First topic message reminder :

Good afternoon all
I think Mr Mr Ray Winston would of sent the boys around to sort it out if people mest about with his granddaughter . I think back to me and if I hadn't met Mrs b on new years eve 50 Years ago I would of been off to Australia with mate who did go as both of us had no home life to speak of boat it was a £10 Pom in those days
Sorry to hear your a bit Moby Dick. Carole
I've got some Brownie points today I've gone around the inside windows cleaning them with .hot water .fairy liquid. And vinegar then polishing them with newspaper but its not like the news paper of our days but they do sparkle now
I had a phone call from M&S saying they were back safe and thanking me for doing the kitchen . Sara has gone to the shop this morning so Michael is putting the things back
I think its time for drinks then its sort out the bottle greens ready for hair cut time

Yes that's what they're called in France Margaret.....we found a great place when we were there years ago with the family, though of course none were lemon & sugar but they were lovely and we went often while we were holidaying.

Have you spoken to your Landlady about the trees yet Carole?

Avatar is the wardrobe in the other large bedroom....the other door has to go on yet and the handles but that bedroom is coming along.   Matt's doing the two guest bedrooms, they've had to send away for the handles because they couldn't find anything which matched the chest of drawers in any of the stores, but they saw some online.

They are known as crepes here.
Our local "Famous" Pancake House
down the road do several versions of them
but also do the lemon and powdered sugar
kind as well.
Its another ritual that Peter and I did each
year but its no fun going alone.

It looks like my washing machine is ready to be replaced.
The dial to set the wash needed is not working as it should.
Its not worth having it fixed as its a model I bought
from the big box DIY store and it already was not
putting the right settings for water temps anyway,
it says cold wash and cold rinse then it comes out
hot and hot! I have been running it on the cold cycle
for months (after I found out where it was)
I will of course have to get a new dryer as well.

I knew it was next on the appliance list so need
to measure up the space again and find out what will
fit in there. The new machines are too big. I don't
need all the new bells and whistles but a good
heavy duty model usually fits the bill.
I am going with the Sears brand, Kenmore this time.
I have had Kenmore's that lasted 18 or more years
at a time so no more General Electric for me.

Both the fridge and dishwasher are Kenmore this
time round. The stove is Kenmore so I can get replace-
ment parts for it. Ian cleaned the outside and cleaned off
the black paint on some of the knobs so you find the High.
medium and low by click!
It also needs new spill trays under the burners as they got
a lot of cleaning after Peters turn as the Magic Chef.
( think the Swedish chef Muppet on the Muppet Show)

That's why we did not make Crepes at home, because
he would want to flip them and he did not have the right
technical knowledge so they either stuck to the ceiling or
ended up on the floor!
By mutual agreement we would go to the Pancake House
and it meant we could stay friends . :-D

The next rain is expected to arrive this afternoon and its coming over
cloudy as I type.

The tree trimmers are still going round the neighborhood but finally
worked out that it was better to trim the trees on the side of the street
that was cleared for street sweeping than try to trim from over the
parked cars. Guess someone got mad about all the leaves and pepper
corns on their cars.
Mine got a short back and sides! Some trees got big branches taken
off!

I have to go out and stock up on more cat food today and kitty grass.
so better get going here. TTFN

David makes great pancakes, when the Sitton Brothers came to visit it was Pancake Day so we all had pancakes and they were shocked at us putting lemon & sugar on them, in Holland they don't have them sweet....but after trying them they loved them

No I don't miss driving Carole though I've still got my car, which we take out once or twice a week.

oh boy forgot it's Shrove Tuesday
have not had those pancakes in yonks (they don't call the thin
ones over here pancakes) as the pancakes over here
that you get by the *stack* ,short stack is I think three
are thicker made
I loved the ones Nan made sprinkled with a little sugar and
lots of fresh lemon juice

So you had a nice little ride out @ Bond

Don't you miss driving Vicky ?

Well the sunny maybe out but it's chilly
So not a lot of melting today or tomorrow when
I get my monthly hair do ,but at least it should be dry
till Friday when they say we might get a few flurries
but going to rain Sunday on the St Patrick's parade
in New Haven

Saw the temps for Tracie today 84f and Marge well
LA should see 67f

So I'm waiting to leave for the Drs
Picked up two more bags of bird seed and pound
of deli ham then $10 more of gas to keep my *boy*
over the 1/2 way mark  then came home

Anyway back later

I love chocolate Bond but talktohand on pancakes Mad

Oh gosh those were the days when I used to drive to there.....though I drove all over the place in those days, the hairdressers moved into the town and I wasn't going to pay to park to go to the hairdressers so I changed to where I go now, which is nearer anyway.  and of course not far from my old hairdressers you would have gone past where SHE used to live when she was growing up and of course across from her parents lives Rosie Goodwin.

We went to Fosse Park and M&S to have a pancake....well you get two and they're lovely, so we've had our pancakes now.......all pancaked out.  Smile

Good afternoon all, I've HD a nice bus ride out, I went to Nuneaton the fast track way it's a MIRA college bus if the college ever gets going, so down the A5 the into the MIRA nobody gets on or off so in and out then Higham lane into Nuneaton very fast
the reason for my trip was as I am clearing out some of the stuff in the roof I had a old ammunition tin box to take 303 rounds on a belt like you see being carried with a machine gun, anyway my dad had this as his documents box, so I knew a stall in the flea market did military things so asked him I'd he wanted it I was thinking on the bus down if he offered me £5:00 I would take it well any way he didn't really want it as it was too new He thought 50s the not war years so a man that was looking at things on the stall said I'll give you £10 for it I came back a little lighter but with a extra £10
Then had a mystery trip home as I normally catch the 48 to Atherstone but the 71was in also going to Atherstone but the driver said it goes all around the house but ends up at Atherstone so having nothing else to do with on I gets, well done up by the hospital and through all the estates by the hair dresser that you use to go to in stockingford up to chapel end, Ridge Lane, Burtchly Heath, through the blue bell woods, Coleshill Road and into Atherstone well as its pancakes day Atherstone is all boarded up like Dodge City as its the ball game, worth a look at on YouTube
Coffee and a thin pancake

It's lovely out there sunny  and Benjie is lying on the back of the sofa sunbathing, as he does. Smile

Oh David always get really lovely cards for me with lovely words.

Yes I didn't think he'd get that far when early on he didn't know where Royal Jelly came from and had to ask the audience  Mad

Thanks for the yummy breakfast.

I'll have to have a love at the bird on David's iPad so I can enlarge the photo.

Morning Bond, yes that whole town in Alabama
wiped out with a F4 170+MPH winds Tornado
it was a MILE wide and I believe 20miles LONG
it came on them so fast a lot were caught
with out warning

Cold here this morning temps ranging anywhere
from 9f to 19f {-12c-7c} so as promised snow
piles not melted or cleared away are solid this morning.

15 days to SPRING though    cheers

I only have to go see Dr Sokal to check my  eye
and that is not until 220pm otherwise I am free....

Hope everyone had a good  Sleep  Sleep  Sleep
I seemed to get more zzzz last night

Spencer stayed home after getting in from work
and was over two hours sorting the garage around so he could
get his car back in   said the fridge and stove and Carmen's
sofa etc will have to stay there until the weather improves
and he and Blaine can get mine out {stove and fridge} and bring
those up here...

Anyway I shall return at some time or the other so be good if you can  Shocked

Hi all, Cadbury whisper mmmm mmmmm
Well with my home upbringing I would of been in Oz but for a meeting on new years Eve. I still left as soon as I could with a deposit on a place of my own that became our own
Just watching who wants to be a millionaire
And a man from Brum has walked away with half a million not bad for half hour
So off to bed
See you for breakfast I'll  mind the ladder doesn't slip

We never did anything big ,when Gil was still :driver:
he always bought me a doz  roses and a nicely worded card
he was like Spencer has always been ,finding that *perfect*
card that said just the right thing
I used to get him a card and his lotto cards or some *suck*
as he always called it funnytvprog

Yes this last storm  Bond was not like the other that we got
the other day that we got  4" out of that was light and fluffy kind
that always worried me with Blaine having that ,clip in his brain
even though it's been 19 yrs come June it happened I still
worry when he exerts himself like shovelling snow ...
I saw a bunch of Daffodils that come up in the corner
behind my Knockout roses out don't starting to come up
when they say this lot they will probably go back to sleep funnytvprog

confused2  Well you know the story of my home life Carole.

We don't do the big gifts either Bond.....unless it's a special one and then it's the kids who do  the big ideas. otherwise, no it's just a card and some flowers from David. and a card from Susan....Steve and Rob don't bother and that's fine.

Shaping up to be a nice room Vicky

Morning Bond ,glad Mrs B was not home
then ,so your bacon was saved @ funnytvprog

Morning Marge ,too bad Ian is risking getting
into hot water, even though it's nice he wants to
be there for his 20th anniversary

Hope Melanie got back to you though ...

I think the reason I was *older* than my years
when I met Gil when I was almost 15 and he was almost 18
was all due to the relationship I had with my step father
Cannot go into details on here too much ,but it was one of the
reasons Gil wanted to get me out of there
My step father  had a mean streak  that surfaced in
different forms ,one was by getting my mother pregnant
so she would not leave him ,which she was contemplating
after Wendy was around 4,while mum was walking me home
from a friend's party ,he took off with her leaving the house
wide open lights all on and went to his mother's house  ,unfortunately they
got back together and to make SURE she stayed ,my brother Dean
was born 9 mths later or  there about
I could go on .......
I know we were very young ,but we knew what we wanted
and I believe had we not left the UK ,we would never have broken up
in the first place

Did you spray after   left then, did she approve ?

So Bond what did you get Mrs B ,hope it was something nice

Watching the last NCIS LA that I recorded yesterday as I was
watching it most of yesterday afternoon ,love it as their stories
are not so far out like some programs are .
Still sunny here 37f ,so as long as your sidewalks were cleared
you will be ok as it's going to all freeze up later tonight

Ian's wife should tell him just to put his mind to the part, that they can have a lovely romantic  anniversary meal after the play has closed even it being months later.

David and I were both 22 when we got married, him in the January, me 3 days after my 22nrd though I don't think either of us were grown up enough for marriage at that time.   I started work at 15 as well and I used to do all the washing etc while I was at home but I still wasn't gown up enough for marriage.....it wasn't until I was 27 that one day I thought "I'm now ready for marriage"  I'd got 2 kids by then. confused2  We got married because he was just finishing Uni though he was on the part which took him away for 6 months (how I met him) and we knew he'd be sent anywhere when he finished and got a job as a Civil Engineer and we didn't want to be apart for months on end....so we took the plunge.  We wouldn't have got married so fast if he had been in a regular 9-'5 job..

New avatar is more of one of the guest bedrooms yet to have the duvet, pillowcases and sheet to put on the bed the room is now carpeted..

Just watching the programme which comes on the TV about the RNLI and we've seen Nathan who is a mate of Matt & Susan's.....he used to be Susan's boss.  He was talking about this shout they went on which we then saw.....such brave guys.  I always put some money in an RNLI box if I see one as well as the Air Ambulance.

A nice dry morning this morning but
the wet stuff is just around the corner.

I tried calling Melanie but I only got her answering machine
so sang happy birthday to her and let her know that I did
send some money to her directly into her account.
They were either at a meeting or out having a meal somewhere.

Last episode of Victoria for this season last night.
I often wonder what its like to be a dress or costume designer
on a show like that, as the number of costumes for both
men and women in each episode is astounding!
The quality of production is first class.

Ian is due to start rehearsals today in London.
He has also decided to drive up to Wales in the Mazda MX5
so he has some transportation if he should need it.
Its hard to have to rely on lifts from cast mates or
take the bus. Where he will be,takes two separate trains
and takes about 5 hours of journey time(if you are lucky)
The weather is going to be a factor if he decides to
try and make it back to London to see his wife and get
back to Wales in a timely fashion. He thinks the director
might have harsh words for such a plan.

It would be so dumb for him to lose his part over it.
He needs the money to replace what he had to spend
to keep he and Rebecca afloat all those months he was
not working very much.
He talks to her every day when they are apart anyway.
( which Peter also did when I was away from him).
I told him, sometimes you have to put your big boy
pantson and act like an adult.

Peter was a month shy of 21 when we got married and I
was 19 and a 1/2 . We both knew that we did not want
to be parted for 2 years while he was a student at Cranfield.
As you say Carole, a lot more mature than most for our
age.
Starting working for a living at 15 will do that to you.

Bond, we have all had days like that so don't take it too
badly. It could have been much worse than it was.
You could have had burns in a very delicate place. affraid
You should know by now only women can successfully
multi task. tongue

Its back to the grindstone today, have my list ready but I
just found out that my ipad is having a little breakdown,
no internet connection it says but my main desk one seems
to be working just fine. TTFN

Avatar taken at 615am before Blaine started to clear
the bottom of the driveway and before Spencer cleared
off the cars so they could get out
onto the road where the plow had made a clearing
Both gone now to work

Morning Vicky ..

You would have to SEE what I mean
about the grass verge here where we live now
the grass area goes towards the road then there is
a slope before the road starts where I pull my 4x4
up onto ,at an ANGLE so its not on the "grass" that
i mow ..

Nice window area in your new avatar BTW
Do not know why this site shows a different
picture if your not on a desk weird confused2

Anyway you have fun with

Morning........and  is coming around, she wants to see Susan's photos of the work they're doing.

What I meant Carole was it was Dusty Springfield on Bond's avatar not a kitchen so I was seeing the right avatar.

On the grass verge Carole but that ruins it.  confused2  the grass not the car.

Ok back later.....have fun Bond.

No Vicky I WAS talking about Bonds
avatar ...
Bond sent you a picture of what I'm seeing

Boy they are RIGHT on time in this storm ,it's 5pm
and it's just started snowing ,light right now but
they have increased the totals ,saying up to 12"
for Bridgeport now ,guess we shall see as it plays out

I do not normally park in our driveway as normally have to leave
the garage doors clear for Spencer to get in but being as he
is also parking in the driveway I figured I would pull in
and he can park behind me this way we will have no snow to clear

I normally park right in front of our house but try to pull
up as far as I can on the grass verge  as I always worry
when the city plows come down ,and also think it's why they
do not clear as much because there are vehicles parked along
the road
They normally tell you it's alternate parking ,today I would have been
legally ok ,but some in the street do not move as there are so many
cars in each house they HAVE to park in the street ,and until
the police in force the law it remains the same ,hard for the plows
to clear the street now it SHOULD be ,in big storms they are supposed to make
more than one sweep ,but because of cars parked on BOTH SIDES here
they end up just coming down ONE TIME leaving a track right down the middle
so you end up having to dig out feet of snow to reach that in order to get out

Ok enough hoping my lads come home sooner than later

Speak tomorrow

Ah but we only go from the Saturday to the Monday so I only need 4 changes of clothes, just in case I need or want to wear something else one of the days.  confused2 talktohand  but but we might have the other large bedroom which has a built in wardrobe    but hey as I said we only need 4 changes of clothes so it all depends on which we fancy....could use the small bedroom but I don't think we will, it'll be one of the large bedroomss.    Oh David's just informed me that wardrobe is the one which was in our bedroom at the other house and it was far from small, crumbs I got loads of stuff in it from time to time it just looks small in that avatar. Some of Susan's clothes were also in there as well as what David had taken with him so it's far from small.  That was the chest of drawers also, thought it was, wasn't sure about the wardrobe though but it is..

Avatar is some more of the furniture in that bedroom.....they've got to put the mirror on top of the dressing table yet and dress up the furniture (vases and such like) and move the long mirror.

Kitchen for Bond's avatar Carole I'm seeing Dusty Springfield.....will have to borrow David's iPad.

Coventry was known for it's watchmakers Margaret.....love the engraved ones.

And a  Melanie.....have a great one.   present present present

Checked a couple of Coventry web sites and found out that
the Blue Coat School was founded in 1714.
I need to check the records I have but believe that my
GG Grandmothers ties to the school did not start until much
later (at least that's the first record I have of her)
One of the Caldicote girls married Thomas Chapman
who took up his FIL baton. He was a watch engraver
by day.
There was a Caldicote who was mayor of Coventry way
back then. I don't know if they were related or not.
There seems to have been a lot of them in Warwickshire
at the time.
I got a similar result when I looked up Porters in Essex ,
There were scads of them. Over 200 George Porters alone!

We started of with foggy drizzle here this morning but the sun is
trying to break through the clouds at the moment.

I will say one thing about my daughter who turned 57 today,
she is the ultimate survivor. she had a heart murmur discovered
in St. Louis before she entered school there and hers was the only
surgery to go right the day they operated on her(the other children
were having patches put on their hearts which did not take).
We were told that Melanie would have died in her teens if it
had not been found when it was, she was 7 at that point.

She came down with Crohn's at 18 and was down to 73lbs at
one point and the Doctor said if they could not stop the bleeding
she would not survive longer that 10 days.
(this was in the early days of Aids, when I think of all the blood
transfusions she had I shake my head)
She was close to dying from a deadly cocktail of drugs and alcohol
in her late 20s but got her life under control(for which I am
ever grateful) she has had 6 or 7 surgeries, each time the
outcome was in doubt. The last one just over a year ago was the
nail biter as they had to rush her back into surgery hours
later with complications.
That really scared the poo-poo out of us.

She has had 3 husbands who were all in recovery but were
not as stubborn as she was about her recovery.
Number 4 has had several attempt to get clean but seems to
not be able to do it longer than 6 months. This April will
be his 12th month of being clean. She has stood by him
which has caused her a lot of stress which could have triggered
off her Crohn's again. I don't know if I could have gone through that.
She has definitely beaten the odds to get this far.

I will be giving her a call later.

Ian starts his rehearsals soon and is worried because he might be
in Wales on their Anniversary. he is more concerned about that than
what awaits him to do with the play. He is such a romantic like his Dad.
This is the BIG 20 year one.

Well, I had better get moving here. Lots to take care of in the next
few days before the Termite man cometh. TTFN

slurp thanks BOND just what
I needed
The store at 8am was swamped compared
to how it normally is when I do my weekly
shopper ,once again because shoppers
were panicking all over what might only be around
8" starting around 5 pm

I woke at 4am so thought I would feed  catmilkbowl
before he woke ME up by bouncing on my bed
Then I lay back down and before I knew it it was
630 ,Spencer spent the night at carmen's after helping
her finish up taking what was left at her old apartment
so guess the new place allows over night visitors as
long as they do not reside there on a regular basis as
being as she's on Section 8 and disability where she
gets help with her rent she has *rules* she has to follow

Anyway it's sunny and 41f now

Just threw a lasagna together for tomorrow ,made the
boys work sarnies ,washed the whites I did not get to
yesterday hoover and threw the pots n pans into
the dish washer as I'm about ready to collapse
Blaine went back to bed after bringing the grocery bags
up stairs for me

Any who one of two questions Bond whose kitchens that ?
and Vicky is that a closet at Susan's ,if it's for when you
visit your going to have to leave some things at home funnytvprog

Morning Marge see you logged on

Did you not read the bit I  about you chewing on my window sill?

Oh Margaret you were asking about detectives in the Midland's I'd forgotten "Shakespeare & Hathaway" they're private investigators, it's funny, though they do solve the murder, it's set in Stratford.   their office is in one of the Tudor buildings.  It's back on the TV at the moment.  Shakespeare is played by Mark Benton and Hathaway is played by Jo Joyner (who used to be in Eastenders Bond Max Brannings wife, the blonde attractive one) she was also Stephanie Mills in "Spooks" oh lots of things Mark Benton has done loads of things he was in . "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)" way back and also "Waterloo Road" Bond Chalky the maths teacher , "Murphy's Law" he was in "Hustle","Land Girls" he took part in Come Dancing and got to week 10 oh he's been in lots of things and their sidekick is Patrick Walshe-McBriide who is brilliant and I want to adopt him.
