| We are moving on a pace . This morning at 9:30am a roofing contractor is coming to give us a quote for fixing the roof.
Ian found some replacement vent covers for around the base of the outside walls, So no more pesky critters under the house. Ian cleaned out the rain gutters on the front of the house. Even with covers on them, the dirt builds up in them and clogs the down spouts. We went down to try our new B of A cards at the ATM. Mine worked OK but Ian's got shut out. After having one of the nice ladies who work there, get on the phone to check that all was in order, I went out with him to the machine and noticed he did not press the green button. On doing so, it worked and he got his money. It was hard to see as the machine is on the west side of the bank and the screen was almost unreadable with the sun on it.
The lady banker was from Nigeria originally and has relatives in the UK. She picked up on Ian's accent before mine. We managed to make her laugh when I said my children and I have an easy relationship with money, I've got it, and they need it! We set things up so we can wire money from our accounts to each other when needed. Me for paying for something and they paying me back.
Debating whether to call the 1-880- got- junk to come and pick up the studio sleeper unit. The charities won't take mattresses . We have had it for a couple of decades now and it served us well but its taking up a lot of room in this bedroom and I could get a fresh new sleeper chair for in here. They hide a single mattress inside what looks like a lounge chair. (Thats for a bit later though.) Lazy Boy brand make nice ones. (Big popular brand here) While Ian was on the roof, I waded through the mass of paperwork. I filled two paper sacks full just in a couple of hours. Ian left here a bit early so he could take a dip in the ocean after being on the roof in the afternoon heat. There is a get together for a BBQ at Jeffs house this weekend for what we called, The "California Mafia". This was the group that went to Ian's wedding in London. All wore Hawaiin shirts and sunglasses on the Grooms night out. They looked like mobsters in their tail suits wearing the dark glasses on the wedding day! That was 22 years ago now. how time flies.
Its cloudy again this morning and only 66f but it is early yet. High is expected to be 70f Later. High for this date was 96f in 2005, Average for this date is usually about 78f. Ian has arrived so better stop waffling and get cracking here. XXX

| Afternoon......and yes it missed us Bond.
I suppose the one boy was you Bond?
If I had my time over I'd be 19, and not give my virginity away to someone who said "If you're saving it for him, you're never going to meet him, so I thought, after weeks of "Oh please" I thought "Oh what the hell.....then I did meet him, but when I was 21 I was billies into giving him up.....wish I'd stood up to them. In fact my Gran did the same with my Mum and bullied her into giving my Dad up and not telling him she was pregnant. What a silly pair we were.
That's good that you don;t have to buy a new microwave. And gosh Margaret don't try and stand on the stool.
Ah so it's a spinning wheel Bond.......well hang on to that because lots of Nursery stories has a spinning wheels

| Well, certain things are zipping along but others are not. Still no Roofer in sight but have a lead on another one. Through our local neighborhood hardware store, ACE. They have good connections to all contractors in my local area. Should have thought of it sooner. It's only a repair job after all. Cannot be on top form all the time. Woke 3 times during the night and not for the usual stroll to the pink throne. We went to In N Out burgers for lunch yesterday, a very popular place in one of the very large parking areas near Home Depot DIY place. Ian has the portable A/C working again, after buying a new extension bar. I finished off the main bathroom after he left to go and visit one of his friends yesterday. I do not need a new Microwave as the one I have, seems to be working OK now. I just need a cap for the old exhaust pipe for the dryer. No one explained that it was a new type with no old type exhaust needed. It collects excess water from the clothes and puts it in a small tank. The "Fluff" goes into another area and it only needs cleaning out every month or so. The water tank and internal Fluff collector I empty after every load. Ian replaced both kitchen ceiling bulbs with new ones for me. I still do not feel strong enough to stand on the step stool and reach over my head to do it.
Sorting makes more mess but its the only way to find what can be donated and what needs to be thrown away or kept. I have been doing it one box or container at a time. It's a slow way to do it but I need to just focus and not get distracted.
He has problems at home as his wife is supervising a contractor rebuilding their boundary fence between their garden and the public pathway to the school. It's not going as fast as she would like but sometimes you have to wait for the concrete base to set. before putting the wooden fence back in place. A tiny section in their property documents says the fence is their responsibility to keep repaired. So another 6,000 pounds of their savings gone.
Their city has declared bankruptcy so all city offices are closed down and no one is answering the phones or emails. Ian's wife was in a panic because the workers left early not realizing that they had other jobs going at the same time while the concrete sets. This was the only time on his calendar to fit them in. I know Ian is getting frustrated with me at times, but I have not been in any shape to cope with anything more than what needed to be done everyday for about 4 months. he forgets he has not been here for 2 1/2 years now. Melanie has had health problems and her husband has had health problems too. She wants me to move up to where she is. but I am not moving with a 16 year old cat! The trip alone just might kill her! Ian has been able to do so much so far that most of his list is crossed off. Its all small stuff individually but looks big when on a long list. I have to work in small patches and not try and do it all in one day. Ian just arrived so time tp stop waffling and get cracking.

| Have to say National Trust is showing itself up, it's gone Trans and Lacock being connected to Harry Potter and the writer JK Rowling saying "Only real women can have a womb" they've stopped looking after Lacock, they used to make sure they always got a tenet for the houses, but they've stopped, so the gardens are being looked after, well the neighbours mostly do but if the neighbours don't the National Trust do nothing. Talk about childish. | |

| Sometimes you don't SEE something until it hits you in the face. I looked at my erasure board again yesterday to check on the appointments I had written there days earlier and the penny dropped. My Appointments are NEXT month not today! it the 10th month not the 9th! (You do know that America puts the month first ahead of the date and year!) It still throws me after all this time. Ian arrived earlier than I expected yesterday. He says the international automatic check worked very well so slid through the usual hold ups which can take a couple of hours usually. I was napping, good job he knocked on the door instead of letting himself in with the key! I messaged Cindy yesterday and she is tracking down the roofing man she trusts who is just starting on a similar roof repair for one of her friends. She can also recommend an electrician who she has used before. These guys are all local as well. Some of the bigger firms would bump up the costs including the cost of petrol used to get them here and back every day for however long the repair took. These people like whole roof repairs as it makes the most money for them. I do not need a whole roof redone. I only have one spot where there is damage. plus the rain gutters need to be cleaned out. They do have covers on them to keep out the leaves but the dust and dirt that comes down with the heavy rain clogs up the down spouts. Ian will be here shortly and he can work his magic on the computer while I carry on sorting things that I started a few days ago. Its 64f at present with high humidity levels and poor air quality and high pollen count. The high should be 73f today and partly sunny. Record high for this date was 106f in 2010. The average temp is usually 78f for this date. It's a shame that all the old mansions and castles cannot be saved but the places like the National Trust cannot take on more than a few at a time. Thank goodness the cottages in Priory Row came under their care but to turn them into B & B s has meant that the inside has been altered in many ways not in keeping with the outside. Its someone's idea of what it might have looked like but with modern things like showers and a proper kitchen. I wonder if the privy is still at the end of the patio garden at the back. G. G. grandfather was a silk weaver so he must have had a loom in the top shop. It's a space that runs the width and breathed of the floor below. It was where my grandfather made my child's high desk. He also bred canaries up there. He was wounded in WW1 and got sent home, so he took to breeding canaries for other wounded soldiers as company and their lovely singing was very soothing. It helped his recovery I know. G. grandfather was a watch maker who became a watch engraver. He had his workspace in the little parlor at the front of the house. Both men held offices with Holy Trinity church. Clerk and Sexton I believe. Time for breakfast here so TTFN XXXX | |

Yes Bond I've seen the inside of Atherstone hall, and the history, ok to walk round and see the lovely carvings etc but I wouldn't like to live there. Luckily Shenton Hall is still still there too.
Carole yes I did tell you a few times that you'd stretch the page but only because you'd told others they'd stretched the page, so I was just saying you'd done the same.
Later. | |

No or on for the and no L & L I am not familiar with this Shenton Hall Vicky its a shame though the way ALL over they pull down buildings that are well built and have a history to replace them with houses or buildings that do not LAST as long etc As to you telling me I had stretched the page ,YOU DID a FEW times especially if I had copied something and posted it Then we had to wait until it went back to normal I hope Ian arrived safe and sound Marge and that you get good news from your eye test today and let the GAMES BEGIN Ian helping you Weather here 46f FEELS LIKE 42f right now but will at least be today Looks like showers for Atherstone this afternoon highs in the upper 60's but cloudy right now same for Nuneaton Well I had better get cracking and tidy up in here BOND WHERE ARE YOU _________________ Carole B [i]

| Yes I bet those in those houses didn't like having our houses built.
Though I remember 2 of our neighbours going to the Hall and taking off all the things they could before it was knocked down.
Not the same as Shenton Hall Carole and Margaret ....this was a different Hall. that was knocked down.

| Can't remember me saying that Carole, once the page goes it goes back to normal. Doesn't bother me. As the ads don't either.
Gosh Bond 56 no age at all.....never seeing her grandchildren grow up.
You'll be saying "I can remember when is used to be all fields when I was retired" when they talk about this area.
I'll have a hot chocolate please Bond..
Avatar which I'm sure Bond knows....Shenton Hall. We'd gone for a drive and found this.

| Its been the same here believe it or not. When we first arrived here, Los Angles was surrounded by Orange groves and one area was nothing but dairy farms. They ran their own places for buying milk, butter and eggs in town. All moved further away as more space was needed for housing. This state was the dropping off point for all the military coming back from the Pacific after the war. There were a lot of manufacturing plants here and the climate was more to their liking after being in the tropics. There was a housing boom like you would not believe which lasted into the late 50s. The tract that we live in was first built on in 1947. It's etched into the curb in places. Our area was started in 1954. There were some self built houses at one end which you could buy the plans for from the local catalog of the times. Sears was selling everything the settlers needed back in the old days of train and horse wagon days. | |

| It's Lily's 15th birthday today. And my other 3 grandchildren have gone to Uni. Heard Laura's settled in already, Matthew's 2nd year of course. Not heard how Jack's getting on.....I suppose it's early days, but as I said Laura's really settled in. Yes it rained about 11.30am but then fried up. Oh no Carole I just asked for tea didn't say I as taking it upstairs. BTW yes you can stretch the page if you do an ad link but not until you get to the end of the line. that's the way Bond and I always did it, you and Margaret take small lines, why are you now telling Bond he's stretched the page when all he's done is type to the end of his sentence? | Most of our state autumn fairs are over now. The Burning Man festival in Arizona was well attended, although it got a lot of rain which created deep mud which kept everyone from leaving as no real roads into the area set up for it. Well, Ian should be at Heathrow by now, he usually messages me to let me know he is at least at the airport. It's a later flight than he normally takes. He should arrive on my doorstep around 7pm tonight here.
In our neck of the woods there are 3 main chemists shops almost on every corner, CVS, Rite Aide and Walgreens. The corporations that own them are closing the ones that are under performing.
A lot of medical clinics are going over to mailed prescription services. I was offered the choice but my pharmacy is so close and one cannot trust the mail these days to get a new prescription to you before the old one expires.
Did a really dumb thing last night. I was putting laundry detergent in the washing machine and the jug slipped out of my hand and took a dive behind the dryer, Luckily the cap was on but in trying to retrieve it, I had to move the dryer slightly which disconnected the vent from the back. It such a tight space that the washing machine needs to be pulled out to reconnect the vent and then the washing machine can be back in place. I have small apartment size machines but are too heavy for me to move around. It will have to wait on Ian.
Tomorrow will be very busy as I have a doctors appointment at 9:30am and an eye clinic appointment at !:20pm. The offices are only a mile or so away from each other. So can come home between appointments. I will wait on having lunch until I find out if I need more eye drops in my eyes.
It's one of the saddest parts of growing older, Losing more friends and neighbors. I lost 2 relatives and 2 friends last year in just over 8 weeks. All in their 70s. Most were from cancer of one type or another.
Our Usual suspects are not into organizing a get together but we may do one at Thanksgiving. It's been very quiet on the street I guess we are all getting ready for what our winter weather pattern will be this time. I just want the hole in my roof fixed. I think the rest of the roof is fine for now but the gutters need seeing to. If I do not appear tomorrow, do not fret. It's just Ian pushing to get as much done as possible. I guarantee I will sleep well tomorrow night. XXXX

Yes we had a very handicapped Man in the Stroke Club, was in a wheelchair, couldn't use one hand, so his meals had to be cut up and he couldn't talk but he was so jolly.
Later then. great photo Bond.
