| There were five who died that day on Capitol Hill Margaret, one policeman and four of the rioters . Wow yes you've certainly found your get up and go Margaret. Yes Bond at Clevedon Pier they've got benches all along and some of them have "Dedicated to blah blah" some have stories "I'll always remember this was where I first met my dear wife blah blah" one has "Blah will you marry me Blah" we often said "She must have said yes for the plaque to still be here" some great stories. We bought loads of Jigsaw's during Covid too Carole, we still have one which bought me one Christmas about 2 years ago which is really nice but not got round to starting it yet. I always say OJ Simpson got away with murder Carole, that glove incident was a fiasco... he was in prison this time for Armed Robbery and kidnapping two Antique Dealers, if he was trying to get his items back there must have been an easy a way of doing it. the police? Oh that's us Margaret we never go quickly when it's an inquiry......you have found your Mojo btw. Oh and Ian. | |

| Funny, I had an upset tummy yesterday also, think it was the Blueberries I had on my Cheerios for breakfast. I could not do the urine capture the Dr. wanted me to. I got up at 6am this morning and did a clean sample and drove it to the Drs office as they opened at 8am. On the way back I picked up the prescriptions that had been ready since Wednesday. Next on the agenda is to wash my hair and call Supercuts to see what time I can get in there. After that its off to Brians office to drop off my tax papers (He put me down as late filer) and on the way back I can stop off at Cost Plus to pick up some more Yorkshire Gold tea. I have a taste for Tomato soup, I had Mixed veggies soup yesterday, And some crackers with Margarine and thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Has a few grapes with them(both white and red) I could have had some slices of apple instead. Its amazing what I can do now I am BP pill free for 4 weeks. I may run out of energy by lunch time! I can now set up a dentist appointment in 4 weeks time to have another Xray done to see if the gum has healed over enough to get the bridge started. Had a long talk with Melanie yesterday and she thinks I am heading in the right direction with the antidepressant/ anxiety meds. She is taking some too. Its Ian's 60th birthday today. I thought it was only his 59th. Time is moving too fast. Yes Vicky I have been catching up on the inquiry shown Live on U tube. Its taken so long for the problem to come this far and there can be no court case until this inquiry is done and a result has been given. then its time for the police to decide if there is a case here. It still will not cure what those innocent people were put through. even if the whole bunch take an early retirement instead of being fired , they will still be eligible for a pension. It could take so long that most will die before they see any money. The whole government should be ashamed that this was allowed to happen. So far what I see is the legal covering of behinds. its going to be someone else's fault not theirs. I have been on Juries where this kind of thing is being fought out in court. It ends up with there being a settlement made in most cases. No amount of money will ever replace the years and agony of going through what the Sub Post office people have been going through. Its been a terrible price for them to pay. Branded criminals, lost jobs, lost homes, lost friends and family. and sent to jail and lost their standing in their community. Most of all lets not forget the people who took their own lives because they could not stand the shame through no fault of their own. We saw Capitol police officers here commit suicide after the Jan 6th attack on the Capitol building because they could not stop the Capitol from being invaded. They felt they had let everyone down by not being able to stop the Mob. This was how dedicated to serving their country and its representatives on that day they were. Only one of the rioters was shot and killed who was armed and wanted to get to the Vice president who was to close out and finalize the vote count which made Mr. Biden president. At least a dozen officers were treated for PTSD and never worked again. The Capitol Police position is a valued office that only the best of the best get chosen for. The rioters are still being prosecuted and jailed from that day. It does not help the families of those whose lives were taken. These were good men doing their jobs to the best of their ability. I feel that every Sub post officer feels the same way, a loyalty to those they serve. and those Goons in charge had no right to do what they did. The rest of the government is hiding behind an invisible legal shield waiting for the final result. | |

Well it was lovely to hear that Canada have voted to keep our Royal Family and to hear them singing "God save the King"

| Well Lord Arbuthnot gave a very damning report.
Senior executives at the Post Office suggested that "lots and lots of cash lying around in unexpected places" might have meant sub-postmasters were led "into temptation", rather than accept IT failings, an official inquiry has heard.
The inquiry into faulty Horizon IT software at the Post Office, and the associated prosecution of hundreds of sub-postmasters for theft and false accounting, heard evidence from former North East Hampshire MP Lord Arbuthnot on Wednesday.
He was a champion of victims in the late 2000s and 2010s and appeared in the ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office, which reinvigorated interest in the scandal's miscarriages of justice.
As well as those who were wrongly prosecuted many more wracked up significant debts, lost their homes, were ostracised from their communities and suffered ill health, while some left the country. More than £1m claimed as 'profit' may have come from victims
Rather than accept the IT system's failings, senior officials within the Post Office told Lord Arbuthnot that sub-postmasters were led "into temptation", he told the inquiry.
"Alice Perkins [former Post Office chair] and Paula Vennells [former chief executive] had both raised the problem of there being lots and lots of cash lying around in unexpected places," Lord Arbuthnot said.
"I do not know whether that point - which Alice Perkins made strongly - affected her approach towards the honesty or otherwise of sub-postmasters," the peer added in his witness statement to the inquiry.
Minutes recorded of what Ms Vennells said during a meeting with MPs in 2012 read: "It appears that some sub-postmasters have been borrowing money from the Post Office account/till in the same way they might do in a retail business, but this is not how the Post Office works. "Post Office cash is public money and the Post Office must recover it if any goes missing."
As early as March 2013 Lord Arbuthnot said he told the Post Office that its convictions of sub-postmasters could be unsafe as evidence of flaws within Horizon had been unearthed by forensic accountants Second Sight, who were hired by the organisation to investigate allegations.
Lord Arbuthnot felt this evidence undermined convictions and showed there was a risk the Post Office wasn't doing its duty to disclose any evidence that might undermine its prosecution case or help sub-postmaster defendants.
Second Sight found Fujitsu - the company behind the Horizon system - could access Post Office accounts remotely.
Lord Arbuthnot told the inquiry: "If Fujitsu or the Post Office can manipulate a sub-postmaster's account without the post business knowing about it, then how can you prosecute that sub-postmaster for something which could not be provably down to the postmaster?"
He added this fact alone undermined the "standard of proof required in a criminal trial".
Sub-postmaster victims of the faulty software were told they were the only ones having problems with Horizon - something Lord Arbuthnot found "profoundly wrong" and intimidating, as he was aware of several cases.
"There was something at the back of my mind which continued to trouble me, which was these people who were being told, 'you are the only person this is happening to'.
"And that struck me as being profoundly wrong, because first - it was obviously disprovable. They were not the only people it was happening to.
"Second, it was isolating those sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses so they could not get support from others in the same position.
"And third, it had an element of intimidation about it, all of which set the Post Office and its way of operating with its sub-postmasters in a bad light."
Lord Arbuthnot said even 'Government refusing to take responsibility'
The whole nature of the government's hands-off approach to the Post Office, which it entirely owns, came in for criticism from Lord Arbuthnot as the inquiry heard he had contacted numerous government ministers about the injustices.
"What this arm's length arrangement essentially means is the government is refusing to take the responsibilities that go with ownership," he said.
"If you have an organisation that is as important to the community as the Post Office is, then the people have got to be able to have proper control over it."
Lord Arbuthnot also accused the Post Office of "stringing MPs along" in a "behind-the-scenes deception process" to cover up issues with the Horizon system.
He said the organisation grew increasingly defensive in 2013 after the investigation by Second Sight.
The peer said: "They knew there was a large number of bugs in the system that they hadn't told MPs about.
"That's what I know now, but I didn't know that then."
The peer also told the inquiry he was not satisfied with the "brush-off" response he received from Ms Vennells after he raised concerns over sub-postmaster complaints about the Horizon system.
During her time as managing director, Ms Vennells defended the Horizon system when it was queried by the former MP, describing it as "robust".
In a statement this week after the inquiry resumed, Paula Vennells said: "I continue to support and focus on cooperating with the inquiry and expect to be giving evidence in the coming months.
"I am truly sorry for the devastation caused to the sub-postmasters and their families, whose lives were torn apart by being wrongly accused and wrongly prosecuted as a result of the Horizon system.
"I now intend to continue to focus on assisting the inquiry and will not make any further public comment until it has concluded."
Later on Wednesday afternoon, the inquiry heard from Sir Anthony Hooper, who chaired the working group that ran the mediation scheme, which consisted of members of the Post Office, Justice For Subpostmasters Alliance and forensic accountants from the firm Second Sight.
He said he knew "by at least the middle of 2014" that "there was likely to have been serious miscarriages of justice".
"My initial view (was) that it was very unlikely that these people had stolen money.
"I wanted people who (had) probably already left prison, people who had suffered so badly, I wanted everyone to get on, identify the miscarriages of justice by one route or another."
Paula Vennells was the one who is on tape saying Horizon had serious faults in 2005 she was the top person in the Post Office and yet she allowed these sub postmasters to go to prison.
I think that is giving evidence Margaret......
The Police are also investigating. It wont get brushed under the rug Margaret

| I got a same day appointment yesterday afternoon. Spent some time explaining what I had thought was a way to ease some of my stress and anxiety. The Dr agreed with me! I am picking up a prescription for a low dose of generic Zoloft (which I was given right at the beginning) I will have 4 weeks to record my BP at home and then check in with her again. The Dr. had my Blood tests done again and I will have a urine sample in a few hours time.
Would you believe the Post Office Horizon inquiry is on U tube Live this morning! Watched a little of it but its a typical question and answer session, more like a deposition than giving evidence. it would be how they would question Harry about his visa problem. (A judge does have all his paperwork now), its deciding who gets first crack at it. It usually done without a lawyer present. You do have to swear an oath that what you say is the truth but he must have said that when he got his visa. Trouble is every member of the government here swore that oath on entering the service to the government and the people and it seems they have forgotten it. You pledge allegiance to the flag and what it stands for, not to a president or Party. You are promising to live by the laws of this country no matter where you come from. No matter what your religion or politics are. No matter what position or title you held in another country. No one is above the law but some people think it does not apply to them. Peter and I went through this for a Green Card (A permanent residents visa) we both went through the Citizenship tests and swearing in. Peter would never have got a security clearance without citizenship.
Carole, I feel for you, like me you don't have that shoulder to lean on at time like these. I am not close to anyone that I could share problems with. It helps a lot just to talk about what's bothering you. Need to get some food inside me as I did not eat yesterday.

| There's been action going on for 20 years Margaret, and when you say all the innocent people please say "the Sub Postmasters" those are the innocent people, As long as Alan Bates got breath in him it won't be brushed under the rug,. And believe it Margaret we, the general public will not let it either. It wasn't just Fujitsu who knew that the programme had faults the big Wigs in the Post Office also knew, the top one was that Paula, who knew all about it about 2005, and was caught on tape talking about it, and yet they allowed the Sub Postmasters to go to prison, lose everything, 4 killed themselves, after all that you think the people, us, will let them get away with it? oh no. BTW Margaret it isn't the members of Parliament who give themselves raises, it used to be but more often than not the MP's didn't accept a raise, turned it down, believe it or not, so in 2009 the Independent Body took over, they would check up, finding what MP's worked, how much they paid out and then they get what the Independent Body think they're worth. Of course our lot don't get near to what your lot get. Right it's feeling pretty cold, though tomorrow it'll be dry, for when Susan goes off to Anne's the the day, she's to be up tomorrow morning at 3am to get to the Airport. Ok any hot chocolate going Bond? I need warming up. | |

| Sometimes the old toys are the best. I have a feeling that a lot of the knots of problems to be sorted in the Post office scandal, will get pushed under a very large rug. The innocent people will be kept waiting so long that there could be a general election and it all disappear like magic. It needs more action not talk! I hate when there are promises made but it takes years to fulfil them. All are watching and protecting their behinds legally before making any moves. Those who are responsible will walk away with their government pensions in tact. Of course the company who made the program in the first place and sold it knowing it had faults should pay through the nose. I hate the penny pinching that goes about buying new equpment or giving people raises when they have not had one in years. The Members of Parliament manage to give themselves raises every year without fail. I am not just picking on the British government, Its the same here. Millions of dollars disappear into all kinds of accounts never to be seen again. I have always said that the government and the biggest corporations never issue a end of year accounting of where the money goes. Its all smoke and mirrors. At least now we know how Trump got away with it for decades. He just did not pay any taxes! He bumped up the value of his holdings to qualify for big Loans and devalued them to pay the government anything. (the loans never got paid back) It reminds me of Meghan with her schemes, she is running out of places that will give her Millions up front and not then deliver. The CEO and board directors and the share holders never seem to moan about having a lean year. even if the stocks lose value. like Boeings will after the latest round of "accidental" problems. The Post Office here is saying the price of a first class stamp will rise to 75 Cents here, its gone up 5 times in 3 years! Arizona high court has just declared the abortion law passed over a hundred years ago is legal still! It only covers if the mothers life is at stake. So now NO abortions in a state that was not even a state when it was passed the first time! Even the Republicans in that state are up in arms about it. It comes on the tail of the Supreme Court taking down the Roe v Wade constitutional amendment passed in the 60s. In the primary elections we just had where this was on the ballot, several Republican states voted for legal abortions and passed. It sure to be on the ballots in the Presidential elections in November. I wont bore you anymore. I was at the dentist having an Xray done of the place the tooth was extracted from. It seems that he can do a simple bridge if the nerve gets fully covered under the gum. Need to wait another 4 weeks and go for another Xray. I sat here and cried last night about why I was being forced to take meds for BP when my body is telling me it hates it. I did not take any last night and none so far this morning. I slept most of the night last night and feel better this morning. Now I have to tell whoever I can reach that I need a consultation ASAP. I believe I have done a lot of things to bring my BP under control but I cannot control the amount of stress this whole episode has put me in. I am going to suggest that I go back onto antidepressants (at a low dose) which will lower my anxiety level which should lower my stress level. Which in turn should lower my BP. I have taken an antidepressant for years for the lingering stress I have been under from my accident, where a seven year old lost her life. i did nothing wrong but she was tail end Charlie of 4 bikes on the pavement and as I got level with them in my car, the last child decided to get ahead by riding down the driveway apron into the street! I had no way of avoiding her or stopping in time. The police did an investigation and found it was an accident pure and simple. I have lived with this since it happened. I had to wean myself off the generic antidepressant they switched me to as it was making my liver toxic. It happened so long ago that they might not have that in my record at the Drs office. That experience is not going away, I live with it and always will. No amount of counseling will erase it and no amount of Beta Blocker will overcome it. Its what the southerners call a "Come To Jesus" meeting time. Time for the truth to be told. | |

| Morning.......waiting for Asda man. It is cold as well ......Vest and Pants Bond, those photos will be on Face Book I expect Bond.
Awww what's the matter Carole, if you won't a moan you can, but if you don;t want to tell that is fine too. We're here for you, if you need us,
Good photo Bond.
BTW that book I'm reading is ever so good, you get to know how the Palace is run and those who were advising the Queen {late Queen} also Prince Charles. as he was then and a guy who was shaping William and Harry when they were younger and then a different guy as they got older, Harry wanted to go into the Army and so did William but that was out so Harry went into the Army, and William came up with flying helicopters in search and rescue, of course Kate was on the scene. But Harry was still the "Wild Child" { Meghan wasn't on the scene at that time} but it's really good.

| Hope you can see this Pudding Lane in London. Susan took it last Thursday when they went to the Theatre and walked around London for a while, I've always found Pudding Lane fascinating, that's where the great fire of London started, as I'm sure you all know. Rachael was thrilled because she's teaching her pupils all about the great fire of London. | |

| Evening all........oh Susan's not staying over night in Ireland just going over in the early hours and coming home late at night, so she;ll not need cases. As I said like a bus.
Did you mean tarmac our Drive? not that you could anyway we've got bricks on our drive.
Yes Carole our Steve is 56 today.......56 how did that happen.
The experts knew about it Margert, in 2005, the head of the Post Office also knew about it,,,,,that's the sickening part, Sub Post Masters went to prison and those at the top knew they were innocent, people even took their lives and those pigs, even the ones at Fujitsu knew it was faulty, but they all stayed quiet.....they should go to prison, even that woman who was one of the top ones, Paula Vennells, was the very top one, she was on tape admitting it was faulty about. 2005, long before the Sub Post Masters started saying they weren't getting the correct number, they couldn't get it to balance, they were told it was their fault, nobody else was having trouble.....when in fact loads had started phoning in and saying numbers wouldn't balance, this Paula Vennells was even a Lay Preacher taking service every Sunday and the sod was allowing people to go to prison for fraud when they hadn't done anything of the sort and the top people knew it, 20 years they went through this, lost their homes, their money, everything.....and some took their live. Fujitsu should pay them everything they've lost never mind our government saying they'll get Compensation ....they should get ALL the money they've paid out from their savings before they borrowed money off family and friends until they couldn't get any more, ALL that should be paid back before they get compensation and from those at the top, get them to empty their savings, selling their houses, Paula could live in a two up two down ....after she's come out of prison for a very long time and Fujitsu we can't forget them. And Alan Bates gets a Knighthood, if it hadn't been for that man none of this would have come out.....as he said they tried to shut him up ......oh yes and we mustn't forget Ed Davie leader of the Lib Dems who when Alan Bates wrote letters to him asking him to look into this TWICE Davie said there was nothing to look at, he was the Post Master General at the time and the Government are shareholders. 100% shareholders. then Davie was taken on as a consultant for the law firm in 2019 for the post office, Consultant for Law Firm Herbert Smith Freehills against the sub postmasters not for them, & for about 6 hours a week and in the few years he worked for them, for 6 hours a week, he got £275,000 well SIR Ed Davie {wonder what he got the Sir for, most likely "Service to the Post Office." we haven't forgot what you did to those poor sub postmasters.....so King Charles remove his Knighthood and we'll have all his money, plus him in prison.
As for your postal service same with ours.....stamps here have gone up again as you said ours also cost more than the item or even the card we're sending.
Right speak tomorrow........nighty night.

| Just been watching video from S of England about storm flooding. Its going to be a bit rough here in the southern states today. We are experiencing lovely weather this week, its 60f and sunny at the moment going to a high of 71f!
My settings have gone all funny on here , tiny printing, so had to use Bold type so you could read it. Going to reset it later. It's my Dentist appointment today, just for X rays I was told.
Need to set up an appointment with the doctors office to explain why i have not taken the water pills . The Beta blocker I am on has dried my eyes, nose and mouth and skin so fear the water pills would just make me dehydrated even further. Don't need all the fuss that would entail. They are also giving me flatulence like you would not believe.
I am sure you saw the big fuss the Americans made over the eclipse. I have never seen anything like it before with other eclipses. It just seems that the population needs a diversion from all the bad news we are dealing with. We had the first installment on TV here last night of the saga about the British Post Office scandal . (It was on PBS Carole) I had been following it on my BBC news app. Its disgusting that a service that has always had a sterling reputation should be brought down through stupidity. Again, the program should have been tested by an expert or experts before proceeding with blaming innocent people. As for expecting them to pay up for the short falls, before an enquiry was set in motion, blows my mind. What happened to "innocent until proven guilty" ?
We have and are having problems with our mail service here. It is being run by a Republican friend of Trumps who got the board who oversee who gets the top slot to side with him. Its usually a position given to someone who has had years of experience in the postal service, not a political appointment. We cannot trust that all ballots from elections will be mailed in time to be counted. (They must be postmarked the same date as polling day)
Its easy to slow down the time it takes to get mail where its going. It is just blamed on anything they can think of. Christmas before last. All parcels addressed to Australia were non deliverable. No explanation. Some got there finally in April! The parcel postal rates are such that it cost more to mail one than what you paid for the item! It also applies to home made items like jumpers and scarves. Some immigrants like to mail their families items that they cannot afford where they live. Its basic stuff like a pair of shoes or clothes. Its not luxury items. Its time for me to start moving here. Might try some Cheerios this morning with a few blueberries. TTFNXXX

| Morning, rain and wind here. Benjie's at the groomers.
Yes Bond we went to Brighton one year, went to the Brighton Royal Pavilion that's lovely......and of course Malc lived in Brighton. You could of popped in and saw him and Maria, when he lived there that is.
I see that guy who stabbed that young mother to death was out on bail Bond, why let them out on bail when they've threatened to kill someone, not sure if it was the young woman or someone else, but anyway he shouldn't have been out on bail. He'd come over here on a student visa.
Yes it does look grey Carole but it is a light Olive colour.
Ok back later. | |
