,very nice indeed ,but did ask
there is what looks like a small "box" right hand side on
the bathroom door ,WHAT is that as it looks like something
you punch in a code to enter somewhere

Was telling you all that I now KNOW why Spencer had so
much on his credit card ,with what he is bringing over here from Carmen's

4 over head ceiling fans with lights
Black glass and stainless steel electric cooker
Black double door stainless steel fridgefood
1 window A/C unit with remote

As much as I hope Carmen is good for him ,I have a feeling when
she hooked up with him she SAW A GOOD THING coming
as my son not only gives his ♥️ he gives everything else as well
Her one problem she does not want to learn to SPEAK more English
apparently she understands it but speaks little

Now both my boys growing up with kids from Puerto Rico speak and understand
Spanish enough to have a conversation,I though am limited in what
I speak or understand confused2 and for THAT reason Spencer says
she does not want to visit me more confused2

Right now she is consumed with selling this Tuppaware   ,I know Spencer
is not thrilled as in the good weather he likes to go out somewhere :driver:
So we will see what happens ....

He will be taking me for the follow up Dr's visit Feb 1st and I should be
able to  4x4  myself on the 8th ,all Blaine has to do is drop me off and come
pick me up when I am "Cooked"  on the 31st
I am only a teeny bit worried ,hate anyone messing with my eyes
told the Dr yesterday he said most people feel the same way ,its not
like I have not had my share of operations over the years ,and they never bother
me ,I think they believe I am a "tough old bird" as I joke around
like when I lost my breasts ,telling the Dr and nurses I always wondered
what it would feel like being able to go TOPLESS like a MAN can in my back garden
and not be arrested for being indecent

Anyway dinner last night was REALLY tasty made Italian sausage cut up with
a sauteed onion then made Penne pasta and added a jar of Italian sausage
onion and GARLIC {I KNOW VICKY I KNOW} tomato sauce and sprinkled
grated cheese on top so it melted   served with the tiniest and sweet
baby peas on the side ...
So when Blaine tells me his dinner was GOOD ,I KNOW it was so  funnytvprog
as he is not normally a "pasta "eater that much

OK I THINK I rewrote ALL I lost so will be back ,today its going to be boneless
Chicken breast done in my Air Fryer and yellow rice

MORNING MARGE have a good day

Well here I be with an appointment
for Jan 31st ,which is a Thursday so Blaine
will ask for that day off to take me and bring me home
and then the follow up with the Dr where I was just now
is the 1st Feb,so hoping Spencer can run me there
Only problem I waited SO LONG got there too early after getting lost
in the medical complex ,went in around 255 and was on the two machines
that measure your eyes ,Then into yet ANOTHER room to await
Dr Sokel ,who explained what would happen ,after he told me
my left eye {lazy eye] was worse than when I was last there in Sept
,but said being as I am far sighted when he does my right eye he
would not be able to let me go with out my glasses ,I said I was not
looking for that having worn specs now for 74 yrs being fitted with my first pair
when I was two {when Mum or Nan could FIND THEM ,as I kept taking
them off and hiding them in all SORTS of places } funnytvprog
I would then need a new prescription for a new pair of glasses as
obviously these will be no good after

So its in the works ....

Vicky I have no idea whats happening ,but your avatar space is STILL BLANK
even while on my
Could you maybe refresh it

Marge hang in there ,but get that electrical work done

Speak tomorrow

I was going to say that Bond about the Boar War Statue which was taken from our local park,  a 5ft bronze statue so it must have weighed a lot and yet some scum bags (had to be a gang to remove it)  just walked off with it.       And look what happened to Astley Castle home of Elizabeth Woodville and Lady Jane Grey, also not far from here, that was bought in the 50's and they tried to turn it into a restaurant without success so they wanted to pull it down, was told they couldn't do that so...puff, one night in 1978 it went up....luckily the ruins were saved in the 2007 and now they're a holiday let with the help of The English Heritage  and Landmark Trust. but we could have lost that for ever......and that fire was suspicious, happened 2 days after the lease had expired.

I think I'll be in bed early tonight.....I'm tired

tired morning

Its this morning ,as they said it would.
I had a restless night and was up and down to the
littlest room 3 or 4 times. I swear my body is
attuned to the weather conditions ,especially to
barometric pressure! Therefore I slept in until now.
(also the other smoke alarm started to chirp which
means it needs a new battery) confused2

Remember the octopus ride at the fair?
that is how these weather fronts are coming in.
We locally seem to be getting the tail end with
the whip in it., not as harsh as other areas north
of us and its going through faster.
Definitely a stay at home day today.

A building left empty for so long is a temptation
for who ever owns it to get rid of it for the insurance,
Having said that, its also open to thieves looking for
copper wire to sell or homeless/drug addicts
setting a fire that got out of control.
We have had statues in the parks stolen for their
melt down value in places here, even brass plaques!

Copper is king as they get more money for it at a
scrap yard so any kind of copper wiring or copper
pipes are a target. They mainly hit construction sites.

Its such a shame that a place built to honour
the Bard is gone.
I must admit that when first mentioned , I
thought it meant the one in Stratford-on-Avon
in the UK.
It make me sick to see stories of old historic buildings
catching fire while under repair. It means someone
was not doing their job properly. Windsor Castle
being a prime example.
It makes me shiver to think that I now face a rewiring job here
so must chose the people who do it very carefully.
That's why I will consult Angie's list who only feature companies
with stellar reputations. That how I have chosen all the outfits
that have done work here. So far I have been very satisfied.
It is not the cheapest way to go but I have peace of mind
that it was done properly.
Mentioning Vera, I am now reading the first Shetland book by
Ann Cleeves, who also wrote the Vera stories.
The TV adaptations are only the bare bones of what is in
the books. I have to laugh, I read it with a scots accent
in my head!
Vera is my favorite though.
Guess I am going to have Brunch today as I have missed
breakfast all together now. TTFN

Hope everything goes well Carole.

No I just had ordinary hot chocolate, no whipped cream for me thank you.

Speak when you get back then Carole, I'll not change my avatar until you have seen it also.,.....the builder is having a good time ripping out all the fitted bedroom furniture from the guest bedrooms, and he's found lots of things behind the drawers etc....a ladies watch in a box and an old ten pound note.....which Susan gave to her FIL to change at the bank for them.

If you want to go and see a good film Bond Bohemian Rhapsody.....now that is good, though we're going to go and see Colette and we want to see the Mary Queen of Scots one also.

Yes the dressing room is looking wow....of course it's now got the carpet down there and in the bedroom.

No and that wasn't just my and  views others coming out were saying "Well all that hype and it wasn't that brilliant"   or just "Wish I hadn't bothered"   odd ending which had  and me looking at each other and going  "Odd ending" but no it wasn't that good.

I'll have a drink of hot chocolate please if there's one going.

Oh we did go to McDonalds afterwards because  wanted some fries and a milk shake....I had a hot chocolate.

New avatar is the dressing room finished with fitted wardrobes on both sides.....one side belongs to Susan the other to Matt.

Well we've been to see "The Favourite"  and I have to say I didn't think it was very good, disappointed.

That's good about the apartment for Carmen.....hope she's very happy there.

But don't get stressed Carole......they'll get everything sorted, no need to worry and make yourself ill for no reason.

Morning Bond
So many people waking up with heavy ♥️
over the theater burning down ,it had been owned
by the State since 2005 as so many organizations
over the years since the last performance 30 yrs ago
tried to come up with a plan on how to reopen it,but
it was mainly the $$$ that was always a stumbling  block

Three men began it back in 1955 when it was built, but after
one died whom I assume was the one with the funds
the place started struggling ,but it did see MANY MANY
famous names perform there as I said the main one
people think about is Katherine Hepburn who had a small
house at one time on the side of the property
where she stayed while performing ,also James Earl Jones ,Christopher Walken ?
Jack Palance Jessica Tandy etc
...SO much history all gone

https://www.ctpost.com/local/article/Shakespeare-theater-fire-a-loss-for-Stratford-13530370.php#

Linda and I were wondering if it was someone trying to find shelter
in the freezing weather we have right now ,but they will find all
that out I am sure ,cannot see the "STATE" burning it down

Coming along Vicky the wardrobe .dressing area √

Cold this morning again 13f right now ...

Have to be at the eye  DR at 240pm ,hope I can remember
how to get there as Spencer took me last time confused2
its not THAT far away ,and the saving grace is after I get it done
where the surgery facility is located a brand new building if I was in better
shape like I used to be able to years ago I could WALK TO AND FROM
it as its THAT CLOSE to our house here in a large medical building on
Quarry RD {you got it so called as it USED to be a quarry} on the top 3rd floor
of a medical building they built and where my Thyroid Dr has an office
very convenient

HUH! they are talking about possible bad weather Friday -Sunday snowy
weather man is saying though its a way off yet so things could change confused2

Alright so Blaine up in the shower
Spencer brought home a ceiling fan yesterday as it looks like Carmen
has found her flat ,brand new place one bedroom third floor with an elevator
all appliances included so being as Spencer bought her
FOUR CEILING light/fans
One Electric glass top STOVE
and a DOUBLE DOOR Fridge ,he will be bringing them here, said he will not
be leaving them for her old landlady as where she was she had to supply
her own {some places come with a stove/fridge}

So he says he will replace the ceiling  fan in the kitchen and Blaine's bedroom
and the spare bedroom as they are what he bought here years ago

He is also getting Carmen's sofa and chair as its in better shape
than his downstairs as all she is taking with her is her bedroom suite
and will be buying a new chattable  and lounge suite  for her new place

I DREAD the exchange as Spencer and Blaine have to get the fridgefood
and stove either up the front stairs or walk it around the side of the house
that is steep and come in via the deck headbanger
Think I will lock myself in a room while they do this as THESE ARE THE THINGS
THAT STRESS ME OUT

I SHALL RETURN

MORNING LADIES run run run run
